Second chance at the fairytale
I really like intertwined stories. They can be read as standalones but bring so much more to the table because we get to see the HEA for someone from a previous story. Daisy is a single mom of twins she’s had a rough road but is getting back on her feet. Theo is the boy she should have ended up with but circumstances took him in another direction. Now he’s back and determined to get back the fairytale. Romantic & steamy. Crystal Cove’s magic will draw you in. Can’t wait for more.
Stupid Cupid is book two in the Crystal Cove Holidays series by Dee Ellis. I loved this one! It was sweet and sexy and just made me happy. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Theo Valentine left Crystal Cove ten years ago for Boston with a broken heart and a vow not to look back. His father wanted more for Theo than what this small town had to offer. Theo just wanted to forget the beautiful girl that he had dreamed of a Happy Ever After with but would never get it. Now he is forced to come back to Crystal Cove with guilt and regrets. He has some legal matters to deal with and then plans to return to Boston where he has built a very profitable life for himself. He knows he’ll have to face her eventually but hadn’t planned on it so soon. One look at her and the years just melt away. All of his feelings come rushing back.
Ten years ago Daisy Kirkpatrick thought she was doing the right thing. She certainly didn’t get a happy ever after but she did get her twin babies that make everything worth all the heart ache. On just a regular day while working in the town diner, she looks up and there he is, the man that still holds her heart, the man she hasn’t seen in ten long years. Can he ever forgive her? Could this be their second chance?
With a whole lot of wrong assumptions and lack of communication before, Theo and Daisy are given this second chance to get things right! There are still plenty of obstacles but Theo is determined to get the girl this time and make her his.
This was such a sweet, sexy little story. I read it in just a few hours and it left me with all the warm and fuzzies. I really am enjoying this series and look forward to reading the next book three, Chasing Glory, which is Grady’s story.
So there were several aspects of this book that makes it one of my favorites. First, I’m a sucker for holiday romance; Christmas and Valentines being my favorites. Second, I love erotic romance. (who doesn’t 😉 ) That said, there are erotic novels and there are romance. But when an author can give both by making me believe in the love and not only lust…well…that’s another plus. Third, Stupid Cupid was fast paced and the writing flowed well enough that I devoured it quickly. And finally, Dee Ellis is an author that hasn’t let me down yet and I don’t foresee that ever happening. Dee is one of those authors whose writing speaks to me. Yeah, that may sound cheesy but I like what I like.
Theo Valentine is returning to Crystal Cove after being gone for ten years. He left as a teenager and never looked back. Until now. Theo left for a few reasons but the main one was Daisy Kirkpatrick. She was the girl next door, literally. She was the one he wanted to make a future with. Unfortunately, Daisy was also the one who broke Theo’s heart. Since this is such a fast-paced, short read, I won’t give details away. I will add, however, that things aren’t always what they seem. As a result, Theo regrets his hasty run from Crystal Cove. He realizes he should have stayed and fought for what he knew all along was his. Daisy.
In the ten years, Theo was gone, Daisy has not had an easy or happy life. She ended up will a selfish a-hole of a man she never loved. Dix. He treated her badly to say the least. The only good things that came out of her marriage to Dix (yeah, that name is completely fitting), is her twins. Oh. My. Gosh…those babies were adorable and scene stealers as well. 🙂
Theo and Daisy had to work for their HEA. They definitely had chemistry that was scorching AND the love they once had for each other never diminished. There was some miscommunication and secrets (on Theo’s part) from early on that added the angst needed to make their happily ever after so much more satisfying.
Oh, and that last chapter AND epilogue was amazing. I was goofy-grining the whole time. Add in the twins and it was so swoon-worthy. Totally romantic for Valentines Day.
Yes this is a Valentine’s story but it’s so much more. Cupid will strike you the instant you begin to read. Theo and Daisy’s characters are so relatable that you can actually be with right there with them living day to day in Crystal Cove. Dix is absolutely a D that’s without a doubt but we always have to have that one person around right?. My heart aches for Theo and what he went through personally and then as he’s grown older. Daisy’s been through quite a bit herself but I love the woman she is and how she’s overcome her own obstacles and remains so strong. The intensity and love that Theo gives is unlike any other. The sex is hot damn ” I’ll have what she’s having please ” kinda feels, yeah it’s that good and then some. I don’t want to give anything away but this story pulls at the heart strings in a beautiful way, I was having some teary moments but that just goes to show that this story feels so incredibly real. To sum it all up, WOW! Must read, hands down loved this story. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
