A tornado has destroyed a small Minnesota community and among the missing are not only a group of students but PEAK Rescue team leader Chet King. Ty Remington will stop at nothing to rescue his mentor, not even when the girl he loved–and lost–walks back into his life. But Brette needs his help more than he knows, despite her stubborn determination to push him away. And when he gets a second … chance, loving her just might cost him more than he can imagine.
A blogger for Vortex Storm Chasers, Brette Arnold didn’t expect her adventures to land her in the same place as Ty, the guy who she walked–no, ran–from over a year ago. She had her reasons–good ones. The kind that tell her that falling for him again would only lead to heartache. But Ty isn’t the kind of man to give up–not on the missing students, or on her.
Life and love hang in the balance in Susan May Warren’s breathless story of holding on to hope during a deadly summer of storms.

The PEAK Rescue team adventures continue in book 5 of the Montana Rescue series! In Storm Front, you will experience chasing and outrunning tornadoes! Chet, leader of PEAK, is missing after a tornado hits a small town in Minnesota! Naturally, the team shows up to search for him as well as the missing track team! Brette from earlier books is now a blogger and photographer for Vortex Storm Chasers. Handsome, dependable Ty Remington who Brette ran from loving in the past is part of the PEAK team. All of the characters are well-written. I expect nothing less from Susan May Warren’s books! Storm Front is a story of hope. Where would any of us be without hope during the storms of life? All of the books in Montana Rescue have been exciting but, being from the midwest, I could relate more to Storm Front! Storm Front can be read as a stand alone book but you will enjoy it more if you read the series. I received my e-book copy of Storm Front through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
Susan May Warren has the God given gift to craft a story about devastating tornadoes and heart breaking life events, all the while conveying a peace that only God can give throughout the storms of life. While reading about shattering storms and lives, I felt that peace shine through her words.
Susan’s characters are old friends having read all her Montana Rescue series and most of her other novels. I feel as if I really know these people.
Ty, a member of the PEAK rescue team carries a load of guilt that he cannot put down. He does not feel really needed on the team, even though he has hunches which often save lives. He does not realize that he is right where God wants him. He feels a connection to Brett and has been drawn to pray for her for the last year not knowing why.
Brett, whose life events have caused her to lose hope, soon finds Ty‘s unwavering and unconditional love a way to find peace and God. But she struggles with trusting and must learn to do it all over again each day. But by patiently modeling Christ’s love for us, Ty reaches Brett’s heart.
Kasey and Ben reappear as they overcome trust issues in an effort to become a family. And Chet King‘s wise counsel as Ty’s mentor affirms him and was right on the mark as usual.
Susan’s stories always present faith in God as central and Storm Front is no exception. It is a wonderful book. I highly recommend it!!
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review, the opinions are entirely my own.
Yay! Another book in the Montana Rescue Series! One of my favorite series to be sure!
Ty Remington… I have waited for his story for so long! Ty is so sweet! I loved getting to know him and Brette better! Ty has such a love for people, always wanting to help them, not giving up on anyone. He’s just what Brette needs as she struggles through life, if only she’ll let him in. Ty has such a way with words as well, how he gently witnessed to Brette about the Lord. I love watching those journeys as they come back to Him. And how they both helped each other move on, forgive them selves, let go and look to the future.
Filled with action, this book certainly kept you coming back.
I always love reading more about the other Team Members in all of her books. How she brings them all together, and you get to catch up on their lives. Its like one big family.
Brette did seem to go in circles a lot though. It seemed the same things just kept happening, in slightly different ways.
But y’all… the ending of this book! No spoilers but.. I can’t wait for the next book!
I received this from the publisher for an honest review.
What could be more fun? Mention of Montana? Echo Lake Cafe? Or following storm chasers in the book. Susan May Warren sure had my heart pounding a few times in this book, from feeling the bookshelves crashing in on them with flying glass and other heart pounding events.
I think my favorite part of this book was the non-typical romantic storyline. Yeah, sure, it was boy loves girl. Girl loves boy. But there are complications. That was typical. But I loved how the author took a story and put in the complications of real life pain into this book from cancer, abandonment, grief, PTSD, and other issues that the real living heroes of our everyday life face. You could totally relate to them as they faced their human weakness, and saved lives or tramped after tornados in Minnesota.
I obtained this book through NetGalley and from the publisher. The opinions contained herein are my own.
I would recommend you read the others in the series before reading this one, if you like to read things in a row.
With intense weather events, action-packed rescues, and down-to-earth authentic romance, this story simultaneously delivers a satisfactory happily ever after (for not one but two lovely couples) AND supercharges the anticipation level for the final installment of the Montana Rescue series.
Ty Remington’s heart is as big as his beefy physique and he has the kind of faith that moves mountains or in this case, the aftermath of emotional and physical storms. Brette Arnold has been through the wringer over the last year and her spirit is battered and broken.
A tornado on the cover might set the bar high but Storm Front exceeded my high expectations! I love the way Susan May Warren keeps all of the characters within the PEAK team involved during the entire series. Her engaging style captivates readers page after page throughout this binge-worthy series! I highly recommend Storm Front and the entire Montana Rescue series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
Edge of your seat suspense from beginning to end! Ty Remington is still trying to find his place on the PEAK Rescue Team. He’s still not back to flying the chopper so he buries himself in trying to rescue every single person that possibly can. Brette Arnold is struggling to just live one day at a time. Once so vibrant, the events of the last year have nearly taken everything from her – including her very life. She buries herself in working with the Vortex Storm Chasers as a photographer. It’s the perfect gig for someone running from the storms in their own personal life. It would be just like God to work through insurmountable circumstances such as a devastating tornado in the middle of another state to bring their paths together. What happens next is a story similar to all the elements of a tornado – violent winds blowing & stirring everybody and everything as in a mixmaster and turning them and their emotions inside out; rain and hail beating down as these characters feel as though they are getting beaten down whenever they try to make a rescue whether it’s a physical rescue or a rescue of the heart; trees & other heavy debris blocking their escape as they feel trapped in their circumstances, life choices and situations beyond their control. Overall there is the beautiful truth of God’s protection and providence in and through ALL THINGS. I was provided an ARC of this book by the Publisher and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
Susan May Warren nails it again. She writes an adventurous tale filled with lots of action, faith and romance. This is a continuation of her Montana Rescue series and it doesn’t disappoint. The reader is reunited with all the characters from the previous books. The author crafts a well written and engaging story that is fast paced and filled with many teachable moments.
I highlighted many parts of the book here a few:
“We can’t bargain our way to God’s love. Even if we wanted to, God would say, I already love you. It’s done.”
“We enter salvation through the door of destitute.”
“You have to start seeing yourself through the eyes of your disaster and start seeing the woman you’ve become.”
I received an advanced copy from the publisher but this review is my honest opinion.
‘I know you feel decimated, but don’t let your circumstances tell you who God is. Let who God is tell you how to deal with your circumstances.’
Reading a novel written by Susan May Warren is akin to going to a powerful church service where the message speaks directly to a situation in your own life. Seriously. I don’t know how she manages this; well, yes, I do. She writes under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Time and time again, I have been ministered to in my spirit by her words on the page. I thank God for this, for loving me and meeting me there in my need with this precious blessing of Warren’s books.
Storm Front is Warren’s 5th book in her Montana Rescue series. She ramps up the excitement in this one with a series of tornados raining down destruction on the folks we’ve come to know and love. Ty Remington has thought of Brette and nearly nothing else for the last year. Now she’s back, taking photos of storms, blogging for Vortex Storm Chasers, and he is shocked when he sees her. What has happened to Brette? He has had some serious issues to deal with in the intervening time since he last saw her, but she shocks him with her appearance.
Brette Arnold has been through a storm of a different kind, one she anticipates will never go away and so she is intent upon pushing Ty away, even though she knows he loves her. She ran from Ty over a year ago for good reasons and she doesn’t intend to let him in her life again, convinced it will only lead to heartache.
Ty Remington doesn’t give up. There are students missing in the tornado that his nearly destroyed the entire town and he is determined to follow his hunch and find them. And he doesn’t intend to give up on Brette, either.
I love the themes running through Warren’s books. This one is a storm. We all face storms in our lives as believers in Christ. “God doesn’t promise to keep the storm away, but he says he’ll be with me through it. My faith won’t protect me from the loss, but it will carry me and keep me from despair.” The storms will come; how we react to them is our own choice. Do we give up, thinking God doesn’t care, or do we run into the storm, knowing fully in our heart that He will carry us through the storm? We will most definitely be stronger when we come out of the storm.
Susan May Warren is a particular favorite author of mine and her books sit proudly on my shelves. When I crack open one of her novels, I know I am going to be blessed and I am going to grow in my walk with the Lord. THAT is why I love her books! I am not eagerly anticipating the next in her Montana Rescue series.
*My thanks to the publisher for an early copy of this book. All opinions stated here are entirely my own.
“He’s loyal to the bone, the kind of friend who shows up without a word of complaint.”
Ty Remington. Brette Arnold can scarcely believe her eyes; their paths have crossed again. And of course the first words out of his mouth were, “Oh, my gosh, Brette, what happened to you?” Disease has a way of changing a person, from the inside and outside, in her case. That’s the reason she fled Ty’s comforting presence the first time, he made her feel things that were terrifying, because hope had a way of pulling a disappearing act when it came to her not-so-ordinary life.
“Something was desperately, horribly wrong with Brette Arnold.” In spite of her undeniable beauty, she was hollow, gaunt, reserved; a shell of her former self. All those nudges of the Spirit to pray for Brette over the past year make terrible sense to Ty now. But here they are, in the aftermath of a terrible weather event, and people need to be rescued; now Ty wonders if Brette is one of them. Can his heart withstand it?
Within the very eye of the storm, Susan May Warren has hollowed out a lovely story of unconditional love; first glimpsed through the eyes of human imperfection, where dark clouds of fear and uncertainty constantly hover, daring faith to brave an appearance. But “perfect love casts out all fear”, allowing God to show up big and the lyrics to happily-ever-afters to be re-written, in this adventure-ridden addition to Warren’s “Montana Rescue” series.
I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. The opinions stated are entirely my own.
I am not sure where to start on this story, the storyline is so packed with the emotions of the characters and the storylines you can’t help but be immersed in it. The rescue team is is like an extended family who love each other but sometimes clash. This story has so much hope and how the characters struggle with God, but ultimately they find that even though bad things happen God is walking right beside you to help pick up the pieces. I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary copy.
Storm Front Book #5 of Montana Rescue Series Susan May Warren
Susan May Warren has been one of my all time favorite authors since reading her 2008 Russia Mission series, and with good reason. A prolific author, Susan May Warren’s books have sold over 1 million copies.
Book #5 of the Montana Rescue Series, Storm Front, is exciting and breathtaking. In this novel, readers will discover Ty Remington and Brette Arnold have been through since she abruptly disappeared years ago, taking Ty’s heart with her.
PEAK Rescue Team leader, Chet King and a small group of students, are missing after a devastating tornado sweeps through a small town in Minnesota. Upon hearing his beloved mentor is missing after the storm, Ty heads to Minnesota to help with rescue operations.
Brette Arnold is a blogger, and photographer, for a group of storm chasers determined to assist in bettering the advanced warning systems for tornados. They too head to the small devastated Minnesota town.
Sparks fly when Ty and Brette meet again, pairing up as part of the rescue efforts will either bring them together or push them further apart, maybe forever.
PS As a bonus, readers learn what happens to the elusive Ben King, who is currently performing in a neighboring town. He must decided if remaining on the concert circuit without the woman he loves, and their daughter, is what he truly wants in life.
Netgalley
What’s really awesome about Ty and Brette’s story is that everyone, and I mean everyone, has been through some type of “storm” in their own life. Getting to peer in and take a closer look at where both these two powerful characters came from and the storms they endured was eye-opening plus incredibly inspiring.
Brette is dealing with a double mastectomy and running from everyone who loves her or wants to take care of her. I liked how Susan May Warren talked about the other side of cancer; the rebuilding process, when remission comes and what feelings, emotions, etc. a person may experience.
Brette was also trying to find out what her purpose is in life and whether or not it’s worth it to have hope for her future. To some she seemed to be reckless and takes a job on a storm chaser team but winds up walking right back into The PEAK Rescue Team and Ty. Watching the story between her and Ty unfold was beautiful because both had to deal with deep wounds together in the middle of a tornado trying to find a group of people that had gone missing with PEAK Rescue. This book shows the importance of hope in any and all situations that life may throw at you. I loved it!
I won’t drop any spoilers but this is a book you will NOT want to miss! I’m already looking forward to the next installment!
*I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the Publisher for reviewing, the opinions are my own
Oh, how I love this Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren. Storm Front is the latest installment, and what an adventure it is! This story grabbed me from the first page and just wouldn’t let go to the last. Warren is a master at creating broken, realistic, yet endearing characters who progress and grow through their trials. Ty and Brette were the focus of this story, and I loved the way forgiveness of self and faith mixed with hope enabled them to become stronger.
Although it’s part of a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone. The reader will probably enjoy it more by reading the series in order, as many of the characters make appearances in the other books. Susan May Warren has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and I would recommend her books to anyone who enjoys clean, uplifting fiction.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from Revell/NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Susie May has done it again. This is a page turner from the beginning so expect a sleepless night once you start. She draws you into their lives right from page one. Each of us will be able to relate to at least one if not all of the characters in this 5th Montana Fire book.
Ty Remington drew me in from the first book. I loved him and wanted to know more. The struggles that he and Brette faced remind each of us that we need each other. They both struggled to come to grips with that as each were forced to face their own storms to reach a life worth living.
It was great to see the other members of PEAK again as well. Ben and Kacey were also forced to face the hard storms of life as each felt they weren’t good enough for each other. All in all this was a great book. I hated to put it down at night and it leaves you hanging for the next book. Will they all have a happy ending? (
Storm Front by Susan May Warren is #5 in the Montana Rescue series.
Excitement leaps from the pages of this novel! A “Storm Front” is brewing and not just in the weather but between the characters in this compelling story.
With this glimpse into the world of search and rescue, Susie May gives us depth of personalities as the people grapple with realistic issues. This time the group travels to Minnesota for a rescue close to their hearts.
Biblical truths are anchors in the lives of the PEAK team. I especially liked the references to Romans 8:38 & 39, one of my favorite passages. In the midst of our troubles, nothing can separate us from the love of God. These circumstances that are seemingly impossible, such as cancer, catastrophe and feeling helpless and lost, only serve to draw us closer to God. He is still there all the time- helping us through them!
Ty Remington is trying to get back into the cockpit of the rescue helicopter after an accident that tore up his knee. Brette Arnold is recovering from not only surgery but of the psychological devastation that comes with battling cancer. Brette is flirting with danger by becoming a photographer for a storm chaser. Can their foundation of Faith see them through? Can working together bring them closer?
Even though this story focuses on Ty and Brette, the others on the team make their appearance and some things are resolved in other romantic pair-ups.
There is more in store for the inhabitants of Mercy Falls, Montana. Look for the next installment of the Montana Rescue Series. I know I will!
*I recieved this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
“God doesn’t promise to keep the storm away, but He says He’ll be with me through it. My faith won’t protect me from the loss, but it will carry me and keep me from despair.”~page 195
High-stakes adventure and tense moments that will steal your breath away are just a few of things you will find while reading this story. Susan Warren is one of my top authors who knows how to throw you in the middle of the action from the start and not let up until the ever-so-satisfying ending. Strong characters, strong faith, and a strong plot are what keeps me coming back for more!
Ty & Brette struggle with storms in their lives, both in their past and present. Ty feels responsible for the helicopter crash that almost took the life of Chet a year ago. Guilt weighs heavy on him and he’s still trying to find his place in the PEAK team. Not realizing that God has already called him exactly where he needs to be. Brette fought her battle with cancer, but not without physical changes that hold her back from loving Ty. What she desperately needs to feel is hope again, something only God can fulfill if she would but let Him! I love watching the transformation in them once God gets a hold of their hearts; fully and completely. It’s a beautiful thing!
“No wonder the world needed people of faith to stand strong—they were looking to them for the smallest inkling of hope.” ~page 285
This is a well-rounded story that involves other characters from previous books, and a continuing storyline that gets better & better. To which, I’m not sure how Susan Warren does it over & over again! I’m always eager for her next book.
