Ever wonder what you’d do if someone pushed the re-set button on the world? The Stranded in Provence Mysteries tell the story of an American woman on vacation in the south of France when the unthinkable happens. After a dirty bomb explodes over the Riviera she finds herself stranded in a French village where daily life is essentially sent reeling back to the 1950s.So now forget solving crimes with … crimes with DNA or accessing massive criminal databases. Likewise forget worrying about international terrorism, because that’s now gone too. But you can also forget spending hours on your smartphone, tablet, computer or even TV set.
On the other hand, the bistros are all still open, the produce and cheese markets still run every morning, bicycles dominate the wide avenues instead of cars, and for a budding amateur sleuth and now permanent ex-pat, any murders she stumbles across will have to be solved the old-fashioned way—with brain power and shoe leather.
Oh, and it turns out that romance still works the same as before too.

This book was unpredictable and the story line continued thru all 3 books. The main characters is in an interesting position as a foreigner who doesn’t speak the language. Who does this but you have to finish the series to find out the end of the story.
Fun & lighthearted. Also makes you wonder what if…
I tore through these books and then bought Susan Kiernan-Lewis’s others. They are charming and absurd and unpredictable and compelling as the main character slowly adapts to the leisurely life in Provence, and comes to love the quirky characters who make up her new family. The mysteries are intriguing, and the heroine’s growth through the books compelling. Great entertainment. I highly recommend the Stranded in Provence series.
This is an unusual mystery that starts out with a bit of science fiction. How would you react if the grid suddenly went blank? How would you survive in a country where you didn’t speak the language?
Found main character was too immature,Nancy Drew was brighter.
I enjoyed every minute reading these books!
Another set of books that doesn’t bother to do much of any research where girl ends up in foreign country and bumbles around wondering why people speak a different language and why they can’t have all the things that are important to an American girl. she hates France almost sight unseen, and embraces nothing that is different and just wants all of her American conveniences. The lead character is portrayed as the typical dreaded American in a foreign country who doesn’t even bother to learn 5 words of French before landing and doesn’t enjoy any of the differences of actually being in France. If she didn’t want anything different perhaps she should have just gone on vacation in the US where they speak English and all of her American conveniences and designer clothing would be appreciated. Again whoever is writing these books seems to think that American young ladies are a bunch of insipid idiots. Luckily by the end this girl is finally settling into French life to a degree.
I got this as a collection of the three books. I have read some of the Maggie Newberry series by Ms. Kiernan-Lewis and thought I’d try these. The story line and characters in the Stranded series may turn out to be as complex as those in the Maggie Newberry books but the premise of Stranded is strained; bomb and EM pulse knocks out machinery, communications and the electric grid throwing France and the world into chaos. It’s just bad sci-fi. I’m still deciding whether to tackle books 2 and 3.
This was 3 books in the series. I enjoyed one but the other two I did not.
Interesting story line
Loved her Humor…. .have read the first 4 books…couldn’t put them down!
Entertaining, easy to read story
Fun characters and glimpses of life and eating in France. Well written cozy mysteries.
Loved the characters and setting. Will read more by this author.
The premise seems absurd but the plot and characters make the stories wonderful reading. I bought every one of them and wished there were more.
Just didn’t like lead character. Too rash and unthinking. Never seems to learn and wise up. Liked all the other characters and they rang true.
Characters were too flimsy and predictable.
Excellent series
These cozy mysteries were very enjoyable. Never knew what the main character was going to do and what danger lay ahead for her.
I loved reading the books the cause was probable and the effects were equally probable and as a whole was always interesting. I would very much suggest this series for reading.
