If you like a lot, a real lot of long sex scenes that hog the book then this one is for you. That being said once I skimmed them there was still enough story line to entertain me. But when I felt she needed a hug she was ravaged again, I just found it very distracting from the plot.
The story spans over 6 six years from when they first met, until the came together again. He’d had an accident and no memories of her. She’s on the run from danger but who and why?
All the action happens at the end and I think the last few chapters I enjoyed the most.
Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick
A Moving Violation Novel #2
Hot steamy second chance at love romantic suspense that sees two people that truly deserve a HEA find one by the end of the book.
What I liked:
* Sally/Kyra: a woman who has endured much and come into her own. She is smart, strong, resilient, plucky, and enduring. I liked her.
* Jacob “Jake” Donovan: ex-CIA operative, cowboy, dealing with memory issues, good friend, HOT, demanding, stalwart, lethal, good friend – I like him for and with Sally.
* The Culpepper brothers: intriguing guys that could easily star in their own books…one after the other.
* Tara: seems a good friend to Sally.
* Jake’s grandmother: feisty and fun – could definitely relate to her.
* The steamy bits that seemed fitting for the main characters
* That the threat is finally figured out and dealt with
* Knowing that there will be more books in the series
What I didn’t like:
* The bad guys…all of them
* The way both main characters were manipulated and how that manipulation impacted them and their relationship the first time around
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in the series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Paperbacks for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this story.
Strong, Silent Cowboy, by Lora Leigh & Veronica Chadwick, is available at booksellers on 3-9-2021. This book is #2 in the Moving Violations Series. I hate to say it but I did not like this story. I found the female lead to be annoying and the male lead to be silly. I had a hard time suspending my sense of belief to enjoy this far fetched plot. It just didn’t hold my attention. The female had too much inner dialog for my taste. It also repeated itself. The male didn’t have enough inner dialog, what was he thinking? Besides sex. Their sex scenes are put out there as dominate/submissive about to happen at any time. It didn’t really. It seemed a little 1o shades of grey, not really one or the other.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the electronic copy of Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book. My opinions are my own and nothing has influenced them.
Strong, Silent Cowboy has several redeeming aspects to the story. The pacing remained steady throughout the tale. However I did have issues with the time line. Sometimes it was 3 nights and other times it was one night. Sometimes it was a couple years and other times it was three. Those issues pulled me from the book.
Sallie Hamblin is the heroine of this story, and she has several traits I enjoy in a female lead. One thing I did like about her, she’s more mature than the typical heroine in a romance. That was refreshing.
Jacob Donovan is a great hero. He’s ex- CIA and now he just wants to live on his ranch, but when things quickly heat up between him and Sallie, he steps in to her help her. I also enjoyed the camaraderie between him and his friends.
There’s no doubt Ms. Leigh knows how the heat up the sheets between the hero and heroine. The passion between them is electric. While I’m not super enthused over graphic sexual scenes, Ms. Leigh are well written and move the story along.
If you enjoy hot cowboys, and a plot with plenty of fire, then Strong, Silent Cowboy may be the perfect romance for you. I can definitely understand why her book are well received. Happy reading!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I really don’t know how to rate this book off-hand. The story line didn’t seem cohesive enough for me. There was a great deal of repetition. Also I was left with some questions and I don’t think there will be an answer, unless the organization that is after Jacob comes back in the next novel. I did enjoy this book and was glad to have read it. But there were so many hang-ups with it that some may not enjoy it but then again some may.
While it is a part of a series, you don’t have to read the prior one to enjoy this one. Also some self-publishing authors may put in spelling and grammatical errors to help prevent privacy, this book had a great deal of errors. There were some sections that I had to re-read them just to figure out the author’s intent.
While this is a part of a series, you don’t have to read the prior one to enjoy this. The first book was written almost 2 years ago.
This is a very spicy read so I would only recommend it to someone over the age of 18.
ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from NetGalley 4.5 stars
Strong, Silent Cowboy is book 2 in the Moving Violations series by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick and new to me authors. I definitely need to read more from these authors!
Six years ago, Jake and Kyra meet in Switzerland, spend three glorious days and hot steamy nights together and then Jake disappears. 3 years later, Sallie “Kyra” Hamblen moves to Deer Haven because she is on the run, using fake identification and recognizes Jacob “Jake” Donovan as her guy from 3 yrs ago but he doesn’t recognize her…another 3 yrs pass and still he doesn’t recognize her.
Then one night Jacob approaches her, takes her home and now the sparks really fly and so do the dreams for Jacob. It seems he was severely injured 6 years ago and has no memory of a week while is was undercover for the CIA.
Suspense, memory loss, hot, steamy romance, secrets and so much more, will Jacob remember what happened 6 years ago, keep Sallie safe and forge ahead to a HEA? Only time will tell.
This one fell right in with my reading flavors. Ex CIA Jacob in his town just wanting to be a cowboy minding his own business. Then there is Sallie whom comes along with secrets and drama so no more minding his own. Oh and this could be a second chance too. The chemistry not on the charts have us turn the pages to see where we end up at.
OMG – I was totally immersed in all that was happening in this steamy and suspenseful read with a hot alpha cowboy, suspense, mystery, secrets, sizzling intimacy and so much more that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish and at times I thought my Kindle might melt! I loved the second chance romance between Jacob Donovan, former undercover CIA agent turned cowboy, and Sallie Hamblen, manager for Dillerman Feed and Supply in the small town of Deer Haven, California. If you enjoy a can’t-put-down, edge of your seat well written suspenseful romance, don’t miss “Strong, Silent Cowboy”. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy for my keeper library.
Woot! Very smexy, hawt read! The intrigue starts at page one and had my heart beating fast for most of the book. Sallie Hamblen is what I’d call lost…there’s so much going on with her, and in her past, and I don’t want to give any spoilers. She doesn’t trust easily – nor should she – and then she runs smack, dab into that past…
Jacob Donovan is a former CIA agent who has a ranch. The ranch connection is important as that is how he pops up on Sallie’s radar. Read the book; Ms. Leigh and Ms. Chadwick do a MUCH better job of weaving this intrigue and story than I ever could. Each chapter peeled back another tiny bit of layer of the story and kept me reading straight thru.
It is a VERY sexy story, what I’d expect from these authors, but it is also a big part of Strong, Silent Cowboy. Really enjoyed this read.
This has suspense, intrigue, chemistry and steam. I very much enjoyed reading this- I love second-chance romance and storylines. I also love when one character has lost part of their memory and is unaware it’s a second chance! This starts with Sallie landing in a small town and running into Jacob, whom she realizes she knew as Jake and her knew her as Kyra several years back. However, to Sallie’s devastation Jacob seems to have no recall of Sallie and their time together. The book picks up three years into the future.
Despite this being book two in a series, it’s most definitely a stand alone and I didn’t feel at all lost not having read the first book. That being said, parts of the mystery and intrigue get incredibly complicated – maybe more than it needed to be- and it felt like certain parts of their background didn’t make a ton of sense and never fully get explained. I don’t want to dive into the details of this and spoil the story, and despite these things I still very much enjoyed this read, but it definitely kept it from being a 4 star read for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced reader copy of this book. I voluntarily left an honest review.
Second book for me by this sister duo. I’m going to miss them! This is typical Leigh…grouchy, strong and ultimate alpha male! I really enjoyed this story. It was a bit difficult for me to connect with Sallie. Sallie is harboring the ultimate secret! Jacob will do anything for her and he proves it. Lots of action and a good dose of angst. HEA.
Sallie is on the run for her life. She never expected to see the man she fell in love with, in the small town she is now hiding in. She is surprised and hurt when he doesn’t seem to remember her. After living in the same town with him for three years, he finally makes his move on her but danger has found her again.
Secrets are revealed and Jacob has to keep her safe if he wants to have a future with her.
Strong, Silent Cowboy is a lustful romp of romantic suspense. Sallie Hamblen is on the run for her life. Her husband disappeared after serving her with annulment papers and then someone tries to kill her. Using her stepdad’s money, Sallie disappears to a small town only to discover the man she lost her virginity to is a local rancher. With embarrassment, Sallie discovers Jacob does not remember her at all when he is all she thinks about. Years, later Sallie finally succumbs to Jacob’s charms once again and danger comes calling once again. Now that Jacob remembers her, he never plans on letting her go again even as his former CIA background comes back to haunt him. The story is told through a lust filled haze as Jacob and Sallie try to circumvent danger. The suspense is good when the plot actually comes back into play but this book almost lost me with its too much sex to plot ratio. We all love a steamy scene but I like it when the plot is actually the central part of the story. This story would be perfect for readers who prefer steaminess to action. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
The authors instantly pulled me into their book as I tried to figure ouit what happened after the two main characters had met six years ago and why Jacob had disappeared. I also found myself drawn into the story because Jacob did not remember Sallie and she thought he forgot her for different reasons. I liked that this book was full of drama, mystery, intrigue, and sexy cowboys. The suspense of the story made me quickly turn the pages to figure out what was going to happen next and how all of the mysteries would turn out. It was a very suspenseful book . It was also very steamy with sexy Jacob and his love for Sallie. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Exciting and heart wrenching, Strong Silent Cowboy will keep you guessing until the very end. And secrets revealed will leave you reeling.
I loved Sallie and Jacob. Their chemistry was off the charts!
After reading the prologue, I felt that it should have been a story about their encounter 3 years prior and then not have the 3 year space between them meeting up again and the present time. It was a little weird that she purposely avoids him for 3 years, in such a small town where everyone knows everyone.
I gave it 4 stars for that reason.
Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick was filled with more sex than story, sadly. I don’t mind the sex, but I really want the story, and this book left gaping plot holes and unanswered questions about this story, not something that would be answered in a sequel, if the series holds true to form. This book had the potential of being fabulous, but it glossed over everything that made the plot interesting. It left it as a shallow husk of a sex romp, not fulfilling at all.
I was invited to read a free ARC of Strong Silent Cowboy by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #netgalley #strongsilentcowboy
A story that will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat to find out who is after Sallie Hamblen and why. Sallie had gone to Switzerland with her parents and met Jacob Donovan there under an assumed name and had a great weekend giving him her all and thought he felt the same. He left and said he would be back but after staying as long as she could which was a week, she returned home. You will find in this story that she then married her father’s aid, why, and how it ended with her life threatened and by the end who and why. Each time her life is threatened, her step-father moves her to another unknown location as he and his investigators strive to find out the answers before it is too late. This is her third move and she has been here for three years. She saw Jacob who was that love of her’s three years before that but didn’t seem to remember her. She didn’t know he had been in a blast and lost his memory of that week but he had dreams and she seemed to fit into them. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy from NetGalley.
This story starts out HOT (sexually) and keeps on going that way for quite a bit of the story. To be honest, it almost felt like it was taking over the story itself. Don’t get me wrong. The scenes were well written but they also were way too many for me. And several issues kept being gone over time and again. That I didn’t care for as much either.
By the time where the dangers were coming from was exposed, it felt a bit anti-climatic. Although there was a surprise secret that I wasn’t expecting from Sallie. I just wished I had liked the story more.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
This was an interesting story line. Lots of intrigue and secrets. I enjoyed the hot and steamy sex. The hero was arrogant as can be. I was confused about some things such as if he was on such a critical assignment how does he have time to spend 3 days in a hotel with her? If Jacob was in an explosion why does he have no scars? The constantly shifting POV sometimes in the same chapter was confusing and disorienting. There were lots of errors. Dm me if the author would like a list. The ending was abrupt .

A well written book which I enjoyed but I felt the story could have been the priority rather than all the sex scenes. Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy sex in a book but only when it enhances the story rather than in this case hinders the story. Whilst I warmed to Sallie I found it hard to like Jacob, I found him too hard & no soft centre. That said there were twists & turns, which I enjoyed.
