He’s a librarian by day and the ideal fake boyfriend by night. When it comes to women, I know what they want. And all day long, I give it to them. Dark, broody, and sexy? You got it. Need to laugh? I’m your guy. Desperate for something to put you in the mood? You’ve come to the right place, kitten.Every morning when my library opens, there’s a line around the block, the ladies flocking to me in … block, the ladies flocking to me in need of their next book boyfriend. I’m that dude. The one who knows his way around the romance section.
And after years of study, my skills don’t stop at the day job. Need a fake boyfriend, fiancé, or friend-with-benefits? I know that plot. I also know to keep my heart off the table, because love is only real between the pages of a book.
So when Parker Elliott needs a temporary fake boyfriend for a reunion, of course I step in. She rocks a mean guitar, she has no idea how sexy she is, and we have something of a history.
Easy, right?
Yep. Piece of cake.
Except this time, I’m actually in danger of falling in love.
Stud in the Stacks is 55,000 sexy, hilarious, sometimes embarrassing words, complete with tacos, romance novel love, unicorn parties, and no cheating or cliffhangers.

Stud in the Stacks
This is a fun read.
Parker is a socially awkward, emotionally scarred but generally happy woman. She’s had awful luck with men & mostly puts it down to herself, having been badly bullied in her teens she has a skewed view of herself! Recently promoted to a top management position, finally! She needs a date to her High School reunion and while there she has to connect with an old friend, he owns a company her Boss is interested in. So she tries to win a bachelor at a charity auction!
Knox is a Librarian. Romance books are his passion, his blog name is Mr Romance. To pay his way through Grad School he worked as an exotic dancer, he was Tarzan. At a superhero charity auction for literacy, he unpacked his loincloth to shake his money maker because – Literacy!! A woman that intrigues him gets outbid but then she stood him outside & spews words at him about awful things that happened to her at school & that she wants him to take her to her reunion so she doesn’t look like a loser still!
That is how Parker & Knox meet as adults. I adored these two, they just got each other. They had bumps in the road – his Nana, her brothers! Their life goals. Its really sweet, romantic, steamy & funny though.

Stud in the Stacks is the second book in the Girl Band series. Knox is known as Mr. Romance, an avid romance reader, one who knows all the tropes and happy endings, but nothing could prepare him for Parker Parker Elliott, a damsel in distress, in need of a fake fiancé, and his old babysitter. As they spend more time together, will this modern day hero addict convince his damsel of their true love?
Oh my goodness, this book was so good! I absolutely fell in love with Parker Parker Elliott and Knox! I loved their playfulness, their banter, his ability to draw Parker out of her shell, and her ability to push Knox to be a better version of himself. Parker was hesitant, trying so hard to prove herself, had the best “little” brothers, and had such a huge heart. Knox was known a bit as a womanizer with a hero complex, but I loved his depth, how much he cared for his family and his romance novels, he fought for what he believed in, and I loved his family, too! Their connection felt both genuine and fun, steamy too, and I loved watching both characters become better versions of themselves during the pages of this book. I was laughing out loud at times, felt compassion and so much heart at others, and loved Parker’s warrior scene towards the end! I am loving all of the community that Ms. Grant’s books bring, with siblings, best friends, crazy family members, and you just can’t help but fall in love with these characters!
As usual, Pippa didn’t disappoint! So much fun to read her books!
Stud in the Stacks is the first Pippa Grant book I read. Now I am hooked. I cannot get enough of Pippa!!
Parker is introduced in the first book to Pippa world, Mister McHottie. She is the VP in an organic supermarket owned by her best friend’s boyfriend. Knox is a romantic at heart. He’s a librarian in the adult section and recommends romances to all the overworked mom’s and women that come to him for advice. He also runs blog, Mr. Romance. Parker and Knox meet up at a literacy auction. Knox is the one in the Tarzan loincloth. Through laughter, unicorns, Nana, alien romances, Boy bands, the story unfolds. A fun, romanic, and touching book that you will not want to put down!
Let me tell you, Pippa sure knows how to create a fun, no holds barred world. She intertwines her different series so that you never have to give up your favorite characters. She has a way of writing that is effortless, that you truly feel like you are there in the world she creates.
Pippa Grant is definitely a “one-click” author for me. I have gone back and reread all her books, that’s what makes a great author!
Yep. This is humor right up my alley. I’m starting to think, though, that reading more than one book about these characters in a twenty-four-hour period is hazardous to the health. My ribs ache from laughing so hard. Knox is perfect. Probably too perfect, but that’s okay, I’ll take him anyway. Parker’s neurotic soul tells me I’ve found my people. I can’t say “I’ve been there, done that” to most of her experiences, but I’ve certainly experienced most of the emotions. She drove me batty, but I think that’s because it was so easy for me to connect with her. I’m loving these over the top families. They often have a funny way of showing it, but it’s pretty obvious that they all love each other. And, I think it’s funnier than all get out that the author plugs her own work in this book.
Stud in the Stacks is a standalone, fake fiancé romantic comedy that is told in the first-person point of view of Knox and Parker
Knox loves his job a the library and helping recommend romance novels to everyone and when he is not working at the library he is writing his Mr. Romance blog. Knox loves his romance novels and it helps him in all aspects of his life as well as being the perfect fake boyfriend/fiancé/husband but he is still having fun and does not want a serious relationship or marriage. When Knox’s friend convinces him to do a bachelor auction for charity he agrees and breaks out his Tarzan loincloth for the superhero auction.
Parker’s boss, Chase, wants her to attend her high school reunion to try and talk to Randy Pickle about selling his organic hops to Crunchy. Parker does not want to go back to her high school or have her secret outed so she convinces Chase to give her money to bid at the auction for a fake fiancé for her high school reunion. When she loses the bid after the auction Parker begs Knox to consider going with her.
As Knox and Parker start spending time together things always seem to get in their way of spending time together like Knox’s Nana and Parker’s brothers. When both Knox and Parker’s jobs are put on the line they manage to get behind each other and help the other get through the rough patch and both come out stronger on the other side.
Stud in the Stacks was another laugh out loud read for me. I think I have found another new favourite author that I can not put the books down. Parker got a little on my nerves with the whole “oh whoa is me” attitude that nothing she does is good enough. After Mister McHottie, I pegged her to be a little stronger. I fell in love with Knox and his all-knowing of romance and his Nana is the BEST! I recommend this novel to all romantic comedy lovers.
I’m so in love with this author!!!! I have never read/listened to on Audible, such a hot and hilarious romance comedy!!
Gorgeous Knox and beautiful and funny Parker are perfect for each other. This is a very fun and fast paced romance. Lots of sizzle and comedy. Well written and I will definitely be listening and reading alot more from this talented author!!
This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites to go to when I just need a good time! Knox will do just about anything for literacy, even a bachelor auction and that is where this book starts…with him as Tarzan being auctioned off. Parker is in the audience trying to buy him but she really wants him as a date for her reunion as her fake fiance. Oh, this was so, so good. So GREAT! So much fun. I definitely recommend this one!
This was a cute story. Knox was the best part of the book. Parker had moments when she was funny. Her best, being at the reunion. Parker just happened to be way too insecure for me. With all she had going for herself, she couldn’t manage to pull off a little self confidence? I think self-deprecating fits her character.
Loved Joe Arden’s narration. He really brought out the “Knox” in Knox. I would have given that performance a five on its own. Karen White’s performance was not awful, but it did nothing to endear me to the character. Since I wasn’t reading the book, I wasn’t sure if Parker’s character was REALLY irritating, or if it was the “voice” of Parker making her more irritating. I only know that Parker’s “voice” was irritating to me.
I also liked Parker’s brothers.
A steamy, romantic comedy resulting in a HEA.
You really can’t go wrong with Pippa Grant. This book will make you laugh, maybe make you cry a little, and you will probably fall in love with Knox and Parker. They meet at a bachelor auction and end up in a fake engagement. They soon realize that they know each other from their youth. Hilarity ensues. They soon find that they want more than a fake engagement. Can the two of them find enough common ground to be together? Joe Arden and Karen White did an amazing job with the narration!
Slightly repetitive, but overall fun – occasionally outright hilarious – and sexy read, as well as a decleration of love for the romance genre.
I absolutely loved this story! Extremely funny and heartfelt.
This is the second book by Pippa Grant that I’ve read (America’s Geekheart was the first) and she is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. You will fall in love with Knox, the sexiest librarian and romance book lover you’ll ever come across, and Parker, who overcomes her old insecurities to becomes a gorgeous, successful, badass woman. The relationship they forge is initially one of convenience but evolves into one that’s meaningful. You will laugh out loud, have your ovaries explode with the sexiness and melt with the touching, heartfelt way their love develops. There is a Nana who’s hysterically funny, as well as family and friends that you’ll wish were real and in your life. I’m off to find my next Pippa Grant book!
As I read through the McHottie’s World books, I love every character a little more than when they were first introduced. Parker is every outcast teen, trying to redeem themselves to their classmates, and I can’t help but sympathize with her. Now if I could only land someone as hot as Knox.
Stud in the Stacks is a great read, which causes just as much laughter as every book before.
I’m a little disappointed because I had been looking forward to read this book after reading the first book in the series Mr. McHottie. Knox lived up to my expectations but Parker was a big disappointment. She was a insecure hot mess. High school was 20 years ago why has she not matured by now. Hell she almost 40 years old and talked like a middle school juvenile boy. His peenie really. I loved the rest of the characters especially Nana. In to Zeus’s book next, the pilot and the puck. Until next time happy reading y’all.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this one. This was a relatively new-to-me author, it’s romantic comedy (which I haven’t had the best luck with lately), and the blurb kind of makes it sound like the hero, Knox, might be a manwhore. So, to say I approached it with trepidation would be an understatement. But I’m SO glad I gave this one a chance, because I pretty much loved every minute of it. (And, yes, mom, you were right about trying new things, ok?)
First of all, Knox is going on my list of all-time great book boyfriends. While the blurb led me to believe he’s a manwhore, he totally isn’t. He’s sweet and compassionate while still managing to be hot and alpha, funny without trying too hard, and self-deprecating, which you just don’t see enough of in romance heroes. He also breaks just about every stereotype out there by being a hot male librarian who avidly reads and recommends romance novels to his patrons. He also runs a romance blog, loves kids, and has a great relationship with both his mother and his grandmother. He’s a romance novel hero unicorn, y’all—practically perfect in every way and I ADORED him.
Parker is a good heroine, too. She’s maybe not as awesome as Knox, but, hey, who is? Her inner dialogue and the nervous chatter she sometimes spouted cracked me up. Her insecurity might have gotten on my nerves at certain points, but I was able to overlook it, because her teenage years really were terrible, and the root of her insecurity actually made perfect sense.
Other random stuff I loved:
1. Knox is younger than Parker. I’m always looking for new younger man/older woman romances to add to my list.
2. Parker’s family/friends and Knox’s family (especially his grandmother) were all kinds of awesome.
3. Parker is a single woman who is happy with her life. If not for her high school reunion and some mitigating circumstances surrounding it, she wouldn’t have needed a date at all. Her life is complete without a man, and I really enjoyed that about her.
4. Knox is supremely confident without being a cocky jerk. He’s also not afraid to laugh at himself or act like a fool onstage for charity.
5. There’s a quasi other woman in the story who is anything but typical. She’s not out to sabotage Knox and Parker in any way. She’s not the stereotypical jilted woman who is bitter and revenge seeking. She’s a perfectly lovely woman who acts like a grown up, and I LOVED her. In fact, I’m probably going to go check out the author’s backlist and see if she gets her own story at some point. But I digress…
6. At one point in the story, Knox writes a letter to the NYT in defense of romance, slamming their douchebag reporter for criticizing and mansplaining romance. It was all kinds of fabulous, especially since the NYT in real life has pretty much always been a dick to the romance genre. They’re a huge part of the reason why the romance stigma exists, in fact.
So, long-story-short, this was a light, fun, hilarious rom com that I can’t recommend highly enough. I laughed until I about hurt myself, and Knox is grade-A book boyfriend material. You can 1-click this one with confidence.

Hot guy who loves romance books as much as you do…what’s not to love!
Hello Mr. Romance. I get that this is fiction but I’d really love to see a real man read romance novels. What a concept! Very funny and a great read!
