One the seminal reads of my teens. Amazing book
Best of the best in Science Fiction!
Timeless sci-fy classic. Just reread after about 45 years. Nit still works for me.
Heinlein’s character Michael Valentine Smith, raised by Martians, provides a vehicle for looking at love, religion and the universe from a surprising perspective. This was a cult favorite when I was in high school and it was a pleasure revisiting it fifty years later.
A true classic. After mumtiple reads over several decades, this story still draws me in every time.
This is one of my favorite science fiction books of all time. It follows a character who parents were explorers on Mars and who was raised NY the real Martians. When brought back to earth, his world view, as you probably can’t even imagine. Is totally different than ours. I also love Heinlein’s works for a of the wonderful and thought- provoking quotes he has in his book that show his intelligence and thoughtfulness!
I think this book should be on the required list. it is very thought provoking. Just plan fun as well
I Love this book and say read it and you will grok why
A most inventive SF book. So well written it and late it made Heinlein my favourite author.
A brilliant book by a brilliant author. It has amazing characters, well developed and with plenty of angst. The story is original and enveloping.
Its a classic that spawned many new age groups ut has some great insite of how humans really tick .
It paints organized religion as it really is nothing more than cheap entertainment with those at the top cynically dismissive of those that follow their contrived worship practices .
Robert Heinlein is one of my favorite writers, since I started on his teen books 50 odd years ago. This book is definitely written for adults. Great characters with good development. At the time, a novel concept for a book. I have read it 3 or 4 times in the last 25 years and i always enjoy reading it. Little things I forgot about spring new every time I read it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story, great characters and some minor plot twists. I GROK this book!!
The seminal work by America’s greatest science fiction writer.
Definitely makes you think.
What do you do with a man who was raised by Martians? It depends on what you want to believe, especially since he has powers that he learned before he came to earth. Definitely one of Heinlein’s best even though you have to pay attention when you read it, there is a lot going on.. I’ve probably read this a few dozen times and highly recommend it as long as you have an open mind.
one of his best if not his best
If you are a sci-fi nerd, or aspire to be one, or want to UNDERSTAND one, this book is required reading!
One of my top five Heinlein books. But then I haven’t found one that I did not thoroughly enjoy.
read 65+ years ago
Not a typical Heinlein story. Reminded me of Poe’s work written under the influence of drugs. Really interesting description of religion gone mad.
