Lincoln and Cassidy took me on a journey of redemption and moving forward. They were both trying to move on from their pasts and not let them define them. The friendship they develop was so genuine and pure that I couldn’t stop smiling. Not everything is easy though and there is some danger and suspense that gets thrown in that only proves they are meant to be.
I have been waiting for Lincoln’s story! The insta attraction worked perfectly! Straight Up was the third book in Charity’s Twisted Fox series. They can be read as stand-alones, but you should check them all out!! It was sweet, sexy, and completely sassy!
Lincoln’s life changed in the blink of an eye. He had been in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Now that he was out, he knew he needed to stay on the correct path. Would she be worth the possibility of getting into trouble?
Cassidy knew all about trouble. Her attraction to bad boys finally caught up to her. Moving was supposed to help get her life back in order until she met Lincoln. Would he end up being just another bad boy in her life?
The witty banter with these two was on point. Even though they could have been toxic for each other, they ended up being the best thing. I liked that it was woven into the other previous stories. I loved seeing glimpses of a few other favorites!
Straight Up (Twisted Fox Book 3) by Charity Ferrell
4 out of 5 stars
Lincoln Callahan is a hardened man because of his past. People set him up to “take the fall” for a crime that was not his. He has paid for those crimes and got his freedom back. Coming out was tough for him, and with nothing on his name by then. Now, he wants a simple life, a new start, and nothing to do with a certain blonde waitress at the Twisted Fox.
Cassidy Lane is a fun-loving lady who was at the wrong place, at the wrong time, PLUS implicated a crime that she DID NOT do. I am not sure how I feel with her being unfortunate that no one seems to believe her innocence OR that people would think she would do such a despicable act.
I enjoyed many aspects of the book, even when I initially wasn’t interested in the story. Even if I want not to like the book, I couldn’t. There were so many things that will get readers hooked.
1) Writing style that hooks.
The POV is in the third person – ominous, and the writing style is easy and relatable. I love the witty banter and flirtatious conversations between Cassidy and Lincoln. They are hilarious together! There is also a strong connection between them that they become more open to sharing their secrets without fear or judgment.
The plot’s build-up is at the right momentum that will keep readers pushing on. Things did not feel “rush” or forced, even if a lot of things were happening around the main characters.
2) Memorable and well-developed characters were a big plus!
The character development is well done. The flashback helped readers understand Cassidy and Lincoln better without overwhelming or negating the main plot. The character traits were realistic, and emotions were genuine. The characters’ complexity grew and matured as the story progressed. Each of them learns to “take charge” and stop being taken for granted by others. All of this helps readers connect to them, given each main character’s ample time to share their thoughts.
Cassidy is a class of her own! She is the number one reason that I kept on reading. I am thankful I did because she is an excellent role model for everyone who has been forsaken by life and everyone. Even when she lost everything – personal and professional, she did not shut herself out or cause her to “crumble.” Instead, Cassidy took another approach on her career path and started rebuilding her confidence at Anchor Ridge, away from her family and friends. A fresh start is a way to go.
3) Unexpected plot twists add to the suspense.
A surprise (or two) comes around, but this time, there is danger in the mix – cover-ups and conspiracies.
Coincidentally, Cassidy’s ominous past intertwines with Lincoln’s and comes to settle “loose-ends.” Being having a hero complex, Lincoln tries his best to protect Cassidy – the point of risking his freedom again.
Both main characters have to look out and stand firm together as they find their redemption, and a second chance, amidst the danger surrounding them.
4) Family is everything.
I love how the book is all about family and friends who love the main characters. The love (and concern) oozes out of the pages beautifully. I felt each confession by all of the members there, and it all ran real, heartfelt, and genuine. Many supporting characters looked out for Lincoln and Cassidy that even with their unfortunate pasts, all of the other characters rallied as needed, no questions asked.
Note: It is important to note that readers do not need to start from the beginning of the series to read this book. Cassidy and Lincoln’s story runs jointly with the other books in the series but from different perspectives. Who knew that all the characters have so much backstory between them to fuel a whole series!
In summary, I recommend Straight Up to readers who are in the trope of second chances, age-gap (not too much, if you ask me), romantic comedy, brooding alpha males, and sassy yet strong heroines.
It is rare for me to connect to a book character, so I was surprised at how much I adore, like, love Cassidy! She could be any reader’s no holds barred, sassy, strong-minded best friend.
I really enjoy this series as much as her Blue Beech series. So when I found out this book was going to be about Linclon who is Archers brother and who was just released from prison for a crime he didn‘t commit I was very excited to read it. Sadly I was a bit disappointed in the story.
The blurb promises an amazing story between a recent ex-felon and a girl who doesn‘t need a bad boy. The story started out really good. I enjoyed both characters alot and didn‘t mind Cassidy‘s bluntness and eagerness to get Lincoln to be hers.
Sadly in the second half of the book when the drama with the pasts started I got a bit annoyed with Cassidy. She was portrayed to be a blunt, strong women but on the other hand she was very shy and fearful of her past which I could understand to a point. Lincoln‘s prison time was more or less brushed under the rug which I would‘ve liked to be explored a bit better.
Otherwise the book was good. I‘m still excited to read the next one and the next one. Charity‘s writing is easy to read and I enjoy it alot.

I love the up front straight to the point Cassidy. She gives Lincoln’s jaded attitude a run for his money. This book will put a smile on your face.
I have really enjoyed all of the books in the Twisted Fox series, but Cassidy and Lincoln’s story, I think, is my favorite. These two had the most charming personalities and blended perfectly together. Both, though, had things they were hiding from others out of embarrassment or shame or just fear of being betrayed. There lies the crux of the book. How do you re-establish trust when that trust has gotten you in trouble in the past?
Lincoln and Cassidy’s courtship dance of quips, smiles, flirting, and mutual deep like for each other was the best part of this book. You could not help but smile as Cassidy made some of her comments, and Lincoln would fire right back at her. The nice things they did for each other and the genuineness of affection flew off the page. So often, we get insta-lust, but this was genuinely insta-like, and it was lovely to behold.
This whole series has been a joy to read. I am so looking forward to Grace and Liam’s adventures as well as Lola and Silas. Thanks, Charity, for creating the Twisted Fox crew!
Straight Up by Charity Ferrell was fun, steamy and a bit angsty. Lincoln and Cassidy have an instant connection when they meet. I loved their flirty banter and easy way they had with each other. But you knew it could not be that easy. They both have history they are trying to move forward from, but what if that history does not want to let you go? Lincoln was hesitant at first, but she pulls at him. Cassidy was strong and determined. I loved them together, but they had to find their way and I devoured their story. I am loving this series and cannot wait for more!

Happy reading!
Lincoln and Cassidy’s story is about getting a fresh start and hopefully putting the bad behind you. From the moment they meet working at Twisted Fox there is a chemistry that flows between them and an undeniable attraction. Their story takes you on a journey of drama, danger, secrets, friendships and love, all while having you absolutely captivated by this couple. The witty banter between these two will straight up have you falling in love with their characters and their story. This is a friends to lovers romance that is sweet, sexy and with Cassidy it ensures it has plenty of sass.
Lincoln had everything and was used to living in luxury. He went to prison and now he’s a felon for a crime he didn’t commit. I really liked Lincoln and im not gonna lie I loved how Cassidy threw him off his game some. She knew she wanted him instantly and not gonna lie I found that hot. Cassidy hides the fact that her ex is lurking and when it comes out there are fireworks. There is drama, some angst and a whole lotta love and friendship. Definitely will read more of this series.
This is the 3rd book in this awesome series and is Lincoln and Cassidy’s story. Both characters have had a brush with the law and are starting afresh in a new town. Lincoln is working as a barman at the Twisted Fox, while Cassidy is a waitress, and there is an instant and undeniable attraction between them. There is a great bunch of secondary characters in this story. This is a well written story which is filled with friendships, drama, danger, witty banter, engaging and relatable characters, secrets, and love. I was enthralled throughout this riveting and addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.
Charity Ferrell once again reeled me in with her playful characters and their flirty banter.
Straight up, this series just gets better and better! (See what I did there? )
Cass (all flirt, fun and sass) and Lincoln (loyal to a fault) were all fun and games – fast friends, albeit with crazy chemistry – until they caught feelings.
Having both been wronged in the past they both have reservations and trust issues.
Are they willing to lay their hearts on the line for a chance at love? And what happens when one of them shatters that fragile trust?
Alexander and Savannah did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.
I have been waiting for Lincoln and Cassidy’s story since getting little glimpses of them during Shaken and there was some overlap with Shaken, too.
Cassidy and Lincoln have an instant attraction to each other and Cassidy is not afraid to admit it to Lincoln and well to anyone else that may be around. I loved the banter between the two of them and the easy going vibe that was between them. They formed an unlikely friendship and I loved those moments between the two of them. I loved how loyal Lincoln is, even if it did put him in prison. Cassidy is also loyal, but she is also very trusting and that ends up getting her into some trouble.
It’s not all smooth sailing for these two and there is plenty of angst and some drama that does come up in the story, however, it does have a HEA.
If you’re looking for a friends to lovers, angsty, workplace romance this is one to check out.
I very much enjoyed Cassidy and Lincoln’s story. Third book in the Twisted Fox series and this is a friends to lovers story that is a whole lot of fun. I like how both Lincoln and Cassidy have similar experiences and are trying to find themselves again after some bad choices. That makes it easy for them to bond not to mention they have some great chemistry.
I love Cassidy’s personality, she is bold and outspoken and doesn’t have an issue going after what she wants.
I’m really excited for the next to books in this series, there has been some wicked build up to Finn and Grace and Silas and Lola.
I give this a solid 4 and half stars. I liked it but it didn’t surpass Stirred or Shaken for me.
Straight Up by Charity Ferrell is Book 3 of the Twisted Fox Series and is a delicious friends to lovers romance read.
Cassidy has to be one of my favorite female characters to date. She is sassy, spunky and outspoken. She is also hardworking, pigheaded, stubborn and loyal. All great qualities especially when it comes to the (good) crazy that is the Twisted Fox world. From the first time we see her to the very end, she is a breath of fresh air and makes reading this book a pleasure.
Lincoln is both a complicated and straightforward character (if that even makes sense!). Imprisoned for a white colar crime (he did not commit) and recently released, he his working hard to find himself and start fresh. His quiet strength and sense of loyalty are admirable and his smoking hot body, drool worthy and that’s all before we add sexy Cassidy to the mix.
I absolutely loved the witty banter and general quirkiness between Lincoln and Cassidy. Their attraction was palpable and the chemistry, smoking – making this a thoroughly enjoyable romance read. If you’re looking for a sweet and sexy, friends to lovers romance with a fantastic group of friends to stir the pot, then Straight Up is the perfect choice for you. TBR and Enjoy!
We are entered back into the world of all the characters we love. We get Cassidy’s story this time around. She is spunky, sassy, and full of sarcasm. We then get the charismatic Lincoln. He’s alpha, vulernable, and loyal to his family. You also get a small insight from all of your other favorite characters.
I liked this book however, I found myself wanting a little more. I wanted some more development and chemistry. I felt there was a connection missing that I was craving. I felt like there was more “telling” than showing than normal. I love Charity’s writing and her past stories – especially her Blue Beech series. Unfortunately, this one fell short for me. I hate having to say that because of my devotion to the Blue Beech series. Maybe it was just these characters since there seemed to be a “insta-love” type of feel which I’m not a fan of…I just can’t pin my feelings exactly.

This is book 3 in the series and it doesn’t disappoint! Charity is writing amazing stories in this series, don’t miss this one! 5 stars!
We’ve met Lincoln and Cassidy, now we get their story! Lincoln served time for protecting his father, Cassidy got community story for something she didn’t do.
Cassidy is as upfront with her wishes as anyone, she’s hysterical, but is also hiding something. She wants Lincoln, and she doesn’t hide that. Lincoln doesn’t think he’s good enough for her because of his past. Watch as these two become the best of friends, and open up to each other. You will love these two, while getting an update on other characters from the Twisted Fox!
Can’t wait for the next book in this series!
TROUBLE looks a lot like love. Straight Up is a romance worth indulging in. Lincoln is a bad boy with a wounded soul that haunts his warrior heart. Cassidy is a spitfire that is no one’s pushover. Two great characters. One complicated story. Ferrell lets it all hang out when it comes to matters of the heart. The good, the bad and the ugly come together to create an irresistible, unforgettable, MUST READ story.
Straight Up by Charity Ferrell is the third book in the Twisted Fox series. This is Lincoln and Cassidy’s story. Ms Ferrell writes beautifully and is able to make her characters real and relatable. It’s not all sunshine and roses, but she brings these two troubled souls together despite their pasts. I can’t wait for Grace’s book!!
Another great installment in this series! Starting a bit before where Archer and Georgia’s book ended, we learn about Cassidy’s situation and watch her and Lincoln meet. Both have pasts that are not the greatest, so while Cassidy is all for joking around with Lincoln about their unborn children, it’s just that… a joke. Lincoln is definitely gun shy and is not really wanting to explore any type of relationship, and the friendship that he has developed with Cassidy is one he cannot afford to lose. So he puts the brakes on them going any further, but can the two resist the pull forever?
While this isn’t my favorite couple (that spot is for Archer and Georgia), this is another really good story. Everything you want in a great read; drama, a bit of danger, great cast of characters, and some really hot naughty bits. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Finn and Grace! I give this 4 stars.
Straight Up proves why I fell in love with Charity Ferrell. It is so well written with all of the sprinklings to a perfect recipe that makes an absolutely delicious story!
Pulled in from the very first page, I was smitten with both Lincoln and Cassidy through the entire story. They were delightful in their back and forth banter, their honesty with one another and their redemptive background stories.
Both Lincoln and Cassidy have tender underbellies given their sullied histories, but the fact that they both have a black mark on their background actually makes them more understanding than most people in their given situations.
Lincoln has been to prison, white collar prison, but prison nonetheless, technically for crimes he didn’t commit, but he did help his father in not reporting the crimes he was committing. So while Lincoln wasn’t actually the one committing the crime, he was loyal to the very end when he was arrested for actually aiding and abetting. One thing you will find out about Lincoln is he is loyal, basically to a fault. That is rare and I loved that about him.
Cassidy trusted the wrong person because she too has a very open heart, sparkling personality, and loyal to everyone. That landed her in jail which changed the trajectory of her future, but it did land her at Twisted Fox and in front of the man who stole her heart, Lincoln.
I love both Lincoln and Cassidy equally and was giggling throughout the entire book. They both use sarcasm and laughter as a defense mechanism to evade hard questions which means they come across as easy-go-lucky. Their personalities aren’t the only thing they have in common as they lower their guards and really get to know one another. Their backgrounds, their original aspirations to be more, and so and so forth. The more layers they peel back and discover the more there is to like.
Like all Ferrell books, there comes a point where angst comes rolling in and the trouble that has been brewing might be something that neither of them can afford, especially with their pasts. I love that Charity brings real world problems into her books while still making me feel safe and cozy in her fiction world. So far, Straight Up is my favorite book in this series so many reasons.
