After being cast back in time to 16th century Scotland, Nancy is embroiled in a world of supernatural beings and a mystery that brings her closer to the handsome Malcolm… she comes face to face with the illusive monster, she’s not terrified. She’s fascinated. While coming to terms with being stuck in another time weighs on Nancy’s, she finds the prospect easier to stomach with the help of Malcolm Grant, the tanist of Urquhart Castle.
Malcolm has sworn off women after one too many rejections, but the beautiful blonde from the future has him rethinking his stance on love. The kind-hearted Nancy takes the truth of her new life in stride and isn’t fazed at all by the supernatural beings and curses in her new home. The two instantly hit it off and spend more time together as he introduces her to all the wonders of the Keep and surrounding countryside.
But when mysterious troubles start in town and the finger is pointed toward the entities of the Loch, Nancy must team up with Malcolm to clear the name of their friends and to identify the real culprits, all while protecting her heart.

A Perfectly MAGICAL Romance!
Like a fine wine with a melt-in-your-mouth steak dinner, STRANDED BY THE HIGHLANDER by author Rebecca Preston, needs to be savored. Well, perhaps that was my second time through this delicious time-travel romance. STRANDED BY THE HIGHLANDER is not just lovely because the wonderful slow-burn romance is a sure bet to entertain readers for hours, it is outstanding because it tells the most memorable story. STRANDED BY THE HIGHLANDER tells the delightful tale of a modern girl, Nancy, who finds herself in the Scottish Highlands during circa 16th Century. And just when she was getting a handle on her new when and where, along comes Malcolm, the man who likes the look of this woman from the future, and the one who makes this new when and where a bit more tolerable. Eloquently written, with the right amount of detail for readers to “see” the settings, follow the non-stop action, and enjoy the perfect sprinkling of angst to understand why everyone acts in the manner they do, STRANDED BY THE HIGHLANDER is the perfect SEASONAL romance no matter the season! I fell in love with Nancy, Malcolm and the host of supporting characters, some of whom I recognized from author Preston’s first book in this Highlander Forever series. STRANDED BY THE HIGHLANDER is a complete, standalone novel. Yet, despite being the second book in the series, there were very few spoilers for those who chose to read this second book first! I loved the first book so much I gladly volunteered to read a copy of TITLE and this is my enthusiastic and voluntary 5+STAR review. If you like your romances to have a GREAT story, a bit of magic, and some steam, then TITLE should be your next romance purchase! Happy pages!
Nancy was scuba diving in a cave when it collapsed and she ended up traveling back in time. Malcolm was the lairds second in command and when Nancy showed up he only had eyes for her. But first they had to take care of their goblin problem.

The second book in the A Scottish Time Travel Romance/Highlander Forever series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Accomplished SCUBA instructor Nancy Kane gets sent back in time where she meets the Loch Ness animal and Malcolm Grant, the tanist of Urquhart Castle. I will be reading the next book. There is suspense, drama, danger, evil goblin, Sidhe, and love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you like overly and unnecessarily long books, this is the book for you. I’m not sure why the author felt the need for 60 chapters to tell a story that would take half that. I skimmed chapters and still got the whole story. Perhaps she gets paid by the word or chapter. Anyway, if you make it through the ponderous book, there is an interesting story. Malcolm and Nancy are somewhat interesting characters, we know all about her and little about him. We have Fae, both good and bad, the Loch Ness monster, time travel and a bit of a love story at 75% into the book. If you can get by the unnecessary stuff, not a bad story.
I received a copy from Bookbub and this is my honest review.
Travelling back to medieval Scotland and meeting the Loch Ness monster? On a dive into a cave system with her friend and mentor who taught her to dive, Nancy gets separated from him and when she thinks she will die in there strange beings lead her out of the water and she emerges into medieval Scotland. And another woman from twentieth century America is there also named Anna who is now married to the Laird. He and his people keep the villagers safe from the unseelie fae. But now the village and the castle are threatened and Nessie says there is a problem in the loch. Will Nancy be able to use her scuba diving gear to save the loch and thereby save the castle and villagers from the evil Fae? And if she is successful she has to make a decision, stay in medieval Scotland with the people she has grown to love, or return to the twentieth century to save her father the heartache of believing she has drowned in a cave? This book took me by surprise. I had not expected it to be so exhilarating, so thrilling, so exciting. I had expected a good book but my goodness this book went far beyond my wild imaginings. This is the first of the author Rebecca Preston’s work that I have read and I loved it. It is a feast for the senses. The imagery describing the loch, describing what Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster looked like, the beauty of Scotland, the ancient medieval castle, the bravery of the warriors and the occupants that supported them during their time of danger and it described the different evil fae creatures that tormented the area. It was interesting that Nancy was saved from suffocation by sentient beings, the good fae. Being a scuba diver instructor was not in high demand in the 1600’s. Nor did she have anyway to replenish her compressed air tanks. She did not know why she was there and why she had been saved. But the Laird’s wife Anna also had time traveled to where she was and told her that her coming preceded a time of great trouble and that she was there for a reason. It wasn’t until the war between the Highlanders and the evil fae got going and was coming to a head that Nancy knew why she was there. Malcolm was the Laird’s brother and second in command. When Nancy and Malcolm’s eyes met for the first time, they both felt the strong chemistry between them. As they spent more time together, they grew closer. The book I feel focuses on the paranormal attacks and war. The action and adventure felt so real, it seems you are right there with them. Fighting side by side with them. When the time came for Nancy to fulfill her purpose, it brought her to a crossroad of whether to stay or go back to her own time. This is such an amazing book; a must read. I highly recommend it.
A bit of magical story-telling.
I love time-travel romances and Rebecca Preston does them so well. If you are looking for drama, action, excitement and wonderful romance then you should check this one out. I loved Nancy and Malcolm they were great characters and to finally know that there is a Lock Ness critter too was so much fun. This bit of magical story-telling will completely engage you. I do recommend this cutie. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
As a skilled professional scuba diver luckless in the romance department, Nancy expected no surprises in her life, but a dangerous situation proved her wrong. Fantasy, magic, lot of strange creatures, a monster who was not a foe, danger, scary scenes that gave me the chills, romance and passion. Liked this story where the heroine had a different and special role. Interesting, entertaining and instructive story that I liked.
I loved this book from start to finish. It’s engaging, full of action and great characters. Nancy and Malcolm had me rooting for them from the very beggining, and honestly every girl needs their own Darter.. As for Maggie, she’s fantastic! I love the whole atmosphere in this book, and the nice balance between modern and medieval.
Now that is what I call a sit on the edge of your seat while reading kind of story! If you like time travel stories filled with sexy Highlanders, kick a$$ heroines, magical Fae (good and evil), Nessie the Loch Ness Monster, suspense, adventure, with some lovin’ thrown in, then you’ll love this book.
When Nancy goes on a deep dive to explore a cave system, little does she know she’s going to end up in medieval Scotland! I loved her character, how she took most everything in stride and went into action when she realized what she was sent there to do! Malcolm is also a wonderful character who stands by her and helps to protect her. When these two finally get together, you can’t help but smile:)
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and now look forward to the next book in this series. I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
