“I literally laughed out loud while reading. Kimmie is just hilarious, even when she’s not trying to be.” – Books, Beauty, and BeyondWhen Chicago’s Hottest Snack Cake Heir… parents the way they saved him. Including using his charm on a small-town wedding cake baker.
Takes on the Misfit Princess of the Bridal Capital of the Midwest…
Kimmie is flighty, she spouts off weird dreams when she’s nervous, and her frizzy hair and fashion sense make her the girl least likely to snare a debonair snack cake heir. But Kimmie can bake a cake that’ll make a grown man cry, and that’s exactly what Josh needs.
They Just Might Find The Recipe for Love
Josh’s plan should be easy, except Kimmie isn’t all cupcake underneath. Her cooperation comes with a price. If Josh wants to save his family’s company, he’ll have to do something he’s never done: be himself.
Cupcakes have never been so terrifying.

My favorite of the series so far! Kimmie’s quirkiness was a bit overwhelming at first, now that she’s a protagonist. But soon the silliness grew on me. I liked the way the relationship between Josh and Kimmie built slowly. Other relationships had me hooked too. Most notably, Kimmie and her mother. I’m curious to see how much of a role Marilyn will have in upcoming books and whether or not she’s changed at all. By the end, I wound up with a severe craving for sweet treats. FYI, pickle cupcakes are a real thing and aren’t all that bad. Kimmie could totally make amazing ones.
Book 4 of the Misfit Brides series. This one was my favorite out of the 7. This time its Kimmie (daughter of the Queen General) and Josh 1 of Chicago’s most eligible playboys. Kimmie is easy going girl who has crazy dreams and fortune cookies predictions. Her mother’s mission is give orders and marry Kimmie off. Josh enters and chaos ensues.
I LOVED this book!
I came across this author and book in a roundabout way and thought it sounded interesting. Since it was on KU, I decided to give it a shot.
IT WAS SO VERY GOOD!
I LOVED the heroine and her quirky dream-spouting. The characters in general were great, the storyline was fun, and the humor was fantastic.
I definitely recommend this.
Cute and fun

I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I think this is my favorite book in this series. The characters are complex and I just loved the craziness that Kimmie spouts when she is nervous. Josh is a businessman on a mission and until he starts to connect his heart to what he is doing he is not very nice really. KImmie has been bullied by her controlling mother her whole life and yet she remains a vibrant, innocent ray of sunshine. Once Josh understands Kimmie, I love how he becomes protective of her. I really appreciate how fearless he was standing up top her mom, and I believe her character needed to see that in order to break free herself. I enjoyed Kimmie’s growth through this story as the mother/daughter relationship in any family can be complicated but hers is crazy ridiculous. I loved seeing her come out on top.The black moment in this book is heartbreaking. Josh’s participation in the husband games is the best Grand Gesture ever.
Super sweet, funny, and steamy this book has it all.
So lovely to read about Kimmie and her turn at real love. She is adorable and unique. Thank goodness Josh wasn’t too self centred to figure that out. Love the characters.
I loved this whole series, and especially this book.
A solid next installment in this series. Kimmie is a sweet wedding cake decorator who works for her dictatorial mother, Marilyn the Mom General. She spews nonsensical dream when nervous, which makes her feel like a misfit. Josh is the heir to a snack cake fortune and inherited 50 percent ownership of Marilyn’s bakery. Josh needs Kimmie’s cupcake recipes to save his failing family business. This is an opposites attract/fake relationship romance. Both characters have serious insecurities they need to get over to get to their happily ever after. Lots of laughs, and a few tears, definitely worth the read.
Kimmie is a breath of fresh air. She is quirky, loyal, funny – everything you want in a friend – and she is surrounded by a unique family growing up in Bliss. She has a pureness about her that gives you hope for the world which is surprising as we interact with her mother that truly is a tyrant. Marilyn, General Mom, can be frustrating but in this book we do learn where her bullying ways come from, she is protecting her heart from another great loss but sadly she misses out on enjoying life with her daughter. Kimmie gets stuck between her mother and the “silent partner”, Josh, in the bakery. As her mother pushes her to seduce his ownership in the bakery away from him, Kimmie struggles to make her mother happy while staying true to herself and trying to overcome the feelings of being unworthy. Josh never saw Kimmie coming, he has worked so hard to hide his heart from the world after all the important people in his life keep leaving him, but Kimmie just might crack his shell. Josh has a bigger problem, his adopted family’s business is in crises so he’s trying to use his ownership in the bakery to find a way to save it. Could he lose his heart in the process? Will Kimmie find the confidence to stand up to her mother? Kimmie and Josh are wonderful together, both have issues from their childhood to overcome, there is a beautiful balance in how Kimmie loosens up Josh while he finds way to boost her confidence. This book is a breath of fresh air and was a joy to read.
I absolutely love the Misfit Brides series. Kimmie is almost 30 and never really dated anyone. She has these odd dreams and a mother that keeps everyone steered away. All Kimmie wants is to be loved. Enter Josh, half owner of her mother’s bakery, and things begin to change. Josh needs Kimmie’s recipes to help his father’s bakery business survive. Kimmie wants a chance at happiness but a fake relationship is better than nothing at all, right. I love the story, the dreams, the coming to life and love of both Josh and Kimmie. Off to read Merried.
Jamie Farrell slays again. These characters are true winners that steal your heart. A definite must read.
