When I first meet Samantha Russo, a former FBI analyst, I can’t decide if she’s brilliant or clueless. Regardless, after one night, I want more… A private eye in Manhattan? You’ve got to be kidding me. To keep her five-year-plan at bay, I recommended Sam to my boss at Patten Securities. Don’t get me wrong. I respect she’s got plenty of attitude. I especially hold her Uncle Vinny, a mob boss, in … Uncle Vinny, a mob boss, in high esteem. Both he and her police-chief father explain how I should book my own funeral if I mess with her. Not much for authority, I thank them for their concern. However, she’s mine and I plan on keeping her. When she goes missing, at first I figure she’s miffed. Yeah, I may not always take her career as seriously as she’d like. But hell, didn’t I help her solve the missing-cat-caper? That should count for something, right? When she doesn’t answer my texts, I check with her family and my stupid heart stops. What the hell? She’s gone missing. Suds and Sam will make you laugh and yet keep you turning one more page all night long.Grab your copy now. Note: Beware of healthy, passionate, panty-melting scenes. No cliffhangers. Happy ending guaranteed.more
Riveting story of a woman, Sam, and her desire to get a P.I. license after losing her job because of Suds…short for Sebastien Sutcliffe. There is an immediate zing between them so he helps her get a job where he works. This is a funny, wacky, roller coaster ride of bad dates, interesting analytical reasoning to solve a murder, kidnapping, and family interference. Loved the ride!
Red Robin
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
My kind of book! Mystery, steam, attraction, humor, sassy girl, wonderful guy. He’s a bodyguard. She is struggling and wants to be a private detective. Loved the family dynamics. Sam’s father is a police chief. Her mother from a crime family. Aunts, uncles and cousins all a hoot! All so entertaining.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I have to admit I read the Bushwick series and Suds in a character throughout. He is such an interesting character; I couldn’t wait to read his story. When he gets together with Sam, the big, tough bodyguard once again shows his heart. I love the witty banter between Suds and Sam. They are the perfect personality counter for the other. This couple also has a lot of heat. When they get together, the steam fills the pages.
Sam mentions Stephanie Plum when wondering what she would do in certain situations. If you have read any of the Plum books, you will find the style of this book familiar. The female characters are strong, know what they want and aren’t afraid to go after it. Suds is kind of a blend of the two men in the Plum books. He is a bad@ss like Hawk but street smart like Moretti. There are even neighborhood/family characters that are each so unconventional, almost eccentric. Just like the Plum series, the Suds and Sam series is a joy to read. You will find yourself smiling while reading. It is such a fun story.
Suds and Sam Book 1 is a standalone story with a happily ever after. The book has an interesting plot with mystery, comedy, kidnapping and murder. I can’t to read the next Suds and Sam book.
Once again Stella Marie Alden has book that I will be rereading again and again.
Stella Marie Alden brings all that I love of her writing in this new series that has me begging for more. Cases that need solved, characters that I can sink into, giggles galore from a zany Italian family I HAVE to shake my head at, and a red hot passion that leaves me a puddle of goo…this starter checks all my boxes and then some.
OMG …I’ve fallen in love with these two! Suds is just the kind of guy you could fall for and be totally happy. Sam is the cutest…she’s got the typical Italian family from the Bronks! Love the banter between them and her family is hysterical! Dad’s a Chief of police and uncle is a crime boss! Her and Suds work for a very high class bodyguard/detective agency the are like peanut butter and jelly together! LOVE this book and definitely recommend it.
Humor and heat, action and sass come together in this story to make it a very fun read. I liked the dynamics between the characters and how they both complemented each other and challenged each other. The snark and sass was a great addition and the action was intense. I liked that they were both strong characters and could stand on their own. One ex-FBI and one ex-military, boy did that add to the passion! This was my first read from this author but no my last, I really enjoyed it!
The start of a new series. I enjoyed reading Suds and Sam, I will be watching for the next book. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Solid 3.5 star
There are some great characters and funny times in this book but I felt I just couldn’t really connect with the characters as some of the things Sam did or decisions she made just didn’t seem right after working for the FBI for so long and due to her age. Suds also frustrated me a bit with how we never actually saw him do anything with the information Lucky gave him and there was so many moving parts to the story. Although some things irked me I did still enjoy the read, had a good few laughs along with enjoyed trying to work out who the killer was.
Stella Marie Alden is at it again with her world of Patten Securities and the characters that inhabit it! Always told with wit and a generous amount of silliness, Suds and Sam grabbed me and didn’t let me go. Samantha Russo (Sam) is the daughter of the police chief and the niece of a mob boss, quite the combination on both sides of the law. Sebastian Sutcliff (Suds) gets her fired from the FBI but spends some “quality” time with her. Wanting to keep her around, he gets her a job at Patten Securities with him. They play off of each other so well and, when they take on their first job together, there’s as much play as there is work. The cheating ex, a homicidal congressman, a failed plot to tie up loose ends all are done cleverly and with humor and heat along the way. Wonderfully done!
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is a wonderful well-written story, it’s fast-paced with plenty of drama and twists. I loved the chemistry between Suds and Sam, the interaction between them is sizzling hot as well as humorous. If there is trouble it’s definitely going to find Sam…
I love the Patten Securities guys. Suds is no different. He has charisma and is an all out alpha male with a mild wide protective streak. Sam is funny, intelligent, smart and with a great personality. The chemistry between the two of them is off the charts. This story is full of drama, suspense, mystery and hot sexy romance. It draws you in a doesn’t let go. It is extremely well written and beautifully developed characters. The flow of the story is superb. We get to see some of the other Patten Security guys that just adds to the story. It is a must read and doesn’t disappoint. I voluntarily review an advanced reader copy of this book.
I love the characters in this book. You step right into the middle of their world which has a history and things that have happened before but it’s like you just slot in to it. They jumped off the page at me and surrounded me as I read. I could see it all in my mind as it played out. I really enjoyed watching them all as they worked their way through the stuff that was going on, and the steam oh the steam! I’m hoping there are more books coming in this series as I would like to follow them on their adventures.
An entertaining well written suspenseful fun romance story. This engaging storyline had me hooked from beginning to end with family drama, suspense, murder, laughter, danger, and chemistry. The characters are interesting, entertaining, have undeniable sexy chemistry, and both come from have issues from their past making an enjoyable story with a HEA and leading into a possibly of more adventures with Suds and Sam in the future. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
Cute and fun read! Sam is sweet & snarky & comes from a big and fun loving family that loves to get in her business. With no privacy whatsoever, she has a plan to further her career as a PI and just needs someone to believe in her. She’s not sure if that person is Suds. He’s broody, hot and cold, and can’t stop keeping his hands off of her. Not that she’s complaining. This was a great read with two people realizing they need each other in more ways than just keeping the sheets warm. Looking forward to reading the next book!
Another outstanding read by one of my favorite authors Stella Marie Alden! Suds (Sebastian) and Sam (Samantha) are well written, witty, compelling characters you want to be friends with. Suds is ex military and works for Patten Bodyguards. Sam is an ex FBI analyst with all kids of “family” connections. I love these two together, they are the perfect for each other, as partners and lovers. I love the banter, the steam, the twists and turns. This book has it all. I thought Lucky and Callie were my favorite couple, but Suds and Sam squeezed them out. Great read!
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
What a fun quick read and is sheer entertainment. The characters are the southern charm of Suds and the city sass of Sam. A combination that will keep you on your toes. Their chemistry is off the charts and the way the author expresses it, is very sexy and scintillating. HOT!!! The storyline of solving a murder was interesting and the end took me unaware. A delightful read.
Suds works for Patten Securites and got Sam fired at the FBI. Now Sam wants to be a detective in Manhattan. Suds thinks she bonkers but with plenty of attitude. After a night of pleasure in bed, Suds cant get enough if her and gets her a job at Pattens. While Suds is doing his job, Sam is playing detective at how the mayors was shot and figured it out but until Pattens is given the job, they cant do anything with solving it. In the mean time Sam is trying to find a cat. Oh she does; but how she got him, pretty funny. But getting shot at Sam isn’t liking it that much. Now Suds is always trying to keep her safe and reminding her that’s she his. As her Uncle Vinny is making her go on dates and she really wisher he would stop. in the meantime to story gets thicker, Sam is in danger and Suds save the day. Its a great edition too add to your collection.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
I received an ARC of this from the author for an honest review.
I also read the prequel prior to reading this book, which I would highly recommend as it gives you a back story into their relationship.
To be completely honest, this book didn’t capture my interest in the way I thought it would. The humor and fun was there, but I felt like there was way too much going on for me to really be able to follow the story as a whole and I found myself becoming less and less interested.
Sebastian, aka Suds, is the typical hero who doesn’t believe he needs love and is giving his friends a hard time over finding their “one”. He uses humor to deflect quite a bit of his own insecurities as well as what he has going on in his own head.
Samantha, aka Sam, is a great heroine. I connected with her in the beginning, but then the relationship between myself as a reader and her as a character forced. I enjoyed her banter with Suds quite a bit and they had a very dynamic relationship.
What fell apart for me was there were way too many twists and turns for me to be able to keep up. From kidnapping, to murder, to mental health issues… it was just way too much and it felt rushed, squished and not at all an easy to follow dialogue. Overall, I really believe I could have enjoyed the book, I just felt as though I was being led through a maze with only a flashlight and no real direction.
I love Stella’s writing and the previous books in the series had me laughing and loving them, I just felt as though this one fell apart for me a bit. I have read other reviews where readers loved it completely and I just didn’t feel the same connection. Take a chance and read it and see how you feel!
South Charm + City Sass = Delightful Entertainment!
Suds and Sam Book 1 by Stella Maire Alden is yet another very well written book by this author. I absolutely adore Suds (Sebastian Sutcliff) and Sam (Samantha Russo). These two are a hoot to read! Between Suds’ southern charm, dirty talk and protective streak, what’s not to love? Samantha is no-nonsense, straight from Brooklyn with all kinds of connections she left the big city to avoid, but finds herself immersed in them anyway. Sam sure does have a knack for finding trouble and Stella Marie Alden has a genuine way of telling it with equal amounts of suspense and humor too.
Through Sam, there are several characters that Stella Marie Alden fans are introduced to and they are all highly engaging and at times downright hilarious. The fact that some of them (family) drive Sam crazy just adds to the entertainment of this book.
The plot of Suds and Sam Book 1, is very interesting and more than meets the eye. There’s plenty going on to keep the reader fully engaged and invested in all things Suds and Sam.
Overall, a highly entertaining read for the characters alone, however, the suspense, danger and story development is spot on as well. The HEA for this entertaining couple is wonderful and leads one to believe there will be more adventures with Suds and Sam in the future. I can’t wait!
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
This entertaining, humorous, steamy romantic suspense novel is a real page turner with a happily ever after ending. It has a hot hero, a strong female protagonist, and an intriguing mystery.
