Strong Enough is book 4 and the final one in the Meet Me in Montana series by Kelly Elliott. Such a well written, emotional story.
Dirk Littlewood and Merit Eden were childhood friends but somewhere along the growing upstages feelings changed. Merit wanted so much more than Dirk and when she asked him to be her first..he did and made a mistake that destroyed the friendship. Now years later, Merit returns home to save her family’s ranch and sees Dirk again…what happens next takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride and keeps you guessing if these two can recover from the past and move to a future or will it all just be an 8 second ride that falls short??
I was excited but sad to get this last book of the series. I’ve enjoyed these characters and was looking forward to Dirk and Merit’s story. Dirk and Merit were friends, and good friends at that. Until one event changed everything. But neither one of them forgot about the other. Life brings Merit back to Montana, to her family’s farm. And both Dirk and Merit get more than they bargain for. While the emotions were running high, the feelings hadn’t gone away for either of them. I enjoyed the chemistry between them. The push/pull they had and how they got to know each other again. And they were there for each other in their hardest times. I couldn’t read this book fast enough and I highly recommend it!
5 DIRK AND MERIT STARS!! OMG…I love these two and their story was phenomenal. Their story hit all my emotion buttons and kept me flipping pages. Kelly Elliott is one of my favorite authors and this book is why. You must read this book….do it now.
Deep, Emotional and Fantastic! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Dirk and Merit fell in love when they were kids. It’s just took years for the minds to catch up to what their souls and hearts already knew. One word from Dirk changed the course of both their lives. Years later when they take a chance again all their old doubts and fears cause obstacles that they must knock down to get to their forever! Question is…. are they Strong Enough?
5 Strong Stars!
Two words…..Dirk Littlewood!!! Oh how I have waited for this man to have his own book and author Kelly Elliott did not disappoint fans with this one. A 5-star ending to a 5-star series!!!!
Strong Enough is book 4 in the Meet Me in Montana series. Strong Enough is a stand along but I would recommend reading these in order. Don’t get me wrong, jumping into one of Elliott’s books at any point is pure bliss. To follow the lives of these amazing cast of characters, you want to start your love for this series with book 1.
We were first introduced to Dirk in Never Enough, book one is this 5-star series. Let me say, I loved his character from the start. I loved the hints the author would give into his life, and his interaction with the other characters was the best. What can I say, I just loved him. FINALLY……we have Dirk and Merits story. To say the road to happily ever after was without heartache is a big understatement. This book gave this reader every emotion I long for in a romance.
Merit and Dirk were childhood friends. Sadly one incident changed that friendship forever. Life took each down different paths……but one path always seems to take you home. Dirk has tried to hide his pain and loneliness with nameless women, but only one woman…one name is never far from his mind. Merit has tried to keep the memory of Dirk buried. If it’s buried, locked away those memories can’t hurt you. Both learn no matter how many miles and years…..they have a pull that cannot be denied.
I will not give any spoilers in my review…honestly that would just ruin your reading experience. Dirk has his fair share of flaws, I think that is why I loved his character. The author pulled no punches in her writing. At times I wanted to throat punch him…the next he had me in tears. To be that alpha male and believe me (swoon city) he showed such doubt in himself. The way the author showed his vulnerability in certain scenes, that just gutted me at times. Merit, bless her heart. She has worn her heart on her sleeve for Dirk a long time. It’s hard to have those feelings for another that don’t see you in that light. Merit had such grit about her. She was knocked down and hurt so many times but she was just kept getting up and pushing forward. I will say this for Merit, she had gumption. A family problem brings her home and this lady takes a weight on her shoulders that would buckle most. I love a strong female lead and Merit showed that in spades. They had a push and pull about them that just worked in this book.
Author Kelly Elliott proves again why she is and remains in my top five authors. Her books are packed with such emotion. The writing is such, I can visualize it as the story unfolds before me. Kudos Kelly Elliott on yet another happily ever after for this readers!
Strong Enough is the last book in the Meet Me in Montana series. I couldn’t wait to read this story, and find out how Dirk and Merit story plays out. It was a easy to read, small town, with a bit of angst and emotion, and family antics. I like how you feel involved into the story. Dirk is a scoundrel, a champion bull rider, and lately he’s starting to reevaluate what he wants in life. Merit and Dirk were childhood best friends, neighbors, and fighting their attraction towards one another until one day when everything changed between them. Their relationship is complicated. I like how the secondary characters are in eachothers stories. It gives me a chance to visit with some of my favorites again. I enjoyed this second chance love story, and I’m going to miss these characters.
I love this second-chance story. The chemistry is there between the two, and everyone can see the love. However, it was not an easy journey back to each other. I can understand the hurt feelings, the jealousy, and the mistrust. There were some very sweet moments, yet some that were absolutely heartbreaking. I loved the Shaws/Littlewoods/Edens. They were so close-knit, but also had their trials. It was sweet to watch them all come together in their times if need, whatever it may have been. Loved this series.
“I’m tired of fighting this feeling. I’m tired of pretending I don’t want what the two of you have, because I do. I just didn’t want it with anyone but Merit.”
I’ve been waiting for Dirk’s book. I always loved his character. The sweet caring guy certainly fought his feelings for Merit.
Dirk and Merit were best friends growing up, then one night, one wrong word cost them that friendship. They were both young, didn’t- couldn’t figure out what they were feeling, both ran. Merit is finally home for good, helping run the family farm. Dirk is home from the bull riding circuit and after seeing Merit on New Year’s eve he was going to make sure they talk things out.
With arguing and not the best communication between the two, they go through some deeply emotional things. I love the chemistry and easy banter. It wa0s great seeing the whole shaw family again, but sad this is the end. Grabthi book, Kelly Elliot doesn’t disappoint! *****
There are no words I could say to do justice for this story but more then that this whole series. I mean all my emotions were on high alert. Dirk aways thought he would be a life long bachelor. But one by one his friends had found the love of their life and he was starting to think he was missing something. So when Merit returned home he didnt know why he was a moody mess. His journey to realize theat Merit held his soul in her hands but after they parted ways years ago could he right his wrongs and find his Happy Ever After with the only woman he truly loved. I’m sad this is the end to another amazing series by this Author. I love every word she writes.
The final edition in the Meet Me in Montana series. I’ve now officially added Montana to my travel bucket list thanks to the way the author beautifully describes the landscapes. Who knows, maybe I’ll run into the Shaw brothers and their extended family…. I know, I know, they aren’t real, but a girl can dream right?
Dirk is the quintessential side character, always there but always keeping me guessing what his real story was. Why was he so opposed to finding love and settling down. As it turns out his beautiful childhood friend Merit hold the answers and maybe the keys to his happiness too. Merit is back in town after having moved to NY many years prior. She and Dirk connect but he keeps fighting his true feelings. Then a sudden tragedy sends him back to Montana giving him a break from the PBR. Will this tragedy be the thing that brings Dirk and Merit closer together, or drive them further apart?
This was a sweet story to wrap up the series. I’m always sad to see a good series end, but it was done in such a way that I feel that nothing was left behind. Overall I’d give this 4 book series 5 stars. Make sure to add it to your TBR list.
Oh, I so enjoyed this second chance romance! I’ll fully admit, though, that I felt great frustration with Dirk through much of it. It is just a coincidence that his name rhymes with jerk…because definitely acted like great big one much of the time! But that makes his redemption that much sweeter, right readers!?
Merit…love that name…was such a great character! I loved her from page one, even while often wanting to shake her and drag her away from Dirk. The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and their journey, while filled with ups and downs, was a wonderful one to follow along.
I’m new to both this series, as well as new-ish to Kelly Elliot’s books, but I’ll be a regular reader from here on out. I wasn’t missing anything as far as background by not reading the first three books, other than falling in love with those couples and enjoying Ms. Elliot’s storytelling. I’ll read those while waiting for her next release!
Oh Dirk…you jerk. You found a way to change my mind about you and your womanizing ways. Dirk has been in every book in this series, so it’s not a “new” character. What is new is his story, and his version of events as he tries to navigate his way back to Merit, the girl who was his best friend. The one who she trusted for her first time. And the one that he called another name while they were together.
Merit is back to take over her family’s farm, and has returned from NYC to stay. She’s invested in keeping her family business alive, and trying to protect herself and her heart from Dirk. Things don’t go as planned as she takes what she wants from him one night, but ends up with a lasting connection. The two must navigate through all the hurt, pain, and drama that comes as a result of miscommunication and mistaken choices.
This series is a good one, if you can overlook the issues of unprotected sex and unplanned pregnancies that result from the character’s actions, as happens in this, and others in this series. Then again, these characters are grown adults, and make adult decisions and must navigate through their choices. This one, like the others, has ties to the rest of the Shaw family and their women. I’d say this is probably the best one in the series, but that’s likely due to the redemption of Dirk.
What an amazing ending to this phenomenal series! Once again Kelly Elliott proves why she is my absolute favorite author. She never fails to give me just what I need and then some.
Dirk Littlewood is absolutely scrumptious. I have been dying to get my hands on his story from the first time we met him, and he did not disappoint. He is absolute perfection. Sweet, funny, sexy, and all kinds of swoony. I fell head over heels in love with him.
While I am sad to see this series and I couldn’t think of a better way for it. I highly recommend reading this one and all the others in the series. Your heart will thank you.
Well Kelly goes and does it again with another fantastic book. What a way to end the series with this book!!!
I absolutely love Dirk and Merit I definitely love this book and I have to say its my favourite in this series. I mean I love all the other couples and their books but I loved this one so much more. I was so happy when I saw that Dirk was getting his own story. He deserved one because he had a story to tell. Dirk was definitely the smooth talking bull riding player but I couldn’t help but love him. Then he meets Merit and I loved them together so damn much. I was so happy Merit and Dirk got their happily ever after. I swear they were so damn perfect for eachother.
I had all the feels, swooned oh so much, laughed and had those hand on the heart moments all the way through this book. From the very first page till the very last I loved it.
Strong enough is the fourth and final book in the Meet Me in Montana series. I have been waiting for Dirk’s Story. There were times I wanted to slap Dirk and Merit upside the head but, I absolutely loved their journey. I could not put this book down. I went through so many emotions. This story is full of angst. This second chance romance will have you swooning.
What a great book to end this series; we finally get Dirk’s story. The author has put us through all the emotions in this book. I loved every bit of this book.
Before I get into the review, men can be SO dumb, and the author has pulled out all the stops to make sure Dirk does just about everything wrong! Merit is not blameless either, not to the same extent.
Nothing comes easy to Merit and Dirk’s relationship, one that starts when they are 10 years old. One that spans that length of time has the good and the bad. But with time comes growth and mistakes, and in the end, learning to trust. Will they get their happily ever after?
I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.
Aw Dirk I’ve been waiting for you and for you to be the last book of the series *big sweet sigh*
Dirk, Dirk, Dirk – there’s times that my sighs for you are not happy, sweet sighs. They’re more of the what are you doing???? sighs. Then there’s the are you serious right now sighs. You were making wanting to pull my hair out! The times that you were sweet though…those were, well, sweet. Made me smile and go aww.
Merit grew up to be a strong woman who had her heart shattered. Not just broken but shattered before she left home. When she goes home to stay she thinks everything will stay in the past. She’s wrong.
When Dirk and Merit start to talk again, I was with them the whole way. I was there through the heartbreak, the breakthroughs, and the love. The love that everyone talks about wanting to find in their lifetime that this author captured in this whole series!!!
4.5 stars!
What an emotional rollercoaster!
I loved being back in Hamilton, Montana with Kelly Elliott’s cowboys.
Dirk and Merit have known each other since childhood. They’ve been best friends until the day Dirk broke Merit’s heart. Ever since then Merit struggles to feel like she is the first priority in relationships
There were so many times I wanted to punch Dirk for making dumb choices. He struggled with balancing what was going on in his head and heart. I think I even yelled at my kindle a few times.
Strong Enough did have angst to the story. It also had tender moments that will make your heart melt. This story had many twists and turns, Elliott definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Not to mention, I found myself starting the next chapter without realizing it. Definitely a page-turner.

I loved this book sooo much! I have enjoyed this entire series but Strong Enough is hands down the best.
Dirk Littlewood is a rake and doesn’t hide it. But it’s all to try and get over Merit Eden. He figures the more he sleeps with the more likely he’ll be able to move on. So when she show back up in their hometown after 10 years his lifestyle doesn’t seem so great anymore.
Merit has no intentions of rekindling her friendship with Dirk. In fact her goal is to avoid him at all cost. But he’s everywhere and tries to hash it out with her. She tries to not fall back in love with the man who destroyed her yrs ago. So after she finds he’s been digging in her past she decides it’s time to teach him a lesson.
Dirk and Merit were both annoying and endearing. Their chemistry was and you rooted for them to figure it out.
Strong Enough is the fourth and final book in the Meet Me In Montana series by Kelly Elliott. I have been so excited to read Dirk and Merit’s story and I was not disappointed. Be prepared to take one hell of an emotional journey with this book. Kelly Elliott is one of my all time favorite authors. She has a way of writing that takes you places you didn’t know you could go. This book will grip your heart, make you laugh and make your cry. I don’t want to tell you too much about this book and spoil your experience reading it, so I’ll just say WOW!!!! Get this book, you won’t regret it.
