Four sexy dragon shifters. A huntress with a dark past. A bond that could save the world.I’ve spent my entire life running from my past and staying out of trouble. That’s how I’ve kept alive ever since my parents were killed by the Black Dragon, who’s ruled the world under her oppressive talons for as long as anyone can remember. But it’s hard to keep a low profile when four handsome strangers … four handsome strangers turn up in your village claiming you’re destined to save the world. According to them, they’ve been chosen by the gods to become elemental dragons—and I’m their mate.
Which means one day I’ll be the most powerful dragon of all, able to control all four elements. Assuming I can unlock my powers first…by getting intimate with each of my sexy mates.
Auric, the clever prince. Jasin, the cocky soldier. Slade, the protective blacksmith. Reven, the mysterious assassin. And me. We’re the only ones who can bring balance to the world and overthrow the Black Dragon—if she doesn’t tear us to shreds first.
STROKE THE FLAME is the first book in a new steamy reverse harem fantasy series.

This is, somehow, the first reverse harem BOOK I have read, and, the first dragon shifter romance I have read, which is really saying something about my love for other tropes, but! I will say that it took me a minute to get into it. The language was all very modern, it felt very like her body type was the perfect hourglass etc, but I really liked the dynamic between them. I wasn’t expecting the story to end where it did, although, that just shows naivete on my part, and I was immediately looking for book 2, so it sucked me in. I liked the pacing on this a lot, and it was good.
I would recommend this to anyone that likes a good helping of fantasy with their romance, to anyone that enjoys elemental powers, shifters, and good little spice scenes.
Stroke the Flame (Her Elemental Dragons, #1), my third read from author Elizabeth Briggs, an author I’d wanted to read since acquiring 14 books by her over the last 5 years. I got this book in May of last year & lost track of it until I learned there was a series. “I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to Kiss the Sky: Her Elemental Dragons, Book 2, as well as her other books. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Stroke the Flame by Elizabeth Briggs is the first in the Her Elemental Dragons series.
I thought this was a great start to a new series. Nice world building and terrific characters.
The characters, all having mysterious pasts, secrets and scars, are brought together by the elemental gods to replace and become the next dragon protectors.
Lots of action. And both trust and attractions are a gradual build adding to the believability to the story.
Great reverse harem fantasy read and I am looking forward to the next one!!
I received a copy of this book from the Author, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the first book in the Her Elemental Dragons Series. This is a multiple POV story you get to see things from all five points of view. Oh and this is a Reverse Harem story. I have never read anything quite like this before and I really enjoyed it.
Being the first book in a series this one sets up the basis for the world that we are in. I loved how this book was not info-dumpy. The Author cut out all the fluff and we get just the story. This made for a great straight forward read, especially with everything that is going on this is what I needed.
In this book, Kira is just trying to get to know her mates before she has to bond with them. I really enjoyed the fact that she wanted to get to know them and was not just along for the ride. It appears that each of these books will focus on a different mate. I can’t wait to watch this group come together and they learn to trust each other.
The audiobook has two narrators one for the male perspectives and one for the female perspective. The only issue that I had was when the male narrator tried to do a female voice…it just didn’t work for me.
I loved this series so much! It’s a perfect fantasy reverse harem story with very distinctive love interests (this is SO important to me). I read the whole series in about a week!
I really enjoyed this series! Kira is a young adult that is just getting by. She has no real home, few friends, and is looking for something, but doesn’t realize it. On her 20th birthday she is chosen by the elemental gods to overthrow the current dragon rulers as well as become the next spirit Dragon with the help of her four chosen mates. The first book, Stroke The Flame, introduces the characters as well as the world in which they live and how corrupt it is. There is great world building and it is fun to learn new information along with the characters. I also loved the descriptions, I could picture everything that was described. Great beginning to a great series!
This story starts out with the MC hunting game for the innkeeper at the inn where she lives. On her 20th birthday she s struck by lightening. Within the next 30 days she will meet 4 men who will be drawn to and travel with her on a quest. Anything else I say will give away parts of the book that are better experiencing yourself without spoilers. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this one and wasn’t ready for it to end! I loved the premise and inclusion of elementals and dragons. Kira was a relatable MC with a fighting spirit and heart of gold and each of the guys had well established and unique personalities and backgrounds. The story captured my attention and left me excited for the next one. The dual narrators did a great job bringing the story to life. Langola did a great job capturing Kira’s character and Dexter provided complimentary depth with his expression of the male characters. His performance of Kira was somewhat airy and dramatically girly, making me laugh but not interfering with my enjoyment of the book. I’d definitely recommend giving this a try if you like fantasy romance with dragons, RH, and a good balance between story and character development.
*I read this as an audiobook
ONE ENGAGING ADVENTURE!!!
Thrilling! Elizabeth not only hit the motherload, she brought down the house, leveled the field and seized the passage, lighting it up and watching it burn. Throwing this baby into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, blowing it into a tailspin with shocking results. A rollercoaster ride chocked-full of unexpected events, propelling every emotion, bursting into play front and center. Presenting incredibly, well rounded scenario’s that punch dead center with such exuberance and style, grounding in it’s strength and awe inspiring in it’s depth. Bracing the edge as drama, distress, turmoil, danger and suspense sends this little gem into a tizzy with a stunning culmination. Blundering through the trials and tribulations, along with a bevy of plot twists and sharp turns, melding this little fella together seamlessly. The attraction and chemistry sizzles as each layer is peeled back exposing a deep connection and amplifying affections, binding them together perfectly. The characters are genuine and realistic with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so vividly detailed it gives the illusion you were right there, in the middle of ground zero with them. Fantastic job Elizabeth, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
Wow, this book was so good! Was hooked from the very beginning!! All the characters were fantastic and different but loveable. Was only a little confused about the bad guys. Aren’t they turning into the bad guys? And if the dragons are worshiped why aren’t people worshiping them? Hopefully it will be answered in a future book. Otherwise it had lots of romance, action, mystery, and steamy scenes. Absolutely loved the narrators. They did a great job and really drew me into the story. Lots of passion and bringing the characters to life. Can’t wait to start the next book!!
This was my first Elizabeth Briggs’s book, and won’t be the last. This is the first book in the Her Elemental Dragons Series, a Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance. I love it! I love the main characters, Kira (a huntress), and her four dragon shifters Jasin (a soldier), Reven (an assassin), Auric (a prince) and Slade (a blacksmith). The storyline is suspenseful, fast-paced and intriguing. The romance and the steamy scenes are beautifully written. The narration is absolutely well done, easy to understand, and entertaining. The narrators have a great voice that fits perfectly the story. I enjoyed my listening. Now, I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the Series, Kiss the Sky, to know what happens next. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
A great read from Elizabeth Briggs! Loved this book so much.
This book was written well, from the multiple POVs to show each persons own journey on this new life to the development of trust between each character who formerly did not know each other. The story flowed well, with everything feeling realistic rather than rushed. I also loved that we got to learn about the Black Dragon and how she came to be, alongside Kira rather than having the backstory given to us beforehand.
Can’t wait to read book 2 Kiss The Sky: A Reverse Harem Dragon Fantasy!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration.
New and interesting fantasy reverse harem in our midst. The story was engaging with its medium pacing but picked up even better at its last 30%. The world building is simple, just enough snippets to cover the basics. The politics. The history. The system in general. As if it was easing me onto what would happen later in the series-the proverbial calm before the storm scenario.
The heroine was such a beautiful mix of the strengths of each elements. The passion from the fire, the intelligence from the air, the kindness from the water and the stability from the earth. There was no doubt she was the representative for the Spirit element. She was also selfless to let any of them go if ever one of them did want to reject the role. (Because, yes, there was one from the men who didn’t want the responsibility). But she was never too prideful to admit she did need them.
The heroes were a bunch of…sissies. They were one colossal, chaotic mess. Their elements clashed at one another. But the series was just starting so I’d like to see them grow later. The sooner, the better.
An electrifying read!
Four sexy dragon shifters…
A huntress with a dark past…
A bond that could save the world…
Holy gods! What a fantastic fiery read and a hellva ride for these characters.
I am so impressed by the author and this world she created. A world filled with the gods, elementals and an oppressive regime.
The story was absolutely wonderful and progressing so well that I am impatient for the next book. Once I started this book, I couldn’t stop – it is currently way past midnight when I finished this book.
Once I read that blurb, I knew I needed to read this book and, boy, did it not disappoint at all. So intrigued and curious for the next book and what is to come.
Full of gods, elementals, dragons, action, adventure, attraction, bonds, enemies, destiny and romance.
Perfect for readers of fantasy reverse harem romances.
Audiobook
My word! The narrators were awesome – they fit the characters perfectly. Loved how Lia expressed the heroine’s emotions. Fantastic!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Book one in the brand new Her Elemental Dragons series and what incredible start it is too. I am totally hooked now and have been from the very first page where we are drawn into an incredible fantasy world that I wished I lived in. We get to meet Kira a seemingly normal girl until her twentieth birthday when everything changes. Four men are drawn to her whether they want to be or not and together they discover a destiny that none of them saw coming. I cannot get over the world building in the this book and the characters just made it even better. If you enjoy fantasy reverse harem novels and dragons then you really have to go read this. I highly doubt you will regret it. I loved every single minute of it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I’m sorry but I’m not going to give away any spoilers of any kind because I’m not the type that does that. So all I’m going to say about this book is that it’s a very good, it kept me interested from the beginning right up until the very end. First time reading anything by Elizabeth Briggs and I got to say she’s good at her story weaving so good I’ll be checking out more of her work in the future.
So yes I do recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a good story to climb into and get lost within its pages.
