“Beyond twisted and filthy hot, Strangeways is the most unique sci-fi romance I’ve read in years!” NYT Bestselling author, Anna Zaires I have been chosen. One moment I was leaving work, the next I was entertaining a silvery-green alien intent on knowing me fully. Their invasion of our world nonviolent, seamless. They dress as human men, eat in human restaurants, vote, pay taxes, and are … seamless.
They dress as human men, eat in human restaurants, vote, pay taxes, and are controlling every last one of us.
I don’t understand how no one else can see what I see? That their beauty is a trap.
They have come here for women, intent on creating life partners—through seduction, mental manipulation, employing muscular bodies capable of fulfilling any female desire. Shaping themselves to our wants.
Until we’ve each been claimed, marked, and changed. Assimilated.
We don’t have a choice. They can make us like it. They can make us desire them. They can make us do anything they want.

This book was so hot I had my mouth open the whole time. I love, love, love Addison Cain’s books! I like the story so much that I have read this book at least 3 times. Addison Cain is on her way to becoming the Queen of IR love and romance with an erotic flare! I like the fact Phi and Emily have a battle of wills and a lot of scorching loving. Almost from page one, this book is fire-alarm smoking hot. The tension between these two keeps you turning the pages and wondering when it’s going to boil over again. This book is full of lust, love, sex, drama and intrigue. The story-line is magical. The love triangle was exciting. If you are a romantic, you should definitely read this book. Happy Reading!
3.5 Stars
Strangeways by Addison Cain is the story of Phi and Emily.
Emily is a waitress who is works hard and feels burnt out. Phi is a Alien who along with his co-aliens have come to earth to mate with women. Phi has chosen her which she is confused why he would want her. This was just a quick hot read that didn’t touch deep into the characters relationship. I overall enjoyed it.
Strangeways is a very quick read, so if you’re looking for a short, steamy story, this should do you for a couple of hours if you are a voracious reader like I am. With the only negative out of the way, this is a very sexy, but thought provoking story. It is set in a world where aliens have shown up out of nowhere, but oddly, everyone seems to be fine with this world-altering event like it’s an everyday occurrence as the aliens make themselves right at home. Thus begins the tale of Emily and Phi, a lowly waitress and an alien. I don’t want to spoil the story, as mentioned previously it’s short, but I do like the concepts in this novella. Not your usual invasion romance story. I would almost like to see more to this, but a snapshot of this particular world is kind of like watching burlesque, we don’t see much, but it really inspires the imagination as I love me a good setting/backstory/plot as much as I enjoy the sex. And like many other Addison Cain books, do expect the sexy times to be very, very sexy. Phi has some amazing anatomy that almost makes me wish his species was real. Or I could get a toy like that. To sum up, good book, but very short. But it is so nice it makes you want to read it twice!
Strangeways is a quick but great read by Addison Cain. It flows and keeps you going all the way to the very end. It was nice to read something different and enlightening. I couldn’t put this story down until the very end.
Overall I’m a huge fan of Addison Cain and her books however, this one fell short. The topic is an interesting twist for Cain’s books, extraterrestrials invading Earth looking for mates. This novella is less than 100 pages long which makes the price steep at $3.99. It wasn’t only the price or length of the book that made me dislike it, the writing style/tone is odd. I know that sounds weird but the entire tone of the book I would describe as a memory not the present. The main character seems to be thinking back to what happened not what is currently happening. Overall between the tone/style (not sure how to describe this), price and length I wouldn’t purchase this book. *I recieved a free ARC copy for my honest review*
Strangeways was part of anthology that I was excited about when told it was turning into a stand alone. A few parts were expanded upon but nothing really changed from the orginal. It was disappointing at that aspect, but it is novella in length.
Not to take away from Addison’s awesome storytelling telling. Phi and Emily’s story is still incredibly hot, with tentacle play sprinkled in there. Emily is a strong female lead who is in a dying world just trying to survive the everyday grind. Its definitely worth the read for those how love Alien Romance, or anything in general to do with alien, sex, and tentacles.
One of my favor excerpts from this story..
“God, it felt amazing. Little licks of an abrasive tongue, the sweet sweep of a finger over a slippery entrance. When Phi sucked my clit between his lips, when he speared me with that long digit, I arched off the bed and made a grab for him.”
I have never read a book that straddles the line of creepy and romantic so well. Of course its not surprising Addison Cain would be able to accomplish this! In spite of this being a novella, the characters are pretty flushed out and the world created is very interesting. This is one of my favorite short storys of all time! One minute I felt, “How Sweet, Emily and Phi are a great couple”. The next minute I would think, wait, that’s weird. Hmmm. Kind of creepy. Maybe not so sweet. In the end, it is both. A beautiful romance and a creepy sci fi story. What more could anyone want?
“My position in your life, your placement in mine, is inevitable.”
Emily is a waitress barely getting by in life when Phi enters her world. He is an alien whose kind have taken up residence on earth as the male species is dying off. Is his arrival a coincidence? Phi has taken an interest in Emily, wanting a relationship were they both ‘assimilate’ but you wonder to whose benefit?
Throughout the story I am trying to guess what Phi’s true intentions are. His sole purpose seems to be to give Emily what she is missing in life. It is disheartening that she does not believe she is deserving to have someone (even an alien) to love and cherish her. Like the saying “too good to be true” you are left with a feeling of unease as Emily continues her relationship with the alien. Strangeways is a quick, steamy read that is too good to pass up!
Cain surprises us with her new novel, an alien scifi romance. Although this is not the genre we generally associate Cain with, she has done a great job in this short, steamy, HEA story. This is a dystopian world where men are dying out and women live precarious, abused, over worked lives. Aliens have arrived on earth but no one knows for sure what they want, is it an invasion? or group of helpful benevolent saviors? Our heroine meets one of this new alien citizens at the dinner she works as a waitress. Our hero is an alien who is taken by her the first time he sees her at work. How would a relationship with an alien with unknown purpose and intentions work out? That’s what you have to figure out by reading the book.
This is a short story by one of my favorite authors. The world building is incredible in the beginning and really grabs your attention. But then h’s free will is in question. Is it taken or does she just not remember. From there on out, the story starts to get vague and hazy in relation to the ?H and leaves a lot of stuff up in the air. I didn’t really feel like the story was finished when it ended. Almost like interest was lost by the author. But not sure if this was intentional as story was from h’s POV.
I need more of this madness! Just when you think you have this author figured out she spits a crazy new story at you!
This one is soo deliciously sexy and raw. It will have the readers screaming pick me!
A must read… Honestly all of Cain’s pieces of work are must reads, so just read it. Go on one click this precious!
I read the original story in an alien boxed that I had bought a while back and I loved it! There have been some small, but impactful, changes to the story this time around. Honestly, I couldn’t see how the story could have gotten any better before when I read it in the set, but Addison manages to exceed all my expectations once again. I think the additions to this version have defined the characters that much more. A really well done story!
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Addison Cain is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Great Sci-fi read. This world has amazing perks for the aliens. It grabbed me in and never disappointed. This was a nice change of pace where a man/alien dotes on a woman and wants only to please her. I could get used to that and can’t wait for more from the mind of Addison. I hope she continues this stroy line.
Is this an invasion?
I LOVED this Story. Addison you out did yourself again! This story gave me a feeling that this might be possible in several situations real and not. I love the normal character Emily and Phi made me think of nice smelling slime. With that said I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a good ET romance story.
This isn’t the first time I read this book, but I loved it then too.
The strange was always a welcome to read. Cain is the best at the strange.
I absolutely loved this book!
In “Strangeways” Addison Cain has given us an originally different look at alien invasions. Strangeways is an interesting sci-fi dystopian tale of a world where aliens live amongst us as friends. NOT! This well-devised tale of earth’s salvation has mystery and dark humor that keeps you turning pages. The main characters, Emily, an overworked and stressed waitress and Phi, an alien invader and Emily’s lover provide an intelligent and in-depth view of the earth’s future. This is a very entertaining and cautionary tale and I loved it.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
Started this book in the evening and couldn’t put it down until I was done. I didn’t even realize I was sitting uncomfortably. I finished and found my neck and back were killing me lol. This book was amazing and I am in love with Phi, even though the thought of an alien invasion with aliens that can suggest and manipulate our minds should be terrifying. This book had a more lovey feel than some of Addison’s darker books and I found it very refreshing. Emily turned into a very lucky girl! So if you like monster or alien erotica I highly recommend this book!
Strange ways in romantics indeed, a very different fantasy of alien invading earth and living with humans. The story is not Addison’s usual dark but it is more then fun to read, packed with very steaming scenes and interesting characters. Addison had promised more alien fantasy like this and I cannot wait.
A fascinating and tantalizing alien invasion. I’m used to paranormal romances and even alien forays but this is in a league of its own. Such an interesting and realistic main character and love interest. Plus all the steamy deliciousness!
