Ever wonder what you’d do if someone pushed the re-set button on the world? The Stranded in Provence Mysteries tell the story of an American woman on vacation in the south of France when the unthinkable happens. After a dirty bomb explodes over the Riviera she finds herself stranded in a French village where daily life is essentially sent reeling back to the 1950s.So now forget solving crimes with … crimes with DNA or accessing massive criminal databases. Likewise forget worrying about international terrorism, because that’s now gone too. But you can also forget spending hours on your smartphone, tablet, computer or even TV set.
On the other hand, the bistros are all still open, the produce and cheese markets still run every morning, bicycles dominate the wide avenues instead of cars, and for a budding amateur sleuth and now permanent ex-pat, any murders she stumbles across will have to be solved the old-fashioned way—with brain power and shoe leather.
Oh, and it turns out that romance still works the same as before too.

The series relies on an unlikely premise and uses hardly believable plot twists to maintain interest. By the fifth book in the series, the editing is so poor that a single chapter contains two time inconsistencies. Some might find the series entertaining but the problems with the books overcame any interest I had.
Good, clean read…mild violence, no sex, minimal swearing… only truly great authors are able to achieve this! Looking forward to the rest of the series
I really enjoyed these books. They were easy to read, well written and the interaction between the characters was entertaining and believable. I would recommend this series as a good ready at the beach or while riding your exercise bike. They made time fly. Thank you.
A very interesting plot line. And characters that are fun to follow
This is a great series to read lots of interesting twists!
Fascinating premise and especially interesting to read while still in semi-quarantine due to the pandemic. I love the sense of place in these books and the characters are uniformly interesting and engaging (even the murderers!). This is the second series by this author and I would unhesitatingly recommend this and all her other books. They are satisfying and enjoyable.
Fun description of life in rural France. If only the author and/or editor knew and could display any knowledge of French or English grammar.
The mystery portions of these books are good. However, the author does a poor job explaining the ramifications of the EMP. So many things are taken for granted. One example is the problem of sewage. Also, from where are the supposed supplies coming for the French bakeries to remain open. It is sad to note the author’s bias against the USA. She often makes remarks disparaging the US’s response to the EMP even though the main character has little knowledge of what is actually happening.
An original idea, promolgated in what might be a reality, gives us an American in Provance, studded with memorable characters. Come visit a small village in France, and see why it is so appealing, that I am on to my fifth book in the series, with two of the later ones, sitting on my library shelf, ready to read.
We need books like this: reality inside a fantasy with some romantic magnetism added on for we romantics.
Enjoyed it very much
easy read
Loved this slightly alternative view of Provence after an EMP. The characters are fun and while some of the plot is easily anticipated, it still draws me into the environment. Will read more.
Enjoyed these characters and the plots they got themselves ino- and out of!
I love the author and her books. Love visiting the Province of France. Makes me want to go back to Axe. The story line was good and I look forward to reading more. Loved them!
What fun! Science fiction and romance and sleuthing. Instead of being a pepper, I’m going to the south of France.
Without spoiling the twist – what a way to get stuck in Provence!
An interesting concept. Not the best book I’ve ever read, but pretty good. It amuses me that I am reading this book on an electronic device, while reading about an even that would render that very device unusable. I hope I never have to experience that for real. Covid-19 is enough of a character-building experience for me.
You have to just go along for the ride.
The subject was a bit over the top. They were an easy read, but I skimmed through them quickly.
wierd, life after devastating nuclear attacks. Not on my bucket list. Smart alec humor, girl manages to find some compassion and keep busy and nosy. May not finish it.. too much already wierd in this world at the moment.
