A Masters and Mercenaries Novel by Lexi Blake

Reading the first chapter of this book is tough because it means reliving Theo’s “death” and all the emotions tied to it. I was, once again, brought to tears by Lexi’s words as she painted the pictures of an op gone so wrong. She created the ultimate evil in Hope McDonald who is the ultimate prize along with The Collective for McKay-Taggart. She needs to be stopped and NOW.
Theo and Erin are among my favorite couples from Masters and Mercenaries. Finally getting to read their back story was heartwarming and yet sad when coupled with their new struggles. Emotional acceptance of change and new realities is the dynamic in Theo’s rescue and return. Theo is trying to reconcile who he is now with who he was then. Erin tryng to accept the new Theo when she sees flashes of the old Theo. They are caughtbup in an emotional storm that could very well end them as a couple if they cannot reconnect.
Finally. A wonderful story about Erin and Theo’s love and the power of family.
I just don’t know where to start. So, they got Theo back and he came with a friend that had his memory easred.. Theo is trying to get his life back and his his friend Robert is trying to figure out where he fits in now that he is not with the evil Dr. McDonald anymore. Meanwhile Theo and Erin are trying to get their lives back together. Theo haven’t even held his son but once and Erin told him that that didn’t count because its easy to take care of a sleeping baby, it only counts if he is a wake.. One day Dr. Hope McDonald called Erin and she told her that she was going to get her prize back and her son. That’s when Erin know that something was wrong and went looking for Theo. Erin, Big Tag and couple of other guys from Makay Taggart went to the park where Robert and Theo were supposed to be having lunch, they got there just in time to save them from being taken
I waited to get to the book where Theo and Erin were reunited. I listened to the audio book for SEVENTEEN HOURS. I REALLY wanted to like this book.
I was so unbelievably sick of this book. The back and forth about being worthy or not being worthy. The overwhelming guilt, the pity parties, etc. It was too much. The book went on forever. It is much harder to skim through an audio book, but had I had an ebook or paperback, I would have skimmed the majority of this book.
The narration was good, as usual. l know that there was romance, some steamy scenes, some action, and the usual Ian Taggert humor, but it was all overshadowed by the other crap.
The guilt, recriminations, arguments, etc. and all of that in the book went on entirely too long. This will probably be my last book of the series. It is too exhausting to get through one book.
There are characters that were introduced in other books and I want to know what happened to them, but every book seems to drag things out entirely too long. The turmoil is never ending.
Finally
Theo’s story is something I’ve waited for a long time to read.
This series is so excellent, the author has created a world that’s intriguing, exiting, fun, emotional and most of all filled with love.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Lots of good dialogues
Sizzling chemistry between the couples
The Love and connection between all the characters is described in a way that makes me want to be part of this world. When reading the stories I feel like I’m a part of it all.
If you want a series to read that will have you longing for the next book as you finish the previous this is IT!!!!!
5 stars for Erin and Theo
One of my favorites in the masters and mercenary series
Love this series
An engaging, must read for the series
I’m relatively new to this author and while I’ve read several books in the Masters and Mercenaries and related series, there are a LOT of books I haven’t read yet, so I’m not sure how much of Erin and Theo’s backstory was already mentioned in the previous books and how much is being told for the first time here. Note that while this book can be read as a standalone, there are a lot of characters carrying over from book to book, so the more familiar you are with the series, the more you’re going to enjoy this.
The reason I picked this particular story up was that the author was starting a new series featuring an important secondary from this book as one of the main characters, and I thought it would be nice to actually have the background before diving into the series, lol. It hadn’t taken more than a few pages, though, before I was engrossed in Theo and Erin’s story for its own sake. My heart was breaking and overflowing by turns (and yes, there was some laughter, too) and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see if they were going to get to their own HEA.
This author continually blows me away, with such great characters, both the ones you love and the ones you love to hate. I love the complex relationships and the number of characters adds to the realism of the world the author has built, even if it does make it a little harder on relative newbies like myself to keep track of everybody.
An engaging read with great characters and lots of feels, this is a must read for the series. 5 stars
After coming back from being dead Theo Taggart did not know who he was, but he knew that Erin was a part of his life but he did not know how she was a part of his life. He finds out that he has a little boy but he just do not feel anything toward the boy yet.
Erin has high hope that she can get threw Theo and make him be like he was before, but she has a long road ahead of her. Will Theo remembers who Erin is with out hurting? Will he turn to love little TJ as a father loves his son? Or will Hope take away everything again? You will have to read this book to find out.
Lexi Blake Masters & Mercenaries is my favorite series, if you haven’t read it, please do because you won’t be disappointed. Love all the characters in her books, they feel like family…if your family is a bunch of ex military big old Doms.
This is one of my favorites in the series. I love the characters and how they come through such tragedy to be together. So beautiful.
Loved the characters and how they learned from each other.
