In a world at war, a slave girl’s lethal curse could become one kingdom’s weapon of salvation. If the curse–and the girl–can be controlled.“I raise my chin as the buyers stare. Yes. Look. You don’t want me. Because, eventually, accidentally, I will destroy you.”As a slave in the war-weary kingdom of Faelen, seventeen-year-old Nym isn’t merely devoid of rights, her Elemental kind are only born … you.”
As a slave in the war-weary kingdom of Faelen, seventeen-year-old Nym isn’t merely devoid of rights, her Elemental kind are only born male and always killed at birth–meaning, she shouldn’t even exist.
Standing on the auction block beneath smoke-drenched mountains, Nym faces her fifteenth sell. But when her hood is removed and her storm-summoning killing curse revealed, Nym is snatched up by a court advisor and given a choice: be trained as the weapon Faelen needs to win the war or be killed.
Choosing the former, Nym is unleashed into a world of politics, bizarre parties, and rumors of an evil more sinister than she’s being prepared to fight . . . not to mention the trainer whose dark secrets lie behind a mysterious ability to calm every lightning strike she summons.
But what if she doesn’t want to be the weapon they’ve all been waiting for? Set in a beautifully eclectic world of suspicion, super abilities, and monsters, Storm Siren is a story of power. And whoever controls that power will win.

I am long past being a teen, but this book for young adults is cute and readable. I liked all the characters and will probably follow up with the next book in the series.
This was such an awesome read! I was so engrossed in this story. It is told so enthusiastically and it really resonated with me.
What I liked
These characters are so great. They are all well balanced. They each have their own agendas, strengths, and weaknesses, which I loved discovering. I really loved getting to know them all. I also loved that …
I’ve been wanting to read this series for awhile. When I finally picked it up, I had a hard time putting it down. Incredible story telling!
Storm Siren is YA-MAZING!! Mary Weber delivers a spectacular fantasy world full of danger, intrigue, and action. I have to admit that I am not well versed in the fantasy genre. The extent of my deviations into the genre are the Narnia series and Lord of the Rings, and I am kicking myself for not grabbing this book when it was released. I will not …
Interesting and well written.. fantasy… Wonderful Characters .engaging… story telling.. Just got book 2 in this series.
Nym, a slave and Elemental, has two choices: either be trained as a weapon or be killed. She chooses life.
The cover is gorgeous, the first chapter is strong, yet the rest of the story isn’t nearly as riveting. A lot of it felt like the TV series “The Last Airbender” (which I loved, BTW). But there’s something missing in the book. I can’t really …
Storm siren is a well-crafted fantasy in the modern tradition with a strong female protagonist action intrigue and even romance in a nice page-turning package.
This is my all time favorite book!!!
