The second book in the Love in New Bedford series a well written story about a second chance for Ava Webster and Leo Stewart. A book I enjoyed reading. I will be looking for more books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Delilah Peters where have you been all by book lovin’ life? Honest to God I was expecting a pleasant read but instead found myself immersed in a bloody phenomenal book. I immediately related to Tickle, I mean Ava, from the word go and then quickly became Leo’s biggest fan. For the first time in a long time I cried while reading a book; Leo’s declaration of love through the closed door separating them brought me to tears. This book is a little piece of cookie heaven on earth and the love needs to be spread and just like cookies I won’t be able to stop at just one book.

Sometimes the second chance at love is the sweetest. Sometimes getting that second chance can be a bit difficult. Leo left and broke Ava’s heart so when she finds out her brother sold half of their bakery to Leo she’s more than surprised. Leo knows he deserves Ava’s rage but still loves her and wants to sweep her off her feet. Ava wants nothing of the sort and will treat like a bug in her kitchen. Leo will do what he has to do to win her over, even if it means telling her the real reason he left. A great read that’s fun and entertaining.

Ava’s busy running her grandmother’s bakery, which her brother now owns. He and his kids live with her since his ex-wife left them high and dry with no money. He’s ready to move on and buy his own home, so he sells half of the bakery to Leo. Really… Leo????? Leo and Ava had a past, and while part of it was really good, the breakup part was really crappy. She’s still mad at him, but at the same time wants to let him back into her life. It’s up and down from there, as she learns to trust him again. There’s a lot of discovery on her part, finding out why he really left her, how her grandmother was involved in that. Just when they’re finally getting back into a good place, his (soon to be former) business partner shows up in New Bedford, looking for more than just business. I love this book – told through Ava’s point of view, a sweet journey back to her first love becoming her last love.

This darling of a story will sweeten your hearts with Leo and Ava’s drama. Ava has been pining away every since Leo left ten years ago. She has spent her life in her grandmother’s bakery that was left to her brother Henry. When Henry’s wife wipes him out financially, he sells half of the bakery as a way to make ends meet. What he doesn’t reveal is to whom he sold that half to. Imagine Ava’s surprise when it turns out to be none other than the man who was Ava’s one and only! Will this be a happy reunion or the makings of war?

This was an enjoyable second chance at love romance. It had its funny moments, some kinky sexy ones and a large dollop of sad moments. The characters were well written and though I couldn’t personally relate to them I did empathize with them.
Ava runs the bakery her brother Hank inherited from their Grandmother and has emotionally closed herself off since her ex Leo left her 10 years ago. Her life revolves around the bakery, Hank and his children. Hank needs money to move on with his post divorce life and sells half interest in the bakery to Leo. Ava flips out as she does NOT handle change well. They eventually hook up but her trust issues and his partner tear them apart again. After being involved in a car accident, Hank has a sit down talk with her and she and Leo are able to work out their differences.

Ava is one of the most appealing main characters I’ve read in a while. Her nicknames for Leo alone would get this four stars, and the writing and general levity of the story, with the similarly well-written character of Leon and the empathy shown by the author to Ava’s love for and need for her brother’s children, give it the final one. The ending was frankly totally unexpected, the food made me hungry, the romance made me needy, and the story made me happy.

It has been ten years since Leo Stewart left but now he is back into her life. Ava had been crushed and is still furious about his betrayal. Only thing is, her brother sold half the bakery she works in to Leo so now she has to work side by side with him. There is still chemistry between them. He wants a second chance but she wants nothing to do with him.
This is a contemporary, small town romance and is an enemy to lover.story. It is a funny, qiuirky and steamy hot story and is book two in the Love in New Bedford Series. The characters are full of life and have engaging personalities complete with positive and negative attributes. The author takes us on an emotional rollercoaster as the characters deal with their past experiences, their internal fears and insecurities as well as external obstacles and surprises. The storyline flows along smoothly with plenty of drama, hidden secrets, unexpected twists, some explicit and kinky sex scenes, touching romantic moments and suspend all of which keeps your engaged in the story until the end. If you like your romances with some heat, then this may be a good book for you.

This story is a big thumbs down for me.
I’m sad to also say it’s the first 1 star read for me this year.
This book is the perfect example of why I really can’t stand second-chance romances.
Ava and Leo’s history is so messed up and personally I felt like Ava really needed to see someone to get her head examined. She seemed to have so many…what’s the word…hang-ups? She seems to only hear things her way without letting anyone explain what is really going on.
For instance…their first break-up. She just runs out on him without letting him explain things to her and then ends up in a car accident. Might I add she later does this same thing again and once again ends up in another wreck!!
There were instances where I was a bit uncomfortable reading the book. Like when Ava decides to blurt out her sexual history within the last 10 years to Leo. However, apparently a lot of it isn’t true she’s just playing games with him…and speaking of games I thought it ironic that Ava constantly complained to Leo they were to old to play these kinds of games yet she did it quite a bit. Then there was the “once virginal best friend”. What’s the point of bringing this up?? Isn’t everyone at one time “once virginal”?
Now onto Leo…
Why wait 10 years before coming back? If the reason he stayed away was due to the grandmother, then why not come back years earlier after she died? Plus I really wish the author gave us a better reason for why Leo decided to kinda break up with her (not saying that he did actually break up with her).
Lastly, I guess I’ve gotten spoiled with my books where the hero is celibate if he and the main woman are separated. He claims that it’s always been and always will be Ava…yet he gets into a relationship with his partner/business associate?
Oh and don’t even get me started on how out of nowhere the domination and spanking come out!
