UNCERTAIN as to whether I do or don’t recommend. Original, but a lot of words. Somewhat complex.
Hard to describe this story. A human who is more Martian culturally, because he was raised by Martians. He has to learn how to be human in a world he doesn’t know. An interesting story. I found it very insightful into human nature.
THE seminal libertarian, original approach to community, to spirit, to relationships, to Life & Love & Everything. This book changed lives, probably can continue to? A classic for a reason: read it.
Required reading for all
I grocked this 🙂
This book was my introduction to Robert Heinlein. I read it the first time in 1969 and have reread it countless times since, as well as gifting the book to numerous friends over the last 40 years.
It’s STILL timeless!
This book was published years and years ago. Situations are a bit dated because of the length of time. But still a good read.
Classic, as good today as when first published. Perhaps his best of a long and incredible career.
A classic for a reason.
The first science fiction book I ever read. Made me read DUNE and FOUNDATION next. Then I was hooked.
A true classic from my youth
The ending disappointed me.
I read this a very long time ago. It may be time to ready it again. I remember loving it very mush and launched on a binge-reading of all things Heinlein.
Was a favorite book when I was in high school
I think Heinlein was embarrassed by the enthusiasm with which this novel was embraced by the counter-culture of the 1960s (a political orientation which Heinlein most definitely did not share). All that aside, it’s interesting and full of interesting ideas.
Classic, nearly required reading.
I good example of what made Heinlein a great figure in science fiction. Do you grok?
one of the great sci-fi novels of all time. unforgettable
There is a reason this is a classic. Yes, it is entertaining but it is thought-provoking – the issues and concepts in this book will stay with you for a lifetime. If I could only have one science fiction book in my library to read over and over, this would be it.
I’ve read it three or four times – must read it again!
