I thought he’d always be mine, even when I was forced to say goodbye. We were never meant to let go, but it happened anyway. Too bad I didn’t know someone was waiting to take my place, or I would’ve held on a lot tighter. Two years later, we were exactly where we’d always planned to be. I’d kept my promise. He’d forgotten all about his. Not only had he moved on, but the person he’d moved on with was … moved on, but the person he’d moved on with was my best friend, leaving me to begin college with a broken heart.
I guess this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you some other guy stepped in, repaired my shattered pieces, and made me smile again.
This isn’t that kind of story.
My heart might have been broken,
but it refused to fall out of love.

As always Tillie Cole delivers an emotionally charged book that sees Sia, Hush and Cowboy face their past head on and build a life together in a ménage relationship. I felt the book was very tastefully written and wasn’t just a full on sex fest as some ménage books can be.
Told from a multiple POV; the book is character based rather than plot as Sia is still recovering from her time in Mexico at the hands of sex trafficker Garcia. Tillie also deals with some very emotional and controversial topics as she deals with the effects of a multi racial relationship and the horror and social out casting that surrounded Hush’s parents at the hands of ‘White Power’ and the torment that followed their son throughout his life. It was heartfelt as well as heart-breaking that this way of thinking is still very much alive and kicking in some places. Cowboy too had his own tale to tell. I loved all of these characters greatly and it was good to reconnect with Styx and Ky once more. This bunch are definitely my favourite MC series. The writing is dark but realistic and plausible.
The story leads nicely into the next plot as it starts to move away from the cult and into the Mexican Cartel and The KKK and this book was a great bridge into that
I loved this novel. It’s a sports romance and second chance rolled into one. So much angst I almost died. But do worth it. The feels were through the roof. I want so much more from this couple.
Suddenly Forbidden is the first book I have read by Ella Fields and I really enjoyed reading this book. A childhood to young adult romance with lots of bumps and breaks along the way. Turns into a forbidden and second chance romance when all of the characters enter Gray Springs University.
Seven-year-old Daisy June Daniels fell in love with eight-year-old Quinn Burnell when mourning over the body of a dead rooster. He said, “I’m gonna marry you someday, Daisy June.” She thought from that day forward he would always be her’s. Even when they where forced apart and had to say goodbye. Distant romances are difficult, especially when you are teenagers. And there are others working at trying to keep you apart.
For two years Daisy held on to their promise that they would both go to Gray Springs College. She naively believed they would pick back up and be together. But not having heard from her in those two years, lead Quinn to think she had left and didn’t care about him anymore. He was there, but no longer her’s. But what really shattered her already broken heart, he now belonged to her once best-friend. She had no intention of giving him back. All is fair in love and war!
Where do I even start?
I swear my brain doesn’t know what to do with itself, and my heart is now yearning for more!
This story. This story had me yelling and screaming and going psycho bitch whilst touching every part of my heart and owning it. I don’t often read books that contain cheating, not that I take a offence, I don’t. I’m easier than a Sunday Summer morning in the Maldives. That kind of trope doesn’t put me off. To be honest, in my opinion, I think that even those that don’t like cheating WILL love this book. It’s a coming of age sports romance. It is the epitome of a true love story. It is first, pure and naive love at its finest. There is a love triangle there from the beginning, but there is no mention, nod to, hint at or direct act of menage. This is a straightforward and enchanting romance that is beautiful in its simplicity and follow through. The sex isn’t wild and staged, it is very much a blended part of the story that is tastefully written.
The characters are real and raw and you immediately fall in love with them. Daisy and Quinn are just a breath of fresh air. He isn’t your typical quarterback and she isn’t your typical artsy fartsy too cool for school art student. These characters are like a warm cup off hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows, chocolate sauce and flakes on top. They’re still maturing and growing, but at the same time they are wise beyond their years in terms of their feelings and their openness with one another. I couldn’t get enough of them. Saying that, you do have the third element of the triangle—Alexis. Oh man. I dare you to love her. Even before things happen I had a sinking feeling about her. Don’t get me wrong, there are moments I truly did feel for her…but they were few and far between. Saying that, considering how big a role she plays in the story she’s not actually in it that much. You know that annoying shadow that always seems to follow you when all you want to do is bask in the sun? That’s her. She’s the cloud that covers the moon and stars. So yeah, her presence is felt all the way through, but physically she’s not in many scenes.
Three characters that I did love A LOT and desperately want more of are Pippa, Toby and Callum. I am on tenterhooks here! I need their stories so bad!!! Christ. There were times that Pippa felt like I was looking in the mirror and the stuff she came out with…that’s the sort of thing I’d say!!!!
“Holy motherfucking fuck on a shit sundae of asshole dick.”
Yep. That sounds like a rant that’d casually slip out of my mouth. I just loved her attitude her spunk and her loyalty. So, yes, I’d like to see her find happiness. Also, Quinn’s mum—she’s freaking ACE!
All in all, SuddenForbidden was just one of those reads that makes your heart fight with your conscience. It makes you question yourself and who you are because of the feelings it brings out in you in regards to everything that happens. I cannot get over this book and I’m so glad that Kelly over at Readers Together wouldn’t stop going on about it. In fact she went on so much, that I had to ask Ella (rather sheepishly and hopefully) if I could snag an advanced copy! I don’t do that often…in fact I don’t think I’ve ever asked an author outright for an ARC, but I’m so glad I did with this book. It’s everything good that you can ever ask of a romance.
Now, I have Kelly to whinge to about this horrible book hangover!
‘Because without the stars, the moon is left alone to battle the dark’ – just one of the many quotes I loved in this book!
This is the first book I have read by this author and it was simply amazing!
Daisy and Quinn were perfect in every way. There love is pure and I felt every emotion along with them. Such a beautiful story watching them grow individually and as a couple.
A slightly taboo subject (cheating) – some may find this hard. I’m ok with these storylines but if you do find this difficult, then with this book to me it was more of a ‘break’ situation (if this makes sense).
I cannot wait for Pippa and Toby’s story and if it’s anything like this book then I’ll be blown away once again!
Thank you Ella! I adored Suddenly Forbidden (and the title fits the book perfectly!!).
A mindblowing and entrancing story like no other!
Ella Fields stole my heart once again! She captured this angsty,heartbreaking,anguish-filled NA story perfectly. She wrote this book so eloquently that i was left dazed from the overwhelming emotions that gripped to me when i finished this story. Daisy and Quinn! How my heart ached for them! How i cried for them! Two childhood sweethearts separated because of circumstances only to reunite years later with earth-shattering consequences and a love as fragile as broken glasses.
Young love is fierce. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. It’s life-altering and sometimes heartbreaking when it captures you, but worth it nonetheless. Suddenly Forbidden is the story of that love between Quinn Burnell and Daisy Daniels. Two kids growing up together and falling in love as they go. Promises made and promises broken, life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes that love takes a detour and finding your way back makes it all that much more sweeter. Nothing is more satisfying as a reader than to be able to get into a story and feel all the emotions. When an author can paint a picture so clearly that you feel like you’re a part of the story then you know you have a winner. Laughing, teary-eyed, anxiety, rage and a heart full of hope and love, so many feelings are experienced while reading. The teenage/early college years are tough and Ella captures it perfectly. No made up drama – just real life. Mistakes made and mistakes that need to be fixed. Plus the secondary characters are more than just filler. Pippa, the best friend every girls needs and college roommate. The boyfriend stealing ninja, Alexis, that you hope gets what she deserves in the end. Callum, the guy friend that understands what you’re going through and Quinn’s roommate, Toby, who speaks his mind but has a little mystery to him too. If you’re looking for that second-chance, emotion packed romance look no further than Suddenly Forbidden.
Ella has got a talent for pulling you in from the very beginning! Once I was actually able to get a little bit into the story (real life was getting in my way) I did not want to put it down…. I was staying up until I finished it! I would not have been able to sleep until I knew what happened to Daisy and Quinn!!!
This is a fantastic story about first love…. the kind that starts before they even know what love is! Its the kind of story that has heartbreak written all over it! Daisy and Quinn were forced apart. Years later they reunite in college…. and that is when it all REALLY begins! I loved everything about this book! The love, the heartbreak, they betrayal, the feeling I had to punch a person or 2 in the face, the parents!!! OMG the meddling parents had me dying of laughter! I had high expectations going in, and Ella did NOT disappoint! I felt a little bit of everything in the last 24 hours while reading this book. It maybe early to say this, but I really think this will be on a lot of Best of 2018 lists…… starting with mine!!! You absolutely do not want to miss this one!
Hold up just a minute, I’ve found a new obsession and it’s the words of this author. This was my first story by her and what a story it was.
First love, first heart break, second chances and lots of regret. This book was packed full of all the angsty good stuff that I absolutely crave.
This book will go right into binge worthy status. I read until 2am and had to force myself to stop, only to wake up 4 hours later and finish.
My heart ached for Daisy, and I wanted to punch Quinn. And finally i just wanted to hug them both. There were so many moments where my heart was all torn up and I wanted to throw my kindle but I loved it.
Straight up, if you love messy situations where the H/h have to work for that HEA then this book is a must read. Fields has gained an automatic one click status with me after reading.
Looovveeeeddd it!!!
I really don’t believe there is anything Ella Fields cannot write, and that I would not devour with fervour and gluttony, and taste in my memory for days.
This story is so different from her previous five star reads and yet she has again nailed the genre, this time of young adult romance, of forever love, with such clarity and finesse, that I am feeling very unworthy of piecing any words together to describe it’s brilliance and how it’s made me feel.
Because in a nutshell I felt EVERYTHING!
I lay in bed at one in the morning after having forced it out of my hands to attempt to sleep some 3 hours earlier, my still leaking eyes all puffy like I’d rubbed a damn cat all over them, feeling like Ella had put my poor heart through a mincer and then used a flame thrower on what was left…….and I was only halfway through!! But what she tears apart she mends and manipulates back together with loving poetic precision.
The soul binding connection between Quinn and Daisy is instantly tangible, a beautiful innocence and a sense of loyalty of spirit and belonging that would melt the hardest of hearts and appease the toughest of critics.
“We were the breeze that ruffled the dandelions. The sun that scorched our skin red until we searched for reprieve under our favourite willow tree. And underneath the stretch of dark skies, we were each others’s stars.”
You would believe that their love is no match for distance, obstacles or competition but when they are separated, all of these come together to tear them apart, and even in reuniting it would appear irreparable damage has been done.
“Because magic had a way of disappearing, leaving you with an empty illusion of what you thought you once had.”
There is a villain in most good dramas and those in the romance genre are usually, if well written, easy to dislike, but I don’t normally feel a level of violence towards any of these characters, so to say that I felt decidedly “stabby” towards Alexis, Quinn and Daisy’s childhood friend, you can understand how well written this character is and how acerbic her interactions are to the story.
But show me a villain and there must but a hero, or in this case a heroine, who we find in Daisy’s college bestie Pippa. This girl is my warrior, Daisy’s pillar of strength, a young Socrates of love wisdom, and I just love her “trucker’s mouth” (as my husband would call it!).
“Holy motherf#@King sh!t balls of fire on a frog pond’s lily pad of f#@k.”
Ugly cry, chuckle, sob, gasp, swoon. Rinse and repeat. That is where this book will take you, and turn you out the other end believing in love against all odds. Because with a story from Ella Fields you can feel no other way.
Five is never enough stars!!
Even though I didn’t like the male character, thought he was a wimp, I loved the female character. It was well-written, angsty and romantic.
After reading her previous three books Ella Fields still manages to render me speechless and emotional to the core with her flawless and captivating prose and her well developed characters. I devoured Suddenly Forbidden like there was no tomorrow.
I established a connection with Daisy June and Quinton very early on. Ella Fields lays a strong foundation for Daisy and Quinn in the first couple of chapters and I was immediately invested in them and their story. The switch between past and present was executed to perfection which showed why their love was forever and them inseparable.
The angst and emotion throughout the story was excruciating at times. Fields succeeds in
capturing the hurt, powerlessness and love in the characters and their actions. My heart felt liked it was being squeezed cause it hurt so badly. Yes, there’s angst but there’s definitely also romance and love. A true and forever love.
Daisy and Quinn are two fabulous characters who’ve know each other since they were seven/eight years old. Their friendship turns into a love that’s forever. Irrevocably unique and theirs. They make promises but of course promises are meant to be broken and that’s what happens.
Daisy and Quinn’s road back to each other is incredible filled with so many memories between them. Good and bad.
The secondary characters are terrific especially Pippa who’s a wonderful support for Daisy.
I went through every emotion as I tend to do when I read an Ella Fields book. Again I’m head over heels in love with her storytelling and her words. Suddenly Forbidden is about love, friendship and forgiveness. I felt it all and can only recommend this stunning second chance romance to everyone.
Ella Fields has done it again. I don’t know if I can properly capture the feelings her stories evoke in me. There is nothing more that I love than a story that has me smiling one minute, ragey the next and teary eyed enough that I have to put my Kindle down to take a deep, calming breath. Let’s follow that up with PM’s to friends asking how they lived through this roller coaster of emotions. Will I survive this ride?!?!
Quinn and Daisy are high school sweethearts that have known each other since they were kids. Their love and connection grows so strong over time, it’s impossible for them to see their future without one another. Their bond is undeniable. Some may dismiss their feelings as young love, something that can’t stand the test of time. However, that can’t be further from the truth. I remember what it was like to be young and in love. It’s all consuming and the thought of not being with that other person is absolutely unimaginable. Quinn and Daisy are no different.
Their love story is not an easy one, the angst is on DEFCON 5, but when you’re young and have so much life ahead of you it’s easy to make mistakes. It’s easy to make assumptions and believe that the person you’ve known your entire life hasn’t changed, even though time and distance have separated you. Let’s face it, when you’re a teen you think you can conquer the world. I’ll be honest, there were times I wanted to smack them both. Well, more so Quinn than Daisy. I understood why he made some of the decisions he did, I really did. However, I did not like them ONE BIT, not where Daisy’s feelings were concerned. Quinn had a good heart, I knew he did and he was hurting in his own way. But it killed me when Daisy was hurting, the pain I felt for her was at an all-time high and all I wanted to do was give her a hug!
This NA romance is and up and down battle. All of the characters are honest and real, the mistakes they make and have to fix are part of life. Plain and simple, the teenage and college years are tough to navigate. Ella has a way with words and manages to paint a picture so vivid for these young loves, you feel like you’re living the agony yourself. She manages to capture your heart with her beautiful words, while holding it hostage until the very end. If you’re looking for a love story that will shock your heart and give you ALLLLL THE FEELS, look no further, you need the moon and the stars that are Daisy and Quinn!
Ella Fields never ceases to amaze me. Every book she writes just captivates me from the beginning and I don’t want to stop reading until I’m finished. She creates such dynamic characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, no matter the mistakes they make.
Suddenly Forbidden is just a magical book – a truly incredible story that tugged on every heartstring and gave me all the feels. I just absolutely loved everything about this book – and I can already tell it will be one of my favorites of the year!
When you are young you think you have all the answers, you think you will have everything you want with no struggles or strife. But life has a way of slapping you back to reality. Quinn and Daisy are the perfect example of youthful love and hopefulness until life interferes. Torn apart by distance and life, their young love fails. Both struggle and learn to cope in different ways. Seeing each other again after 2 years brings many truths and struggles to light, and together they finally find the answers and life they were looking for. Ella Fields has written another fabulous story of young love, second chances and how to survive when life chooses to make it difficult.
This book was just perfect, it was angsty, poignant, emotional, tender and loving the perfect friends to lovers story.
Daisy and Quinn grew up together and their friendship grew into love. I loved how protective Quinn was over her, I fell in love with him too at this point. I was sad when they were cruelly ripped apart but I had hope.
Several years pass before they meet again at college and god I hated him, how did he not realise how cruel and insensitive he was being? Oh Daisy my heart The author did an amazing job portraying the emotions of Quinn and Daisy, I felt like I was there as part of their group.
At time’s I wanted to slap some sense into both of them they were so frustrating aaah. As the story progresses we see a change in Daisy as she works through her pain we see a more mature and determined Daisy.
This was a fabulous book and I enjoyed every wonderful word the author wrote. I really hope we get a book about Pippa and Toby soon because I loved them. The epilogue was the perfect ending to this beautiful story.
