At almost thirty, Briella Everett is finally getting the chance to spread her wings away from her overprotective parents and pursue the life of an artist in New Orleans. She has fun new friends, an apartment she loves and the promise of a showing of her paintings at a small art gallery. The fact she can listen in on other people’s thoughts and has the occasional, freakily accurate premonition is … is the little secret that inspires her work.
Syn Terravon is content with his vagabond life. He travels the world and lives as he pleases, never staying in one place too long. It’s a good way to forget about the horror that drove Syn and his fellow Firestorm dragons from their homeland three decades ago, separating them from their mortal companions. He’s about to leave the Big Easy in search of his next adventure when he spots her. His lifemate. The connection is hot, raw and immediate. On his part.
Briella is more annoyed than afraid when a tall, dark and dangerously attractive man with flames — actual flames — in his eyes accosts her outside her apartment. Yeah, sure he’s there to protect her. She’s shocked to learn the safe life she enjoys is nothing more than an illusion.
For a woman to whom hard-won independence is sacred, putting her faith in a chivalrous stranger might just be the most dangerous challenge she’s ever taken on.
This book contains adult language, and definitely adult situations.

Briella wants to become an artist and moves to NOLA. She meets Syn when he accosts outside her home. Syn just wants to save his lifemate, but she doesn’t want to lose her independence again. She doesn’t realize the danger she’s in. Can he protect from the evil following her?
This is the first book in the Firestorm Dragon series by Kira Nyte and it was amazing! It’s a fast paced easy read that hooked me from the beginning. Briella just landed her first gallery showing in New Orleans. Now she is being hunted. A gorgeous badass dragon shifter has declared she is his Lifemate. Her father is a Keeper and to top it off she is not from this world. The book has a great story, is action packed, sexy, laugh out loud funny and is full of awesome characters. An excellent read I highly recommend it!
Brie and Syn’s story is incredible. I love this book and look forward to more in this series.
Stroke of Fire is more like a stroke of genius on Kira Nyte’s part.
Having not read any other books from this author or previous books that coincide with this series (The Nocturne Falls Universe series) I fell instantly in love with this authors writing and her new ideas with the dragon shifters. After having read so many different plays on the same ideas it’s nice to see an author branch out a bit to give readers a new take and universe to get enthralled in.
There were times I just wanted to wring Briella’s neck because she was so stubborn, but at the same time I can understand her hesitance and resistance when it came to Syn and her parents trying to once again control her future. She didn’t grow up knowing that there was already a destined future for herself, one that would connect her and Syn for the rest of their lives, so it’s only natural that she would rebel against them.
Syn, while in his own way is an alpha male, he’s not so caught up on only having things done his way that he would rip Briella from her future hopes and dreams as an artist. But that doesn’t mean he won’t do whatever he needs to do to protect Briella, even against her own stubbornness.
I really enjoyed getting a chance to read this book. I’m gonna have to go back and read the other two books that go with this series so I can get the back stories to the two dragons who have already met their lifemates. I can’t wait to discover what Taryn will do about the possibility of his lifemate as well as what the significance of the woman Baroqueth is.
The author did a great job of filling you in about this world so that you were not lost if you had not read the two books that are a part of the Nocturne Falls Universe series- which I have not . This is a very different type of dragon book than I have read before and I enjoyed this story a lot. Briella seemed very young at first even though she was 29. You see her grow in the story from being a shelter child and adult to becoming the woman she was born to be.
Syn is not very familiar with how the outside world works and his friends help him along the way which is fun to watch.
Syn knows what he is and what Briella is and how things are to be but she has never been told who or what she is and as her world crashes down around her Syn is patient and lets her works things out slowing yet pushing her along the way.
The enemy in this story is a strong force and there is some foreshadowing towards the end of the book that makes me want to continue on with this series.
One thing I would want more of and there may be more in other books – but in the Hollow the descriptions of the flora and fauna are not very detailed. To have the imagination to create another world but not let me “see” that world is lacking. But there again there maybe more in books prior to this story. In saying that SYN’s home sounds amazing and I would like to stay there!
Wow, love this story. A new take on a shifter love story. The author paints a visual of the dragons with their words. Really great read.
hot, hot, hot and then some. Syn is trying to save Briella, but she thinks he’s out to get her. There is real enemies out to get the both of them though, and they use some dark, nasty magic to try and get what they want. Briella is in for some big shocks as she knows nothing of Syn’s world, and in her denial she puts them in the most danger of all. There is violence, edge of your seat danger, jealousy, and explicit adult content
Briella finally finds the freedom to live her life the way she wants it, she has good friends, an apartment and the chance to show her art. The only problem she has is that she can hear people’s thoughts, but at least it can inspire her painting. Syn loves his life, he go where he wants, does what he wants until he sees Briella and knows right away that she is the one. She doesn’t know it yet but Syn knows that she is his mate. I love both Briella and Syn , she is independent and he is going to protect her no matter what she wants. It’s steamy between them and they can’t help it. Love the ending and look forward to more books in this series.
Stroke of Fire by Kira Nyte…wow what a great start to a new series. This book is full of danger, dragons, humor and truly evil villians. The Firestone Dragons are searching for their Lifemates or Keepers as they are called to keep their race alive. This book entices and enthralls its reader page by page until you realize you have read it in one sitting and you are wishing for more. Syn and Brielle are truly made for each other. The character development is phenomenal and exacting. Secondary characters are written to bring great depth and color to the story but do not detract from it. The battle scenes get your heart racing and you will root for the good guys. Take a modern girl living on her own making her way in the world and pair her with a dragon who has been around for a long time and only wants to protect her and you have a recipe for disaster or love. This is the first book I have read by this author and I guarantee it won’t be my last. I can’t wait for thr second book. Job well done Kira.
OMG I fell in love with this book from the first page! The author created some great characters. I loved watching their romance come to life. I can’t wait to read more!!! Def. one of my new favs.
Entrancing! A lively paranormal romance that captured my attention from page one. I enjoyed the characters and how their romance developed. They were fiery and stubborn a perfect match for each other.
Great Dragon Story!
The Keepers, The Hollow, and Dragons! Lots of action, lifemates, crazy evil dragons, and sexy/hot love! Loved it! Enjoy! On to the next! #HappyReading
