An adorable modern love story of a smart, rich, software nerd and an elite matchmaker. All she is supposed to do is find the perfect mate for her friend’s attractive but somewhat naive and socially awkward brother. She shouldn’t like spending time with him. She should be appropriate and professional. She isn’t even looking for a relationship herself.
But Dylan Parker is totally adorkable, funny, kind, handsome, and charming. He is easy to spend time with for “research”. Evie is sassy, quirky, outgoing, observant, and as competitive as he is. They are more alike than they initially thought and a connection starts growing despite the best intentions. They are not supposed to be interested in each other…but they are. And they’re hesitant to show it or be the first to admit it. She’s not even looking for a love connection, and and he is and doesn’t want to waste his time on something with no long term benefits.
But sometimes the best laid plans go awry. And there are circumstances pushing you in unexpected directions.
There are fun cameos from some old friends and various little connections for Lauren Blakely fans, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. It packs a punch for being a short novella and it felt like a full story on its own.
This was a cute, funny, flirty, novella with lovable, sweet characters, and a fun modern fairytale-ish feel. I was totally sucked in Dylan and Evie’s story and their quest for new experiences. I am looking forward to more with the side characters like his twin brother, Flynn (yes, there is another hot, successful, intelligent nerd man!), and Mia Summers who has the been the sister and sidekick in a couple of books so far. Their time must be coming!
I quiet enjoyed this, the match maker finds her match. But the ending though that was sneaky and I love it.
Dylan is a pretty alright guy and I am surprised he was still single because he is a fairly go with the flow type of guy.
These two have that spark right away so I was interested in how this was going to work out.
Pleasantly surprised. 🙂
Enjoyed the narration a lot!
Fantastic addition to the Big Rock series. I know it says that this shorter book (not quite a novella in my mind) can be read as a stand alone – I wish I would have read it prior to reading “Hard Wood” which is the 6th book. I think this one fits nicely as 5.5 in the series. The reason I’m saying this is that there are some “mild” spoilers in Hard Wood that make it hard to pretend you don’t know what’s going to happen in “Stud Finder”. Regardless, they are both fun and entertaining reads – I’m just goofy about the order I read my series books.
Lauren Blakely has been an author that I’ve enjoyed reading for many years. She writes witty and fun contemporary romance in a way that feels like you are reading your favorite Rom-com movie.
This book/ series is a great one to add to your book collection.
Happy Reading…enjoy!
Stud Finder is a standalone novella that is part of the 1001 Dark Nights series. I don’t know how Lauren packs in so much story into such an amount of words but she does it amazingly. Every. Single. Time!
One matchmaking bargaining-hunting fashionista that doesn’t have time to date. One socially clueless tech multi-millionaire with a nerdy side that is ready to find Mrs. Right.
Evie was not going to let Dylan get eaten alive in the world of Internet dating. She is determined to show her friend’s brother that she was up for the challenge of finding him his perfect match. Not some gold-digging flinger. She knew what she had to do. That was until she saw his ass paired with his panty-melting glasses. That was the moment she knew there was going to be an even better challenge. Don’t fall for the client.
Dylan knew Evie but he never thought of her as someone he would date. She didn’t seem to be his type. That was until they got down to business with finding his match. And he discovers there is more to her than he thought possible. Was his match right in front of his eyes this whole time?
Overall…I sure do love a good quickie! Dylan and Evie are so much fun. I enjoyed every minute of their story. It is lighthearted, funny, and sexy. When you can laugh during the sexy times, I fall even harder. And of course, in Lauren fashion, you will get some cameos from previous characters and a glimpse into others…
Quotes:
“This is like Wonder Woman walking past the wounded. She can’t leave them behind.”
“Okay, fess up. Where’d you get those legs?”
She looks down, as if she only just now noticed she has them. “These things?” She waves a hand dismissively. “Ordered them from a catalogue.”
“You look like a dirty angel.”
This was a cute book that pairs up a nerdy billionaire and a matchmaker.
Dylan and Evie meet and due to a suggestion by Dylan’s sister, Evie is hired to find the perfect girl for Dylan. These two are similar in a lot of ways but yet different enough. The decide to go on a few practice dates so Evie can critique Dylan’s dating styles and the sparks fly!!
This book was cute, funny, witty and swoony. Dylan and Evie are two characters who are absolutely perfect for one another. They are both so unique and honest; speaking their mind so freely which show the comfort of level they have with one another. I low how this story included a narrator who was telling their story. It read like a fairy tale.
A little about Dylan – single man, extremely successful, funny and smart; a millionaire who was ready to find the one thing missing in his life – LOVE! A sexy nerd with a hot body who was brutally honest but extremely clueless when it came to dating. In an effort to find “the one” Dylan posted a personal add on-line which of course attracted the attention of thousands of women who were interested more in his money than him.
A little about Evie – she had a passion for “matching” things and people. She was a popular matchmaker who had helped many find love, including Dylan’s sister Olivia. Olivia then hired Evie to help Dylan find the one. Dylan and Evie began spending time together in her efforts to match him with the perfect one. The more time Evie and Dylan spent together, the more they began to realize that there was something more there tempting Evie to break rules she’s never broken before.
This was a funny story that had me laughing out loud. Dylan and Evie were opposites with different interests and opinions, yet they were so similar in so many ways. I loved they things they did for each other; the way they explored each other’s interests even if they didn’t enjoy whatever it was the other suggested. They talked about things and discussed it coming to a resolution and making things work.
The thing about these two that I enjoyed the most what the little things…..like bobba tea and taco sauce tasting. This was a quick read for me which I truly enjoyed.
Stud Finder is probably one of the most entertaining audiobooks I’ve had the change to listen to. Just so sexy, flirty, and the off the wall banter was it for me!
I think giggled all most all the way through and that is not a normal feat for me!! Plus can I say I just adored Jesse Metcalfe and Grace Grant’s narration together?
They bring a whole new level of the word steam!!
Sweet, sexy, and a lot of fun. This was a short little novella about a matchmaker and an internet nerd. Let’s be clear, that nerd is sexy and rich, so he’s the kind of nerd we all want to date. He’s a bit socially awkward, but he’s fun, quirky, and sweet.
Our matchmaker is also adorable, fun, and quirky.
And let’s get started on the fact this is narrated by JESSE METCALF! He does a fantastic job and I need to hear more of his voice.
Pick up Stud Finder if you want something short, sweet, and fun.
I loved this forbidden romance novella! Evie and Dylan are on the same softball team but are only acquaintances. Dylan’s sister and Evie’s friend, Olivia, approaches Evie to ask her to help Dylan find his soulmate. Evie’s business is mainly a matchmaker for women, but she is up for the challenge, and can’t say no. As Evie spends time with Dylan trying to learn what he is like, she begins to have feelings for him. Dylan is surprised by his growing attraction to Evie as well. But Evie will not cross that client line. Ms. Blakely masterfully pulls us into this refreshing story with witty banter, slow burn chemistry, and wonderful characters you’ll fall in love with. For a quick read, Stud Finder has everything that I crave in a love story, making it totally satisfying. I loved the ending as well, it has a wonderful twist you don’t want to miss!
I’m kind of a rom-com junkie. I devour any and every rom-com I possibly can, which is why I’m OBSESSED with Lauren Blakely a.k.a. my regular supplier. Just the title and the blurb of the author’s newest release, Stud Finder had me eager to get my hands on this novella, but finally getting to read it was even better! I love a good opposites-attract romance and the pairing of a socially clueless tech genius and a consummately professional romance guru had me instantly intrigued. It’s an online versus IRL approach to matters of the heart in Stud Finder, a fun, flirty, modern-day romance from Lauren Blakely.
Who doesn’t love a nerdy hero? Pretty much the second I was introduced to Dylan Parker, I was swooning over the adorkable tech genius. Sure, he might not know the perfect thing to say on a date, but the man is genuinely nice and gentlemanly with a wicked sense of humor. *Cue additional swooning* I found him to be charming, if a bit awkward, though the awkwardness was admittedly part of his charm. It’s up to Dylan’s self-appointed matchmaker, Evie, to whip him into dating shape, though things get complicated when the attraction between them becomes too palpable to ignore. Throw in some flirtatious banter, electric chemistry, and a few eventful not-quite-dates and you have the makings of a sweet, hopelessly romantic love story.
Told in alternating perspectives, Stud Finder is a lighthearted, endearing romance about looking past the superficial to see what’s beneath the surface. It’s a quick, devour-in-one-sitting type of read with plenty of humor to keep you grinning from start to finish and a romance that’ll have you blushing and swooning nonstop.

“I was thinking the one where you save me from my socially clueless self.”
Dylan is a hot nerd who is socially awkward but in a cute way. Leave it to his sister, Olivia to help him out with a matchmaker named Evie. I loved Dylan and Evie because their relationship happen naturally without them knowing. Those are the best kind in my opinion. Granted they were opposites in certain areas they also had a lot in common as well. I enjoyed their banter, the ease of their relationship plus their chemistry. The story was well written, the pacing was on point and I was left with a smile on my face as usual after reading. As usual there is never over the top drama and everything is handle in a mature matter with a quick resolve. Another thing I loved about this book was how current it is to the times and the struggles with online dating. I found myself laughing out loud and relating in several ways. I couldn’t get enough of this story and this novella will hold me over until “Hardwood” releases next month.
Stud Finder is a contemporary romance novella by Lauren Blakely, and I loved it! It is the story of a guy named Dylan, who is ready to settle down with the love of his life, but the problem is that he hasn’t found her yet. He decides to use the internet to help him, since he made his multi-million dollar fortune from computer technology, and so he naively puts an ad on a site that attracts all of the wrong types of women. At his sister, Olivia’s urging, Dylan seeks the assistance of Olivia’s matchmaker and now good friend, Evie. Evie helped Olivia find her fiance, Herb, and they are to be married in the very near future.
Evie contacts Dylan and sets up a time for them to meet so that she can find out more about him, find out what type of woman that he is attracted to, and just get to know him better. They meet for boba tea and Olivia realizes that she is attracted to Dylan. This leaves Evie upset because she feels that as a matchmaker she is not allowed to act on her attraction because it would be breaking the number one rule of being a matchmaker, and that it would be extremely unprofessional. Will Evie be able to ignore her attraction to Dylan and find him the woman of his dreams?
This is a wonderful short story that includes several characters from Lauren Blakely’s “Big Rock” series, but is also a stand-a-lone novella so if you haven’t read any of the books in that series yet you will still enjoy this story. I highly recommend this fun romance novella to everyone!
This is just what I needed! It’s a fun, sweet romance about a geek and a matchmaker who need a push in the right direction. I love how the author honed in on her inner most 1001 Dark Night self. She easily proves that a novella can be just enough to leave you happily fulfilled.
Dylan Parker, a ridiculously rich and completely clueless and adorably hot geek is seeking a partner. He’s ready to find the one. He initially leaves his fate to the great wide web. He’s sure the internet can find him love until it doesn’t. His sister has the perfect person for him, Evie.
Evie is the Stud Finder but will happily to become the Studette Searcher in order to help Dylan find his soulmate. Dylan will be a challenge for Evie, in more ways than one.
Stud Finder is a swoony magic carpet ride. It’s just the quickie you need! 5 Stars!
Deliciously delightful…if I may borrow Ms. Blakely’s own words to describe this fun novella!
Stud Finder is such an entertaining little read, and Dylan and Evie are just as cute as can be. How can you not love a hot nerd and the sweet girl who sets out to help him?
Going on non-dates, learning each others likes and dislikes, and finding out they had more in common than they realized, it was a pure joy to watch them fall in love.
I think I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading. And I still smile just thinking about them!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.
Lauren Blakely is who I go to when I want a fun, sexy, and cute read with a great cast of characters guaranteed and that’s what she delivers with Stud Finder. In typical, 1001 Dark Nights fashion, the book is the perfect amuse bouche; sure to please fans of Lauren Blakely as well as serve as an introduction to new readers. Dylan and Evie were adorable right off the bat and their chemistry was too cute. While the plot was a tad bit predictable, it was no less entertaining and I particularly loved the asides that the author took that sort of broke the fourth wall so to speak in addressing the reader and keeping them abreast of the inner-workings of the story. I also really appreciated the two character charts at the end of the book that explains all the connections between the characters in Lauren Blakely’s world. We got a peek at Patrick (Evie’s brother) and Mia (Dylan’s best friend and Max (Joy Ride) and Chase’s (Full Package) sister), who will be the couple featured in the upcoming Hard Wood (out October 23). All in all (and unsurprisingly), Stud Finder is another winner for Lauren and 1001 Dark Nights. I give the book 3.75 out of 5 wine glasses (and only because I really would have loved MORE)!!!
Another steamy romance from a reliable author!
STUD FINDER by Lauren Blakely is a stand alone, contemporary adult, romance story line set in the author’s Big Rock World, and latest installment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights. This is business entrepreneur Dylan Parker, and matchmaker Evie’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Dylan and Evie) STUD FINDER focuses on the search for a woman for Dylan Parker. Taking matters into his own hands, APP developer and successful businessman takes out an online ad to procure the perfect woman but finds himself inundated with messages from h*ll. Enter matchmaker Evie, his sister’s best friend, and the woman with whom he will fall in love. What ensues are Evie’s attempts to get to know Dylan, in the hopes of finding him someone to love.
STUD FINDER is a quick read; a fun and sexy story of friends, family, flirty banter, and falling in love. Several non-dates find our leading couple drawn to one another but Evie struggles with falling for a client-a client, for whom, she is contracted to find love. The premise is heartwarming; the characters are sassy and energetic; the romance is passionate and inspiring. STUD FINDER is a delight to read; a playful and encouraging story line with a happily ever after.
I love a good novella. Short, sexy and to the point. Lauren Blakely nailed it with Stud Finder!!
Hot, sexy nerds are becoming a favorite of mine and Dylan has taken the number one spot on my list. Dylan is a confident man who is charming and downright sexy. I fell in love with him immediately, especially his sense of adventure and what he was looking for in a woman.
Evie is a hard working woman who is focused on her career, matchmaking. When one of her
best friends comes to her to find a match for her brother, Evie is on board 100%. She is devoted to her clients even though that means putting her life on hold.
I don’t know how Lauren Blakely does it, but every book seems to just get better. Stud Finder, in my opinion, in absolutely one of her best. The build up of the relationship between Dylan and Evie was enjoyable. Their banter, their connection, their intimacy was spot on.
Stud Finder is fun, perfectly sweet and sexy story of two people coming together in unique way. I loved all the characters and feel this is a must read if you are a Lauren Blakely fan!!
Known for her masterfully written, mysteriously intriguing and dangerously tempting romances, Lauren Blakely is never afraid of trying something new. This time around she takes the hint and jumps right on board the romantic comedy express. Stud Finder is an extension of the sense of humor that is highlighted throughout her previous works. Dylan and Evie are just geeky enough to be adorable. All the smarts in the world, still can’t save these two from being clueless when it comes to love. When you find yourself fantasy casting the main characters, you know you’re in for a fun time.
