The moment I met Brian Matthews I knew he was the man I was destined to be with.
Unfortunately, he had other plans.
While was I busy giving him my all, he was drawing up my walking papers.
It has taken me a long time to pick up the shattered pieces and patch my broken heart.
Just as I think I have it all together, Brian saunters back into my life.
Undoing years of healing with a single … healing with a single glance.
If the words coming out of his sinful mouth are to be believed, he’s back for me.
But we’ve already been down this path. I’ve seen how it ends.
Now, more than ever, I need to stay strong and resist the undeniable pull between us.
If I don’t, my heart will never recover.

Second chance at destiny
Fake it, for real is a sweet second chance romance story about Brian and Hannah. Brian left Hannah five years ago and now he is back. Hannah now has a struggle between opening herself up to loving Brian again, well she never really stopped, or putting up a wall around her heart to him, as self-preservation that is. As with any woman in this situation it is about whether you open yourself up to possibly having the love you have dreamed of or being hurt almost beyond repair if he leaves again.
Hannah and Brian were meant to be together and in this short story they ran the range of emotions. A.K. MacBride is a wonderful writer and in this book she has done it again. This short, sweet, poignant and loving short story is a winner. Just make sure you have some tissue beside you.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This story was a quick read. I like second chance stories. Hannah and Brian’s story moved quite fast, so not sure if everything was fully developed, especially the past, but the story was there. I liked how they had to spend time together and in turn had the chance to discuss their issues/baggage. It was good for a quick novella.
This well written book grabs at your emotions from the first and holds onto you until you complete the book and makes you want to read more about these great bunch of people. It’s is a fast-paced, short read with well crafted characters that take hold of your heart. A must read story.

I love second chance romances and this one is just heartwarming. You can immediately tell that Brian and Hannah are meant to be together but there are so many issues from their past that have to be overcome. It had me on edge because I felt their hurt and their pain but I also felt their connection and their desire. This is such a feel-good story with just the right amount of angst.

Brian knew he made the biggest mistake of his life when he walked out on Hannnah. Years later Hannah still hasn’t fully recovered from her heartbreak. It doesn’t help when Brian, a new employee at her work, is assigned to join her with researching & writing her story on gang wars. Will Brian succeed at getting Hannah to forgive him?
I love how strong Hannah is! She doesn’t give in right away to Brian’s advances. She’s still nursing her broken heart & she’s terrified that if she lets him in again, it will destroy her completely if he leaves again. But they both have secrets they are hiding. What will happen when those secrets are revealed? This was a great, short read about second chances & forgiveness.
What a beautiful story about second chances. Years ago Brian and Hannah were in love until an incident came between them and they parted. Hannah was devastated. Fast forward a few years and their paths cross again. But can Hannah forgive Brian? What will he do when he finds out about her secret? And as for Brian, he hasn’t been so truthful. This story about two people who belong together but may not be able to overcome their past, is beautifully written and was a truly enjoyable read.
