“Full of Irish charm, sweeping scenery, and swoon-worthy romance.” – Jay Crownover, NYT bestselling author I need a wife if I want to help save my family’s billion-dollar pub empire. There’s just one problem: I never plan on marrying. So, I need someone who understands that this is just another business deal. I don’t do commitments. And my brother’s executive assistant, Fallon Smith, fits that … assistant, Fallon Smith, fits that bill.
Fallon needs help with her grandmother’s expenses, and her pretending to be my fake wife is a way we can make that happen. She’s not my biggest fan, but we can help each other and then go our separate ways. That she’s beautiful and I enjoy spending time with her-doesn’t matter. When all of this is done, she’s heading home to America, and I’ve got a company to run.
A fake wedding and a whole lot of whiskey. What could go wrong?

This book was a little different from what I usually read but I enjoyed it very much
I loved all the characters in this book!!! The story was whimsical and romantic with lots of steam!!! Highly recommended!!
Good story.
The ending was a little rushed….But over all really great!
WOW WOW WOW WOW! This is my first Magan Vernon book and I’m hooked. This book had charm, steam, a great story, a pretend marriage and a HEA! I picked this book on Netgalley to review because I’m a sucker for books set in Ireland. They had a connection from the beginning even though it was Fallon being irritated with Connor. I love how he finally “ran into” her. I loved that he was trying to romance her and how he embraced Nana and Leah. This may have started out as a pretend marriage to help Connor fulfill his father’s will and help out Fallon but it turns into love. I cannot wait to read more from Magan and more of the Murphy brothers! I’m sure someone is going to knock the starch out of Jack.
Straight Up Irish by Magan Vernon one of the best books I will read this year. This is the first book in the Murphy Brothers series and I can’t wait for the other brothers to get their turn. I will admit I am not always a fan of the author, but this book is by far the best I’ve read from her. I couldn’t put it down; Connor Murphy is exactly what you want in a bad boy book boyfriend. He’s hot, he’s brash and he’s dirty (in the best way possible). He would definitely charm the underpants off any nun in Ireland, (possibly the rest of the world also). The way he is written will make you laugh and smile, he will warm your heart and have you gobsmacked with what he comes out with, he leads a simple life, until a will reading changes everything, weather it will be for the right reasons or not you will have to read to find out.
Fallon Smith is a great character, she really does deserve a medal for all her hard work, always putting others first, will she finally put herself first or will she marry for everyone else? But she isn’t the only character that you will fall in love with, none of them fall short, they are all people you could imagine having pints of the dark stuff with and dancing round in the pub with a singer taking a turn. I am so excited to read this series, and meet the other brothers in more depth. They are each going to bring another level to the story and the series
What a great look at the Irish people and romance. Very honest emotions and reaching for your dreams.
I picked this up to read after getting an ARC of the next book in the series. While it was a decent read, it didn’t wow me much.
I started it in a busy waiting room and couldn’t focus on it. A few days later, I restarted the book, and read it until completion. I had a hard time connecting with the characters, for the most part. Connor felt like a smarmy get, and totally not serious about Fallon. Fallon was so wishy-washy about everything that I found it hard to respect her, let alone believe that she actually fell for Connor. The world building was wonderful, and that’s what saved this from a lower rating!
I’ll give things a second chance with the next book in the series, but I’m not hoping for much there!
Having been to Ireland a couple of times it was fun to put myself there with this book. Loved it.
Loved this book. The Happy ever after is what I need in this crazy world we now live in I need the escape. Life goes by in a blink of an eye. A
do over is not possible but we can use our imagination.
Easy reading w/I any thought process.
LOVED IT!!
Enjoyed the story and the characters.
Loved this book was a great story. Loved the Irish wording and landscape. Great characters and charming love story .
Loved it…but cannot find a link to the rest of the trilogy….still looking
I found this story delightful. The characters were fun and the story was very entertaining.
Great accidental love story. I love the setting.
Loved it!
I’m swooning still over this book! Best love story ever! I wanna curl back up in bed with this gem and never leave Connor. I’m also thinking of changing all the Fallon’s into Julia’s. That is allowed, right? Straight Up Irish has completely swept me off my feet! Magan Vernon creates a magnificent love story that will keep me thinking and talking about it for weeks to come!
Connor has to marry someone and stay married for six months to get his inheritance, which is his family company. He’s a rich, Irish playboy and gives no fecks who knows. Fallon is a sweet and sassy American girl living in Dublin working for Connor’s brother. She has a heart of gold and takes Connor up on his offer of a marriage of convenience so she can continue to help her Nana.
The relationship is a slow one, yet it’s a beautiful one. Connor realizes how sheltered Fallon has been and makes it his purpose to take her in adventures and show her how to really live. The relationship that grows between Fallon and Connor is just plain beautiful. I couldn’t have asked for a better story. Humor, romance, sexy guys. I just can’t put into words how much I loved Straight Up Irish. It will be one I reread and recommend constantly! Can’t wait for Jack and Sean!!
3.5 stars of sweet Irish bliss or man candy…
Straight Up Irish has the slang and accents to turn me to putty. Seriously, this bird was ready as soon as Connor opened his mouth. Even if he calls me Not Erin, yeah I would.
The Irish play boy and the American assistant sounds like a bad death match but makes for an entertaining arrangement. It’s sweet with some very naughty fun and plenty of Whiskey to wet your whistle.
