Having picked up other books in the Twisted Fox world i’ve been looking so forward to jumping back in! So as soon as i found out about this audiobook i knew i had to start listening to it next! I got into it as soon as i could and got right back into this world! I enjoyed this listen and third installment!
This was my first time listening to Alexander Cendese and he was so great! Savannah Peachwood is one of my favorite narrators and it was awesome to listen to her once again! I truly enjoyed what both of these narrators brought to this story as Lincoln and Cassidy!
Lincoln and Cassidy’s journey was quick to get my attention right from their very first meeting! I really liked how i wasn’t sure what all to expect in their story and getting to dig deeper with them. I so enjoyed the chemistry between these two as well!
With Straight Up, Ms.Ferrell has created such a good story! I’m so looking forward to picking up the other installment in this series that i haven’t yet which is Shaken! I also can’t wait to listen to more of Alexander Cendese’s and Savannah Peachwood’s narration soon!
*I volunteered to listen and review a copy of this audiobook from the author*
My first thoughts when reading Lincoln and Cassidy’s story was that they heavily reminded me of Maliki and Sierra, in the best of ways. Their love story was unique and I loved the outside aspects helping them grow together. It definitely did not go in the direction I expected it to, but I loved it. Cassidy has Sierra’s spunky personality, telling her mind and teasing her crush. It was nice to get to see more about Lincoln after hearing about him from everyone else’s perspectives.
Straight up is book three in the Twisted Fox series. They can be read standalone but best read in order due to all the characters sticking around and intertwining story timelines. Lincoln was introduced in the last book as Archer’s brother who spent some time in jail for knowing about his father’s crimes, he is released and is working at the Twisted Fox and living with Archer. Cassidy came to town to work at the Twisted Fox after her ex-boyfriend got her kicked out of school and into some legal trouble. Cassidy has been one of favorite characters in this series, she is a sassy, strong, say exactly what she is thinking type of girl. Cassidy and Lincoln had a quick developing relationship going from strangers, to friends, to lovers. Lincoln tries to resist but they quickly find themselves in a relationship. Cassidy’s past with her ex is the biggest complication to her relationship which adds a little bit of danger and suspense. Like the rest of the books, the ending sets up the next book. Now I’ll be reading Chaser to read about Grace and Finn!
Straight Up is the 3rd book in the twisted fox series. These books don’t need to be read in order though I highly suggest it especially since this book contains spoilers for the previous stories.
Straight Up follows Cassidy and Lincoln who we have met before. They weren’t necessarily a couple I was anticipating (mainly because the ones I’m anticipating are coming next) but I had really enjoyed the previous two books in this series so I knew I wanted to read book 3 and even though I did enjoy this one, for me it was just ok.
Cassidy was fun, flirty, a little sassy and I really loved her sense of humour and playfulness. Lincoln was also very likable and even though he had been through a lot he wasn’t overly bitter or closed off, kind of the complete opposite of his brother Archer (Shaken Book 2). He had a sweet and kind personality. Their relationship quickly built from a budding friendship into much more and did feel a little instant with the attraction and feelings but I honestly didn’t mind that at all. We still got to see their friendship/flirtationship form which I really enjoyed and I liked the flow of the story.
There was also a slight danger/suspense element in the story which I did enjoy, as well as the cameos/crossovers from Ferell’s Blue Beech series (I really love when authors do this). This was an easy and quick read but it was a little predictable and lacking a little something, maybe because it was on the shorter side and needed just a few more chapters.
This series and author is fast becoming a favourite of mine and I’m very intrigued to see what happens in the last 2 books and will definitely be checking out more of her work in the future.
Charity Ferrell’s Twisted Fox series is my new favorite series. Ms. Ferrell was a new author to me in 2020 when the first book in the series launched, however from that book on, I have set up all the reminders and alerts for this series. I’m a fully invested bookworm in the Twisted Fox.
Being the third book in this series, it still manages to be a wonderful stand alone read. If this is your first visit to the Twisted Fox, Ms. Ferrell gives you the back stories and the hints at the stories to come. You won’t feel lost or left behind. Much like the group of friends that make up the Twisted Fox crew, you’ll feel brought into the circle and updated on all the news.
Straight Up is Lincoln’s story. He’s Archer Callahan’s younger brother (Archer is book 2 in the series). Lincoln’s back story is that he was an executive in his dad’s firm, knew his dad and a partner had started to stray into illegal activity with the firm, but stood by his father. When the feds come for his Dad, Lincoln falls too. In Straight Up, Lincoln has been released from jail having served his sentence. He’s tending bar at the Twisted Fox and attempting to build a new life. The prison stint harshly lit up Lincoln’s old world for him. He’s trying to get back to the happy guy he was prior to his fall, but he’s recalibrated what he values in a person as a friend and as a love interest.
Cassidy is the youngest in a tight knit yet broken family. She has had her own stint in prison. Taking the fall for a drug charge that wasn’t here’s to carry, she stays silent and loyal to the guy who forced her into the drug situation. It cost her big. Expelled from college, kicked out of her sorority house, and cut off financially from her parents, Cassidy moves out of her hometown to Anchor Point. Once hired as a new waitress at Twisted Fox, she sets eyes on Lincoln and it is game on.
One of the very best part of this book is the witty and quick verbal byplay between Cass and Lincoln. She’s in Insta love and he’s seeing her as younger and off limits. That doesn’t make the flirt or banter stop though. An east yet deep friendship develops between the two. Both start out hiding their criminal parts, but eventually fess up to each other.
Both Cass and Lincoln have been changed by their experiences. Both are now looking for the same things in people close to them – truth, trust, and loyalty.
They’ve got the loyalty and they are working on the trust but Cassidy is failing hard at the truth part. She’s being stalked and threatened by her drug ring ruler of an ex to keep her mouth shut regarding the particulars of how she wound up arrested that evening.
Lincoln is also withholding a bit of truth while also being stalked by HIS ex. The married ex. The ex whose affair with Lincoln led to his arrest and the collapse of the family business.
This story has laugh out loud moments, you’ll need tissues moments, and tense/suspenseful moments. It’s one of those “best of everything” books.
Lincoln and Cassidy are my favorites of the Twisted Fox crew because of their verbal byplay, their openness with each other and the tangled complexity of their plot line. This book manages to pull in both Lincoln’s past as well as Cassidy’s large family (featuring a cop, a hacker, and her boss’ best friend).
Lincoln and Cassidy aren’t alone in their story. We see the end of Archer and Georgia’s story play out in the middle of Lincoln and Cass. We get to meet Jamie and Cohen’s little one, and sparks are flying all around the remaining Twisted Fox group.
The end of Lincoln and Cass’ story ends on a bit of a cliff hanger for …. Grace.
I honestly believe Ms. Ferrell’s writing gets better the deeper she delves into the world in Anchor Point. The plots keep getting deeper. Grace’s story teases us with multiple layers of intrigue. Silas and Lola are two steps from setting things on fire with their sparks.
I can’t wait for the next story to roll through the Fox crew!
5 Stars
Charity Ferrell has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I am loving how she is interconnecting two of her series. Now, onto the good stuff. Lincoln is just downright swoon worthy. Loyal to a fault (hello prison time), devilishly handsome, and just a straight up good guy. After going to prison for a crime he didn’t commit, he definitely has a new outlook on life. Cassidy I straight up adored! This girl ain’t afraid to speak her mind at all. The banter between her and Lincoln just made the story. These two are fire together and I loved that even though they both have terrible pasts, it just makes them more perfect together. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Each one just gets better and better.

I’ve been excited for Straight Up ever since Cassidy entered the bar in the previous book, and she didn’t let me down. I ADORED this knows-what-she-wants, take-charge girl. Cass and Lincoln had a beautiful friendship that I really enjoyed, it wasn’t like something I just wanted to rush through.
Lincoln definitely wins as my favorite Callahan brother for lots of different reasons that you’ll have to read to find out and this book took a turn I didn’t expect and I think Charity handled it perfectly.
Each book in the series can be read as a standalone, but I do feel like Straight Up could benefit a little from at least reading book 2 since the beginning does overlap with some of the events in book 2. But Lincoln and Cassidy have a complete story on their own and it’s one of my favorites.
Friends to lovers, when done right, is my catnip. I love all the feels, the will they won’t they, the sexual chemistry, the *pull* that makes you root for the characters from the very first page, and this book had all of that!! I loved the underlining friendship between Cassidy and Lincoln, and the easy way they would blend their sensual side to their every day banter. I especially loved how confident and sassy Cassidy is — her going up to Lincoln in the very beginning when she introduced herself as his future wife was GOLD! She had so many layers to her, and she’s easily one of my favorite heroines I’ve read in a while. The romance between her and Lincoln was so sweet and real. I just can’t get enough of these group of friends!
I really liked how the prison storyline (for both of the characters) wasn’t the main focus, but how to move on agree that. Cassidy is determined to stay away from bad boys, and despite the fact that Lincoln was incarcerated, he’s not a bad man at all. They just together so well, and the drama and angst towards the last half of the book was just perfect in my opinion.
I did really love these two, but I still felt that there was just something missing between them. They definitely her that connection and the love between them was very palpable, but there was just something sort of.. off between them. I don’t know if it was just me, but I wanted to see them grow and evolve after the big bad was eliminated. Regardless, this was still a wonderful addition to the series and I can’t wait for more!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
Cass & Lincoln were such amazing characters that I wanted to dive in and loose myself in the story, but real life kept happening. Cassidy is a spitfire, she tells it like it is, whether the other person wants to hear it or not, and keeps it real. Until she doesn’t. I really couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t go to her brother when her ex wouldn’t leave her alone. I mean, he’s a cop, he could help in ways most other brothers couldn’t. But then I realized, by writing her character this way, it goes to show how a lot of women who are in abusive relationships or who have stalkers feel while going through these situations and we can easily sit and say well why didn’t you do this, that or the other but if your not in that particular situation you can’t know for sure what it is you would do.
Lincoln was more of what I had wished Archer would have been. With Lincoln being the “bad boy” with the felony and prison sentence, to see his soft side just made me feel all soft and gooey about him. I loved that he shows his loyalty throughout the book but I feel like in the end, to help Cass, he made the right decision, even if it was subconsciously, by talking to Archer. And the way he kept from diving right in to a full on physical relationship goes to show that even though he originally brushed off all of Cassidy’s outrageous flirting, he really was in it for the long haul.
I liked seeing some of my favorites from Charity’s other books pop in and out of the story but if you haven’t read the Blue Beech series, or even the beginning of this one, its ok. This can totally be read as a standalone. But you are missing out on a ton of awesomeness by not reading them…
Cassidy and Lincoln were a great match for one another in Straight Up by Charity Ferrell.
Lincoln’s circumstances were FAR from ideal, but he was such a great fit when it came to Cassidy… even when he didn’t necessarily want to be. He needs to stay away from trouble, but of course life is never that easy.
Really enjoyed this book, and always like visiting Blue Beech, but cannot wait for the next book in the series. Charity, please keep them coming!
OMG OMG OMG!! Charity Ferrell is back with Straight Up!!!! This is book 3 in her Twisted Fox series, and this book focuses on Lincoln and Cassidy!! I just knew when we were introduced to them in the last book, they were going to blow me away!!! Lincoln is MINE!!!
Both Lincoln and Cassidy have had there fare share with the law.. and with both doing the time.. they are now out and trying to get that fresh start.. I absolutely loved Cassidy!! She was loud, funny, and had ZERO filter…the girl I would love to be besties with since I am the quite one LOL.. but she was also fierce, stubborn and loyal to those who were her people.. Lincoln is sweet, honest, loyal, and has a heart of gold and a dirty mouth.. I loved the banter these two had, and I loved that they had that amazing friendship before it it went further..
Another thing I just love about this author is that she uses my home state in her books.. I just wish some of these towns were real.. because I would have to make a road trip!! Thank you Charity for allowing me to go in this journey with you!!
Cassidy sees and knows what (who) she wants, and that’s Lincoln. Lincoln’s just out of prison for a white collar crime he didn’t commit, so though he’s sure he wants her back, he’s also sure he’s not good for her or enough for her. But as their friendship evolves, Lincoln will have to decide if he can be the man she deserves.
Cassidy and Lincoln are perfect for each other. She’s so spunky and independent, with the sweetest nature. And Lincoln is easy going and a sweetheart himself. And that chemistry is SMOKIN! All in all, a great friends to lovers story.
I have been waiting for Straight Up since these two were introduced in Shaken!
These two are fun and flirty in the beginning. Cassidy has no filter whatsoever! I love it! She keeps telling Lincoln that she’s his future wife, he’s going to be the father of her kids, etc. Part of it is in jest but she’s not denying any attraction to Lincoln.
These two both have pasts that they’re not proud of but once they realize that what they have is more than just a fling-type attraction, they begin to lower their guards down.
Their past comes back right when things start to take off and they have to figure out how to put their past permanently behind them in order for their relationship to move forward.
I really enjoyed this one. It was easy to read and get lost in. It was part fun, part sexy, A LOT angsty, and part suspenseful.
And then that bombshell Charity Ferrell gave us for an upcoming story! I was not expecting that!
First off I have to say how much I loved Lincoln and Cassidy!! They are such an amazing couple and the banter between them is awesome!! The love these characters have is what makes this book so amazing. Plus you have that sweet man that is protective of the female. When he has to toe the line to keep her safe, that is what he will do. You have to admit that is HOT!! Plus you you get those steamy moments! And WOW!!!
I loved everything about this story. The way the characters come together and their HEA!!
This story will keep you guessing, and you won’t be able to put it down. I was to consumed by these characters, I didn’t want to stop reading it! This is one of those series you don’t want to ever end. You fall in love with the characters and want to keep reading their stories.
The best part too is all the cameos you get from the other books.
I love this series. I loved Lincoln and Cassidy. Lincoln is a good man. He took the fall for someone else and went to prison for it and is still a good man. Cassidy trusted the wrong people and has a past as well. These two together were great. Their chemistry was so good and I loved the banter between them. Looking forward to the next book.
Straight Up is the third book in the Twisted Fox series by Charity Ferrell, and focuses on Cassidy, who’s a waitress at Twisted Fox, and who’s hoping to escape a little trouble that she got herself in. She meets Lincoln, who is a bartender at Twisted Fox and the younger brother of one of the co-owners. Both Cassidy and Lincoln have been in trouble with the law, and that is one obstacle in their life they’re trying to overcome, and don’t want others to know about.
Cassidy knows what she wants and was voted “Most Outspoken” in her senior class, so she’s not afraid of telling people how she feels. When she meets Lincoln, she does exactly that, introducing herself to him as his “future wife.” Lincoln takes all of Cassidy’s flirting in stride, and he keeps her at arm’s length because he’s slightly older (by 5 years or so), and he’s trying to work through some internal conflict about his guilt and resentment at going to jail because he covered for his father’s embezzlement. I like Lincoln as a character; he shows that he’s loyal and caring, and there is some growth to his character as he realizes in the end that he can’t keep quiet because of loyalty. When it comes to someone he loves, Lincoln needs to learn to speak up and take actions to help that person. Though I would’ve liked to learn more about the nitty gritty of Lincoln’s actions, his time in prison and how that changed him, there was enough for a reader to go one to understand what happened. However, I don’t think that Cassidy showed the same growth Lincoln did, and I almost don’t like her much as a character. She seemed a bit too forward and presumptuous for me with her flirting, and for someone who’s voted most outspoken and takes initiative, it seems contradictory how she dealt with her ex. I really thought she would’ve been a little more outspoken about the situation, seeing as how she had really supportive people around her who probably had reach to keep her safe. Their romance was kind of off for me, as I thought that Lincoln was a lot more mature and probably in a different space in his life than Cassidy.
3.5/5
Straight Up is book three in the Twisted Fox series. It can be read as a standalone. This book is Cassidy and Lincoln’s story. Cassidy is a fun girl character. She goes after what she wants Lincoln is a hard working loyal guy. Lincoln is trying to get a fresh start. Both have a past and a relationship is not what either is looking for. They start as friends then turn out to be more. I was rooting for these two.
Great friends to lovers read.
I have really enjoyed this series and this one was no exception.
It was a fun read that left a smile on my face.
Lincoln and Cassidy had an instant attraction (as we saw in Shaken) and they have amazing chemistry together.
I loved watching their relationship evolve.
Great read.
I was given an ARC but voluntarily chose to review
Straight up is a fun and flirty friends to lovers story with a side of drama that I couldn’t put down. Lincoln and Cassidy made me smile from the start because their banter just pulled me in. Two people that got the raw end of the deal for things they didn’t do, but they fought for a good life. You need to read this for her brothers, the hoodie and the birthday present alone. This story will you all in the feels as this couple falls in love.
Tracey, Life Reads With Friends
Finally getting Lincoln’s story and it was everything we needed! After getting to know a little bit about not only Lincoln but also his family in his brother’s book, I was excited to get to hear his side of things. Cassidy has always been a big flirt and even naïve in some ways, but when her boyfriend gets her mixed up in a bad situation and causes her whole world to turn upside down, she realizes the world isn’t what it seems and takes a hard look at things. When these two meet, it’s instant chemistry especially with Cassidy’s personality, and over time she wears Lincoln down to get to know each other and take a chance. Not only do they develop a relationship, but they also develop a great friendship between them that really shows both of their personality and character. It was crazy how everyone else made assumptions but these two know the real reason behind things, and when Lincoln goes alpha male towards Cassidy when he finds out what happened to her, she has strong feelings due to her independence, although she finally realizes where he was coming from. I loved these two characters as well as their love story, and I can’t get enough of this series. I love Charity’s style of writing and her books are great reads. I can’t wait for the next Twisted Fox installment!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
