Book 17 in Psychic Visions SeriesCayce’s art is well-known and respected among her peers, and, as such, has spawned forgers, copycats … and enemies. But when her favorite model and best friend is murdered—the masterpiece painted on her skin cut off her body—Cayce knows she’s up against a collector of a very different sort.Detective Richard Henderson doesn’t know much about art, but he knows what … but he knows what he likes. Of all the art mixed up in this case, it is the artist, Cayce, who fascinates him the most. While he understands her work contains an element of something extraordinary, he just doesn’t know what that is exactly or how she embodies it in her creative works of art.
But, when other models show up dead, with more souvenirs taken from their bodies, both the artist and the detective realize much more is involved in this than just Cayce’s art … It’s all about Cayce’s soul.

This was a gripping and suspenseful read that had you feeling creeped out, while keeping you firmly perched on the edge of your seat. The well plotted, paced and written story is paired with compelling characters to create a book that is interesting and compelling. There is plenty of intensity, drama, tension, twists and raw emotion as the story unfolds in this terrific page-turner. I am posting a frank, volitional review.
Before I begin reading a new book I read the synopsis and try to figure out why this book is given this title. Usually I am not able to figure it out until at least half way through the story. I thought I knew all about this title but as usual the author proved me wrong. I love stories that contain suspense, murder, new relationships with a smattering of the paranormal so this was a perfect read for me.

A Stroke of Death is the 17th book of the Psychic Vision series of Dale Mayers. I am an avid fan of the author’s other series (involving SEALs and so much more) and have only recently started reading the Psychic Visions series. Now I am a huge fan for this series as well. An unconventional artist and a detective called in for a murder, both with psychic gifts. A murder mystery, a romance, psychic skills, well written characters, and so very many plots twists. This is a standalone book and a page turner read (opened the book and finished it in less than 24 hours, much to the detriment of my other projects). Bravo, bravo!!

Cayce is a renowned artist known for using models in her artwork. Now her models are coming up dead and it’s up to a handsome detective to figure out who the killer is before it’s too late. Cayce and Richard have an undeniable chemistry and both are special. This one will keep you guessing until the end. Lots of intrigue and madness. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
Renowned artist Cayce is distraught when her best friend and favorite model is found dead in a dumpster. The detective Richard believes that there is a tie between Cayce and the killer when another death occurs. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I like that this book literally kept me guessing until the end. I also loved that Cayce is so independent and so focused on her work. Richard is a strong man who not only wants to find the killer, but is also very interested in Cayce. I admire his integrity in keeping Cayce safe rather than quickly starting a relationship. There is a suspenseful thriller with a nice psychic energy twist.
Well-known artist Cayce is widely respected in the art world but that has unfortunately attracted the wrong kind of attention as she now has forgers copycats and of course enemies. However, when her best friend and favourite model is murdered and the masterpiece painter on her skin is removed she knows that there is an art collector whos is completely different. Whilst Detective Richard Henderson doesn’t know much at all about art, he does know what he likes and artist Cayce is what fascinates him the most. Hi might understand that her work contains an element of something extraordinary, he just doesn’t know what that is exactly or how she embodies it in her creative works of art. When other models show up dead with more sections of skin missing both Cayce and Richard realise that it is not just another art – it is also about her soul. Can they find out who it is before more models die and Cayce is one of the victims too, plus can they keep a lid on their growing attraction so they can concentrate on the case?
Wow, I loved this story. It was so dramatic and I found myself trying to work out who the murderer was as I read along with the story. I have to admit I was convinced it was one person when it actually turned out to be someone completely different. I loved the way the relationship between Cayce and Richard developed and that they became good friends far before they became something more. I liked the subtle involvement of some central characters in the Psychic Visions series. Well written, easy to read and understand I was seriously addicted to the story. Definitely recommended.

This story keeps you on the edge of your seat with all of the intrigue! Once you think you might have figured out who the killer is….you’re probably wrong. I loved the chemistry between Richard and Cayce. and liked that Stephan and Dr. Maddy are also included in the story. Can’t wait for the next story in this series.

Beautiful art turned ugly to some degree in this compelling and complex story. Envy and jealousy are the ugly side to the beauty and light of the paintings and life of this artist as she finds her best friend has been murdered and mutilated. With many characters seeming a bit unstable or focussed on their own artistry there are plenty to choose from as the villain, bit with many twist it is hard to pin down until near the end. I felt it forked towards one but just felt there was more to it. I enjoyed being tested and found this a gripping, interesting and intense story, just what I wanted to dig into. I loved the idea of the models integrated into the art but then separating into a piece of art all themselves, the descriptions clear so I could get an idea of it in my head. I also love the spiritual aspect of these stories, the aura’s and bits of souls touching and affecting the characters, lifting them or dragging them down. The vividness at times is quite astounding and even a bit scary to think about. Such an imagination from the author always makes for a phenomenal read.
I had no clue on the guilty one. Every time I thought I knew there was another twist. Come into the art world with Caycee and learn about the true art of body painting. A whole other world with its own selfish, greedy people struggling to be first, a whole other world with those willing to give of themselves to help others all with art. If you have not read any of the psychic visions, do not worry, this can be read as a stand a lone. If you are not into anything that can’t be seen, do not let that stop you from reading this book, because the plot a lone will take you on a psychological thriller ride with some evil, twisted people. Thank you Dale Mayer for this arc, I had to look around a couple of times, make sure I wasn’t alone and trust me I wont be opening any boxes that I didn’t order something from! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions and recommend this book.
What a story..wow..
Cayce is a much sought after artist, and her best friend is one of her models. Cayce is destroyed when she finds out her best friend has not only been murdered, but also disfigured.
So many potential suspects, I cringed every single time Cayce was alone with pretty much any of the characters in the book lol.
This book omg.. edge of your seat, sit up all night reading. I tried to put it down to go to sleep, and finally just gave up and continued reading.
This might just be my favourite in a fantastic series of books. so far.
The author pulls you right into the story with her incredible writing. A wonderfully twisted addition to the Psychic Visions series.
This was a great story. It kept me guessing to the end. Every time I thought I knew who the bad guy was, the author would throw in a little tidbit that had me doubting myself.

This is a must read. So compelling, so addictive and so mysterious. I was hooked from page one right through to the finish. Just who was killing these models and how was Cayce involved.
Dale Mayer has once again written an amazing story full of content and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
