You know when you just find that book that you settle in with and don’t want to stop reading? Well this is that book. Submitting to the Lawyer is the 4th book in BJ’s Cowboy dom series, and each cowboy just keeps getting hotter and hotter as the series progresses on!
In this book we focus on lawyer, rancher and of course, Dom, Ben Shylock. He’s an almost happy guy, except he thinks about his close friend and sometimes sub Nan Myers. She had gone off to visit her brother and she ended up gone for 10 months.
Little did Dan know, Nan had come back to town after dealing with the worst week of her life. She meets someone while visiting her brother who changes how she feels about playing, so she desperately tries to avoid Master Dan upon her return. But Dan isn’t having any of that, and he soon finds out just what happened in New Orleans.
It’s a thrilling, erotic page turner that will have you strapped to your comfy seat of choice from page 1 until the end! This is one you don’t want to miss out on!
If you’ve been following the “Cowboy Doms” series, then you’ll remember Dan Shylock. He’s the lawyer that moved into town, bought the ranch, and then became part of “The Barn”. Of course, Nan runs the tea shop in town, she’s also one of Tamara’s best friends and has been since they were teenagers. She and Dan make the perfect partners at The Barn. They have that unique relationship of being intuned to each other as play partners in a scene and friends with an easy camaraderie anywhere else. That was until Nan took a two week trip to New Orleans to visit her brother that turned into ten months. At that time no one heard from her. All their texts and calls were answered by her brother in very short and cryptic answers. After ten months when she did return to Willow Springs, Nan wasn’t the same vivacious person that left. Dan would know if anyone would, and he wanted answers and intended to get them. Before I go on with my review, let me just say, there could be triggers in this book. They are deep, dark, and did make my heart stutter and blood run cold but the love and care of friends, including one special Dom, and the determination of one submissive, there is a very happy ending. I loved this story and just had to sigh with contentment by the time it said ‘The End.’

Wow. What a wonderful book and great ending to the series. So glad Nan and Dan finally got together as a couple. The hell that Nan went through was tough, but glad all her friends were behind her to help. This was a great series and sorry to see it end. Enjoy.
This is an exciting, emotional, suspenseful read with a well written storyline and sexy, captivating characters. Dan, a rancher and lawyer has been Nans Dom for years and they are good friends as well. When Nan goes to New Orleans for a 2 week vacation and doesn’t return, her friends and Dan call her, text her but she never responds. Her brother Jay fields the calls and replies to the texts. Ten months later she finally returns. Immediately Dan notices she isn’t the same girl, suspects something bad happened to her and is determined to find out what and to help her get her life back. Loved this book.

Our heroine goes back to her hometown to get away from a tragic past. Can her former friends and lover help her overcome the past?
This is book four in the series, but it stands perfectly well on its own. Feel free to start anywhere in the series.
This is an erotic story with elements for BDSM and menage, but it also involves a mystery with a bit of intrigue. While not a simple straightforward plot, the story is very well written and easy to read. The mystery of our heroine’s back story gets revealed over time and keeps you engaged trying to piece together exactly what is going on. In the meantime, you get the distraction of the growing chemistry between our characters. I found the story to be quite engaging and it kept me turning pages to see what came next.
Highly recommended.

Nan and Dan (gotta love the rhyming names) are long time friends and frequent play partners. Neither of the inclined to have a more permanent relationship. Coming home after a mysteriously long absence, she’s not exactly forthcoming with answers to everyone’s questions. Reliving her nightmare is not something that she wants to do but she struggles everyday. Dan is very observant and quickly figures out something went very wrong while she’s away. Ever so slowly he coaxes the story from her and gives he the comfort and feeling of safety that she needs to heal.
This is the 4th book in the Cowboy Doms series and I have been waiting for Dan and Nan’s book for a long while. I knew it would be explosive but had no idea it would be anything like this. Nan went back home to visit her brother in New Orleans and while she was there she wanted to visit a kink club. So she explored some and thought she was being smart but ended up getting hurt. She comes back home to Montana but doesn’t any of her friends least of all her Dom what happened. She is as skittish as a new kitten and jumpy too. Weird things are happening around her and she still doesn’t open up about her past. This book was so believable to me as a woman who has lived this. I started reading and thought holy moly she is writing part of my life. It does have abuse so be aware, but it is answered too. We get to see many familiar faces from The Barn and around town and see new ones too.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series which is waiting for me to crack it open.
Not a good Dom for handling the sub’s situation
Submitting to the Lawyer is the first book I have read by BJ Wane and I liked the author’s writing and story telling styles. As this book is the fourth in the Cowboy Doms series I was not sure if there would be characters and story details that I would not be able to follow but find that to be an issue. The story-line was interesting but there were some things that just did not ring true or even remotely what a real Dom would think, or should think and do. So for me this was not a great first introduction to BJ Wane. But I will read another book or two before making up my mind about the author, as I am hoping it was just this one book that did not work for me.
But remember that just because I am not a fan of Submitting to the Lawyer does not mean that other readers won’t love it. After all we all have our own tastes.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This story is like it´s predecessors a bit over the top but it is fun to read and while having fun reading a story equals in my mind as a good one. If it can keep me going and keep my focus on the story and not everything else around, well that is a good story. While this one did all that it also had a storyline, it had reference to previous stories and characters and then the characters themselves were absolutely fabulous. Of course the leading cowboy is as over the top as is possible in the spank bank area as well as other areas, but the heroine doesn´t really give any less back. It was just delightful to read and I am giving it beautiful four stars.

Nan returns home after being in New Orleans for 10 months where she had a bad experience that causes her to cut all ties with her friends in the BDSM lifestyle. Dan is a dom who Nan has played with and trusted, he’s determined to help Nan heal and learn to enjoy herself again. This story is full of emotion and mystery. It’s well written and I couldn’t help but love the main characters.

This is a well written book, with plenty of suspense, BDSM action, hunky cowboys, and sex. But what makes this book really special is how it presents different types of PTSD. There are minor characters that Dan, the cowboy lawyer has hired to give them a second chance after fighting for our country and then turning to drugs to handle their PTSD. But it is mainly about Nan’s PTSD that she is suffering after having been cruelly and criminally by a Dom in another city. Her mistake was in trusting him, and he was not a trustworthy man. I feel this is so important, because even if you are a masochist and enjoy the BDSM lifestyle, it is important to remember that abuse can and does happen in that world. In that way, this book sends such an important message. Beyond that it is about loving friendships, and forgiveness and healing.

Nan has returned to town after a short vacation with her brother. She isn’t the same submissive and friend that Dan remembers before she left. He is determined to find out if she was abused and has trauma from it. Nan is determined to move on with her life after the trauma she experienced while on vacation. Will the couple let their stubbornness get in the way of their relationship becoming more? A good read that I recommend.

Hot, spicy will keep you turning pages. It’s romance with elements of BDSM and power exchange .
It’s also sweet. Her Dom is her protector and definitely her well being is his priority .
But also this book shows what is NOT relationship between D/s. I was hurting while reading her “experience “ from New Orleans.
Adding some suspense brought the storyline up a little.

This is an extraordinary read. Nan’s trauma was handled in a way that way haunting yet tasteful. I loved the way that Dan helps Nan in her situation. Together they have a beautiful relationship that can handle anything. This is a read that contains possible triggers for some readers.

Danger Still Lurks
B.J. Wane has done it again with the fourth installment in her new Cowboy Doms series. As before, this book is better than the last and my favorite until her next book.
The week vacation Nan Meyers took in New Orleans to visit her brother turns into ten months. To make matters worse, she cuts all contacts with her friends back home a few weeks after she got there.
Now she is back which Dan Shylock the sexy hot handsome lawyer by day; rancher in his spare time is relieved to hear.
But is shocked when he sees Nan the smart, independent businesswoman is gone and now in her place is a broken down fragile person who is deeply afraid.
What happened to her? Dan intends to find out whether she likes it or not and find a way to fix it.
The two of them get closer as time progress, but something is still going on.
This book is full of trust, forgiveness, betrayal, drama, mystery, suspense, and danger.
Nan is missing, and Dan is looking desperately for her. She nearly died in New Orleans could this be connected? Will Dan get to her in time?
Great book! I suggest you read this book! Read the entire series!
Dan’s friends at the BDSM club are all pairing up and getting married. Nan was his favorite sub, and they were friends outside the club, but she’s been gone for months. She returns home – finally – but she’s still suffering from the after-effects of a traumatic experience in New Orleans, and she’s not talking about it. He makes a deal with her, that she’ll start to talk to him with a renewed dom/sub relationship, and his little filly will be hers. This new relationship has them both not knowing how to handle each other – they both want something more, but think that the other doesn’t. Nan thinks she’s losing it when strange things begin to happen – her purse goes missing, the lights go out. That’s a complete shocker to find out who’s behind that! I started this book thinking what am I reading? As I got into it, I realized what a great story it was – action, romance, suspense, hot cowboy. I read it in one sitting, and now I have some books to go back and check out.

Submitting to the Lawyer is the fourth book in the Cowboy Doms series. Nan has been away from home for the past ten months. What started as a short vacation turned into a terrifying experience and Nan pushing everyone away, including her best friend and favorite Dom, Dan. When Dan notices red flags about Nan’s behavior, he’s determined to get the whole truth, by any means necessary. They’re both surprised when they start to fall in love with one another, but when Nan is being threatened again, will Dan be able to save her in time?
Oh my goodness, what a heartbreaking romance about healing, the strength of friendships, and the building of love. Dan and Nan blew my mind with their stubborn ways, their trust, their ways to cope with her pain, and with their passion! Nan had such a terrifying experience, but I loved her determination to get her life back the way she wanted and the inner strength she had, even when she thought all hope was lost. Dan stole my heart when he offered the perfect solution to Nan to get her back. While it may not have been a traditional solution, it absolutely worked for them, their relationship, and their trust. They definitely had a unique relationship that many people in the book commented on, but I loved the ease that they had with each other. I loved the little mystery going on with Nan once she arrived back home, too, and it added a lot to the ending! I was thrilled with this book, with this couple, and I can’t wait for more from Ms. Wane!
Returning home…
Nan has been a “presence” in the other three books in this series. She’s the sub all the Doms have a soft spot for and the friend all their subs love. So why has she stayed away so long on what was supposed to be a short visit with her brother? Why has she cut off all contact? When Nan returns home, she knows she will have to answer to her friends but hopes to do it on her own timetable. Dan realizes his favorite sub is hiding something and aims to find out what. As these two “work” to help Nan get her life back, they realize that, maybe, there’s more to their relationship than they thought. When strange things keep happening, Nan starts to think she’s losing her mind or is someone out to get to her? Honestly, this is the most “intense” read of the series. I ended up reading way past by bedtime because I HAD to finish it in one sitting!
