I’ve told him a million times his games and words won’t deter me. That it means nothing when he questions the way I look at him.How my face turns crimson not because his searing eyes deadbolt onto mine fused with his sordid words or my space that he always tends to land in.Colson Hayes is delusional, conceited and he’ll see how tired I am of his bullshit when I deliver some things I have up my … have up my own sleeve.
But as quickly as it all began, it ended — those eyes change towards me and I lost the thing he hated the most.
We’re at a crossroads, while I don’t trust him and he won’t settle for anything less than his baseball career.
Question is, how far will we jump to find the truth before it’s too late to take back everything we’ve done to each other?

Hazel does build up like no other author! I am dying to read more. The connection and the tension and the animosity between Colson and Sawyer makes these books page turners! This is a cliffhanger just FYI but the next book will be out soon!
Silly ol’ me used to think that I had a bad high school experience. Yeah, me and probably the other 94,6%, you will say. But you know what, Sawyer? I think you win that prize. I don’t know if you should or would ever want to wear the title proudly but there’s no way it’ll go unnoticed, that’s for sure. Then again – and you can call me crazy on this one – if it came with the (small/huge/non-existent – still pondering, not really) benefit of crossing Colson Hayes path, I’d still go through it all, barefoot.
We’re back at Freemont High and I literally feel like I’ve been walking these halls for forever now; everything feels so familiar. It’s like I’ve been hovering over Sawyer’s shoulder this entire time, clutching my books to my chest, waiting for the next hiccup that disturbs the apparent peace; the next shift that changes everything, yet again.
Only now – as Colson would put it – it’s Sawyer 2.0 taking the reins; she’s fighting back. She’s not going down without one.
Colson is being his asshole-y self, as per usual, only this time you might not even mind it all that much. Don’t get me wrong: he still gets on your nerves profusely and leaves you dizzy and flustered all at the same time, in this unnerving way. The thing is, you start to see a whole new side of him, and his perspective on things: there’s always a deeper meaning behind his sometimes puzzling behavior. He’s not a rebel without a cause; the motive exist only a) he isn’t aware of it at first, b) later he doesn’t want to acknowledge and c) after all is said and done, he just refuses to believe and give in to the fact that said motive still holds that much power and meaning.
Downplaying the obvious won’t get you very far, Hayes, I think you’re beginning to see that.
It’s an endless chase, the eternal cat and mouse game, only thing is they both fear the metaphorical mouse trap that is…
the truth.
They’re growing close and the lines are blurring. And that’s when things get… interesting… and complicated… and hot.
The chemistry between then can be seen and felt from across the field and through every single page of this book.
We are left with yet so many questions that we need answers to and a cliffhanger that although is completely warranted and not too, too hard on your mind, body, heart and soul, it manages to keep you on the edge of your seat, because you just know that there’s no way you’re going to miss THAT: what comes next begs to wait just a tinsy, tiny bit and after, all will have been worth it.
I’m in love with Hazel Grace:
• the alternating chapters between the past and the present are just genius and phenomenally well done.
• the plot keeps thickening; how does she even do that?
• these slow, smooth changes: the special brand of slow burn she’s currently delivering will quiet possibly be the death of me.
• her beautiful and captivating writing style: her original story ideas, her unique characters and their twisted or questionable morals are everything.
• her men: I know I talked about Wyatt before and Colson is our current topic of conversation, but can we please take a second to talk about Jake? Uhm, yes I’d like some of that. He’s warming his way into my heart and I have zero problems with that.
In resume, please do yourself a favor and YES, read Strike and continue this journey with Colson and Sawyer that, if you’re anything like me, you won’t forget anytime soon.
*I received an ARC and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.*
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, Hazel Grace always leaves me wanting more.
Gah, I just can’t get enough of Colson and Sawyer. He still is the enemy we all love to hate-but with time, the past, the present and future we see glimpses of both characters and how their story comes together.
Like they say “just keep swimming” it’s more “just keep reading” because the angst, emotions, characters and everything else keeps you guessing on what is going to happen next and what we think isn’t always as it seems.
For the life of me I could not put this book down and I’m so excited to read more.
This new version of a Dangerous tango, can have a messy outcome worse then a fall. Read on as Colton, Sawyer and Jake work to find a fielding position that works for them. You never know what to expect.
Colson and Sawyer in this second book takes you another emotional charged back and forth of emotions, and of the past they both want to forget. We learn more of their past and its not all sunshine and rainbows, It’s dark and had a whole lot of pain. Will they be able to ever get past what they both have done to each other or will the continue to let it fester? Another amazing heartbreakly beautiful story that definitely needs you wanting and hoping they get more than what they got. So can not wait for the next one
Gah! I freaking love Colson and Sawyer. I fell hard for them when I read Interference and I needed to read more of their story. Hazel definitely gave me more in Strike and then left me wanting, waiting, with a gaping hole in my heart. Book #3 better come fast. I cannot wait for more Colson and Sawyer. These two are so hot! So much angst. The heat between these two….I don’t think the fire will ever go out!! Hazel left me craving so much more of this couple. I will be binge reading all 3 books once the next one comes out. This is a series I will reread for years to come!!
Some books make you laugh, some books make you cry, but in all honesty this book gave me the feeling of driving by an accident scene on the highway…..You know tragedy has happened but you cannot look away. From the opening pages to the very last one this book had my emotions all over the place. The love/hate/desire/need between Sawyer and Colson simply leaps off the pages. Back and forth, ups and downs, bitterness, revenge, hope and love are all intertwined. I am left feeling the need to scream as well as the need to have a cigarette paired with a glass of wine. The next book needs to come out ASAP – I cannot wait! Job well done Hazel Grace – job well done.
Right off the bat- book two picks up where it left off in book one, which was so refreshing. Not a ton of rehash- or going back to drag the book down. But she adds in little details to help refresh your memory on important things, so you don’t feel lost. This book was insanely well written, it flowed effortlessly and the present and past of Sawyer and Colson was the perfect blend of angst. This book had more swoony moments too than the last, which was everything. We also get to see the two of them get even with each other in the present day, which evens the playing field.
I couldn’t put this down and found myself reading it every free chance that I had.
I loved getting the chance to see into the past of these two broken people who can only make each other whole.
