A refreshingly engaging and satisfying read
—>>> A modern-day version of a Scottish knight in his soul, Laird Callum McRae meets the woman of his dreams but does not realize that Mathilda is the daughter of the man he was seeking for answers on a sizable reneged debt.
The whole story is a wonderful mix of complex relationship conflicts, two huge golden-hearted souls yearning to be together while fighting their own home fires, and an amazing cast of authentic characters to round it all out.
Callum and Mathilda were a perfect fit through and through!
What can I say about Storm the Castle? One word, Fantastic. Jolie Vines is an amazingly talented author who gets you right in the feels from the very start. She makes you love her characters, even the secondary ones and has left me intrigued about their stories too. I am Scottish so I know she has done her research. So much so that she even has Scottish colloquialisms down to a tee. And can that lady write a good love scene?
This is a story of finding your fit and your family, whether they are blood or not and the lengths people will go to to keep that unit together. The two main characters find each other at the height of their own family troubles and I loved them both instantly. When you connect to characters like these two you will them to have a HEA as if they were your best friends.
Thank you Jolie for bringing your Hot Scots into my life. You’ve become a firm favourite for me. X
Mathilda finds herself a mountain man! Er, but he’s a laird?
What a great romance, really well-written and with a super plot! So many obstacles that, by all rights, mean that Mathilda Storm, daughter of a powerful British businessman, should never get within spitting distance of cash-strapped Callum McRae. But Mathilda’s sister Scarlett knows Mathilda has a “thing” for ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ and Callum is the Scottish reincarnation of that film’s oldest bachelor brother Adam. Is Mathilda his perfect Ellie?
So many family issues on both sides to negotiate and resolve, a jerk potential fiance for Mathilda, pushy real estate agents eager to get Callum’s estate: this plot has oodles of excitement, steam and touching tender moments. Most of the female characters are strong and ready to stand up for themselves, including fourteen year old Scarlett.
I must admit I read the rest of the Marry the Scot series before I got back to this one and I wish I had read this book first. It provides some key information about secondary characters who feature as leads in the later books.
Jolie Vines has joined the ranks of my fave British romance authors. She does a superb job of mixing romance, steam and thrilling adventure. The Scottish connection is a definite added plus for me, fan of all things Scottish, but the second book in the series is the one that hooked me and it’s set mostly in England.
Wonderfully fantastic… The book was amazing… It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it… The characters and their personalities match them perfectly… The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing…

You don’t want to miss this book!!! 5 Stars+++
I’m so incredibly proud and excited for Jolie Vines as her first book goes out into the world. As a romance lover, I’ve read tons of books with a Highland hero, but interestingly, almost all of them were historical or involved time travel. This is my first contemporary Highlander and Callum gave me everything I wanted.
As the story begins, Mathilda is contemplating marriage to her father’s business partner. Not because she loves him—she barely knows the man. But she desperately wants to build a home where she can invite her sister to come live, and her father would only allow it if she were married and could provide a stable environment. Her younger sister has a terrible home-life with her parents and Mathilda feels she is the only one who can save her. The would-be fiancé needs her as much as she needs him, to help him with some personal PR.
Anyway, she’s not looking for a relationship when she meets Callum, but sometimes, the best things in life are a surprise. The hulking Scot is a laird of his own castle, raising his two teenage brothers, and he is instantly struck by the mutual attraction to Mathilda. He becomes quickly intent on wooing her, all as he struggles to save his estate…one in dire straits, largely because Mathilda’s own father has reneged on a business deal with him. Obviously, things are complicated.
As I said, Callum is a marvelous hero. He is sexy and strong, but more importantly, so loyal and steady. Though he isn’t perfect, he tries to be. He puts the people he loves first, and even though he’s under 30, he is a father figure to all the young men around him. Of course, Mathilda can’t help but fall for him.
The heroine has the same kind of loyalty…albeit to her sister. But I appreciate the fact that she is honest from the beginning with Callum and I never had to wait for a big secret to blow up in her face.
Great secondary characters have me excited to keep reading: especially James and Beth in the next book. (Is she a little older than he is? I’m curious. –And I want to know about those scars.) I’m also wondering if Ally and Scarlet might have their own book when they get a bit older. Lots of breadcrumbs to follow, but don’t worry, this book will give you a complete and satisfying HEA.
I have always loved historical romance novels set in Scotland! Jolie Vines’s finely crafted series has me falling in love with present day Scotland and her heroes all over again!
Callum and Mathilda meet one night at a party in England and sparks begin to fly. Callum is an amazing young laird, responsible for his younger brothers as well as his tenants. He will go to great lengths to secure his family’s future as well as the future of the young woman he’s falling in love with.
Mathilda has big dreams of opening her own wedding planning business while securing a loving environment in which to raise her younger sister.
Will Callum be able to convince Mathilda they belong together; or, will the business that ties them together tear their relationship apart? Will Mathilda be able to help her family heal from the many hurts of the past; or, are the scars too deep?
Jolie Vines’ Marry the Scot series will be a reader favorite for sure. Storm the Castle features a swoony hero who sweeps the heroine off her feet, even though she’s scared to let go and really immerse herself at first. I love how different their families are – one a supportive, loving circle, the other a dysfunctional mess. It broke my heart to see how Mathilda struggled with overcoming the issues that her parents were responsible for.
Callum was a breath of fresh air when it comes to romance heroes – no uncertainty on his part! He knew what he wanted and set out to achieve it. I think readers will fall head over heels for him. I can’t wait to read his brothers’ books!
Callum and Mathilda sees each other across the room. Only she can’t stop thinking about the offer she just got from her Dad’s business partner.
When Callum comes to Mathilda aide more then once they begin to feel their attraction growing into so much more. They both have troubles they are working through. Will they be able to push through everything and grab their own love and let it grow?
Exciting with plenty of humor and mischief along the way.

This is a brilliant, heartwarming, intriguing, romantic and amusing. Callum is a determined, protective, caring, charming and strong family oriented man who has been responsible for his younger brothers since he was 18. Mathilda is a lot like Callum, with the exception of actually having her sister, something she has been trying to change. When they meet, Mathilda had just been proposed to by one of her father’s partners, Dominic, a proposal designed to clean up his name and give her a home where her father might let her sister live. But there’s an instant and intense attraction between them, so intense that Callum decides then and there that she’s The One and tries to get her to at least meet with him before he leaves the country. Mathilda is confused by her feelings, thinking that she needs to marry Dominic, but being drawn to Callum. His pursuit is complicated by the fact that Callum had a lucrative contract with her father that Dominic ruined. Their story is sweet and romantic, Callum’s brothers add entertainment to the story and James adds intrigue. I can’t wait to find out James’ story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
I loved this story so much!I love a good Scottish book but one where there is family involved and it isn’t a historical read is amazing! Jolie really brought it to the table with Mathilda and Callum. They just jump right off the pages and into your life and you feel like you are right there living with them and feeling what they feel.
Callum is in trouble because of a deal he made with a man falls through and he is about to lose his castle and then he and his brothers will have no place to live. So Callum goes to the man and tells him he needs to fix the situation and the man offers Callum his daughters hand in marriage. Callum agrees and when he meets Mathilda he is taken aback as to how beautiful she is and he knows that he has made the right decision.
Mathilda is willing to do whatever it takes to help her family out especially her sister. So when her father asks her to marry Callum she agrees because she knows she can take her sister with her and raise her as her own without her fathers over baring ways. This is a win win situation but when Mathilda meets Callum her heart starts to skip a beat and she falls for Callun.
Mathilda is needs to marry to get her young sister out of their parents’ loveless home. she has an offer from her dad’s partner for a mutual arrangement but when she meets Callum McRae all shots are called off.
He’s her dream come true: a true laird… A Scottish lord who’s single, lives in a castle with stone towers and crenelated walls, a picture of respectability family-man and the chemistry between them is off the charts! Only problem is that he’s here to deal with her father who crossed him in business
If you like powerful heroes, confident heroines, well-developed characters, and scorching-hot action with a crackling plot and satisfying endings that leave you smiling, then you’ll love this tantalizing tale.
I greatly enjoyed this read mostly because, like the heroine, I’m strong & independent yet am all for being swept off my feet especially by a strong highlander.

It’s such a great book!!! The whole book was reminiscent of books I read when I was younger and I had forgotten how much I loved them!! A breath of fresh air from a debut author, I’m going to definitely be reading everything else she writes!! Callum is a big beautiful man and I’m definitely giving these Scots their own wing in my harem!!
I absolutely love this book! I just love all the characters! They are so interesting and relatable. The characters are strong willed and so caring. The setting is wonderful. The book is well written and detailed. Such a great romance. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
Wow! This story kept me turning pages, wanting to read it when I could not. Callum was a wonderful man, so protective, honest, committed to family, and willing to learn a new way. Mathilda stole my heart with her resolve to help others, to sacrifice her future for family, and her independence. Together, they had me laughing, crying, and hoping. Their family made them better when together, and I loved the hard working group of them. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I received an ARC through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Mathilda is offered a deal to marry her father’s business partner and she will be able to help her family out. The only thing, the marriage is a sham, she would have to give five years of her life with a man that wouldn’t have anything to do with her. She can do that, its a small price if she is helping her sister out. That is until she has a run in with a huge highlander. When that run in becomes a second and third run in, Mattie knows this is fate stepping in, and decides to take Callum up on his offer of breakfast. Sparks fly for the two, but their families create havoc then pull the two apart, not to mention Mattie still has that proposal to think about. Will Mattie choose love, or will she choose the route that helps her family?
I feel like I read something different from everyone else. I was super excited about this modern day highlander romance, and it really just fell a bit flat. The story does pick up towards the end. With drama, some interesting side characters, and some ok naughty bits, I give this 3.5 stars.
Laird Callum McRae was going after the men that are messing with his family and their business, never did he know he would meet a woman who change his world. Mathilda Storm knows the only choice she has is to enter into a loveless marriage to save her sister, so why does meeting Callum make her want more? This story was so enticing and I couldn’t put my book down. I loved the push and pull between Mattie and Callum. The twins cracked me up and I wanted to join in their fun. This was my first read by this author but I know it won’t be my last. Amazing story and definitely a must read.
I thought Storm the castle was a good story it would be the fist book that I’ve read by the author and I can’t wait to read more . Liked how the couple meet one another it was so unexpected but felt right and the hero has a accent so ya . The characters are really interesting they really made the story for me to were I wanted to know what was to come and hoping for a happy ending . I’m so excited to read more of the Marry the Scot series it’s going to be so good .

A contemporary Highlander? I had to check it out! Makes it easier to think, it could happen to you (even if you are married)! That’s what books are for right? This is a love story where the hero and heroine have some struggles to get to an HEA. Would you have it any other way? It keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. Callum’s struggles are partially due to Mathilda’s dad. Mathilda wants to rescue her sister from a poor home-life, but needs to be married to do so! Does she marry her dad’s partner, even without love? Callum, let’s go!!!! Amazing debut book!
This is such a great romance. I thought this might have been a historical romance but it was not. However, it did not disappoint. The main storyline is about Mathilda and Callum. How they met and their increasing attraction to each other. There are some serious subplots in the story e.g. raising a family from a young age, running a business to keep a home and hearth for your family, having a child out of wedlock, who is your father? The bio dad or the one that raised you, debt and the repercussion, physical abuse and dysfunctional family dynamics. Now these sub topics are just touched on but it really lends credibility to the overall story making it much more realistic. I love this book and highly recommend it.
