“Hysterically funny. . . . Hiaasen at his satirical best.” —USA TodayWhen a ferocious hurricane rips through southern Florida, con artists and carpetbaggers waste no time in swarming over the disaster area. Among them are insurance fraudsters, amateur occultists, and ex-cons on the loose. And caught in the middle are Max and Bonnie Lamb, honeymooners who abandon their Disney World plans to … Disney World plans to witness the terrible devastation. But when Max vanishes, Bonnie, aided by a mysterious young man with a tranquilizer gun and a roomful of human skulls, has to follow her only clue: a runaway monkey. The path of this motley crew will be forever changed by a crazed and determined man who has devoted his very strange existence to saving Florida from the kinds of people blown in by the hurricane. The hilarious and scathing muckraking tradition that Carl Hiaasen has so mercilessly made his own continues in Stormy Weather, where there is no calm eye.

My favorite Hiaasen book. Some parts of it made me laugh hysterically the first time I read it and they do the same today.
This wild cast of characters all come together after an unnamed hurricane hits South Florida hard.
Max and Bonnie Lamb are on the honeymoon in Orlando when the hurricane hits. Max drives them down to the destruction zone and begins filming with his handy cam. Bonnie walks away from him in disgust, right into the arms of Augustine Herrera. He’s …
I love Carl Hiaasen. I watched the movie Strip Tease… and hated it. But I remember Siskel and Ebert saying how could they ruin such a great book. So, years later, when I’d all but forgotten the movie, I ran across a copy of Strip Tease at Goodwill. And that was that. The book was amazing, the characters one of a kind. And his backlist–a dream …
Another winner by Hiaasen.
I love reading about the fictional former governor of Florida whenever he pops up in Hiaasen’s stories.
I love all in the “Skink” series.
Great funny book
Ok at best
This was the first book by Hiaasen I read and now I search for his books! Great reoccurring characters and unbelievable situations. Hysterical!!
Another of Hiaasen’s greats. I’ve read all his books.
Typical Hiassen, but not one of his bests
A master of crime fiction, perfectly describes Florida’s epicenter of weirdness.
I love Hiasson – he Is funny but cutting. In reading these now, he was also ahead of his time. This is bigger than Florida.
Typical of authors characters. Not as funny as some of his books. Very convoluted but fun if you’re looking for a break from emotional books
Always a good read. Love his characters.
Carl Hiaasen books are wonderful and incredibly funny.
