A Redeeming Cupid Novel, Book 1
By: Jenn Windrow
Narrated by: Chelsea Stephens
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is well written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. Jenn Windrow is a gifted author with a creative mind, I love her spin on Cupid and how she incorporated mythology into her modern day story. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. Noel Chase has been burned by too many men, she always went for the same player type guy so when she met Len Holder, a strait-laced college professor she fell for him. But was she in love with him or the idea of him being a safe choice. She has been with him for two years when Cupid decides to strike her with one of his arrows and sends her into the arms of another, Grayson Adler, he supposed soulmate. Noel is convinced Cupid got it wrong, she is determined to fight it every step of the way. I adored Grayson, Noel was so blinded by her past that she could not see who Grayson really was. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, some twists and turns, some heartfelt moments and some hot loving and romance. Jenn Windrow, thank you for this wonderful story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Chelsea Stephens is a terrific narrator and voice artist. She does a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart she puts into her performance as she captures and projects the characters emotions into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen
This was the first book I had read by Jenn Windrow and immediately fell in love with her writer’s voice. She pulls you into her stories via the characters she’s so cleverly built. In this particular book, she had me guessing which of the two men the heroine would finally choose. Although I had an indication, the pull was how did Cupid figure in, and if he would intervene in her decision.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend this book from her series.
3.5 Short review. A different kinda of love story. The book does involve cheating. From the first chapter you are thrown into a complicated love story and triangle with Grayson, Noel and Len. Noel is a hard character to like she’s so determine to go against Cupid’s arrow and the fact that her and Grayson are soul mates, that she creates a situation that will/does blow up in her face and causes a lot of pain for everyone involved including Len’s real soul mate. I wanted to shake Noel for how complicated she made things for everyone, on one hand I get that she wanted to choose who she was meant to be with but her actions was effecting everyone’s life and their happiness. I really liked Grayson he was so patient and understanding but he also stood up against Noel’s assumptions of him, all around Grayson is a great guy, he kept encouraging Noel to do the right thing by Len.
When the man you want isn’t the one you need and the one you need is the last man alive that you’d ever want, life is bound to be a little… challenging. This is the situation Noel finds herself in and we get to join her on this sometimes hilarious journey of self-discovery as she learns which man really is her true match: Len or Grayson. I enjoyed watching Noel’s strengths and I enjoyed it even more when she was able to let down her walls and let us see what made her the remarkable woman she is. It’s sweet, it’s funny, and an altogether enjoyable read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.
