This book captured my imagination and made me a fan of the Harry Dresden series from the first reading. I love the characters, the humor, and the believable integration of Harry’s reality into our world – it is everything Urban fantasy should be!
I’ve read all the Jim Butcher series of books. I totally recommend them. To men as well as women
I’ve heard about these books for ages and when I saw them on sale, I got the first 5 in the series. This is a typical guy noir detective story with a supernatural element thrown in. I wish it was better, but it was very predictable and stale.
I love how he moves though the different worlds of the Sci-fi world even when he doesn’t want to!
Harry, Dresden, wizard and finder of lost items. This is a paranormal thriller that defines magic in a new a grittier terms than most others. Not perfect by any means, Harry tries to eek out a simple existence between saving the rest of us from what gods bump in the night. This is a wonderfully crafted book that is full of quirky, unusual and interesting characters with a myriad of positive and negative attributes. As the story is told from Harry’s point of view, we are able to gain insights into his thought processes, his motivations and actions. The storyline flows smoothly and quickly chalked full of great action, frightening scenes, surprises, and the unexpected and of course magic. I loved the fact the Harry is down to earth, flawed and makes errors, it is wonderful to see a character that with such passion and determination and yet often critical of himself. I found this book creative, well written and I look forward to reading the whole series.
Storm Front does a great job of introducing us to the main characters in the Harry Dresden world without giving us TMI. The plot is solid, magical btenrssing enough stands on its own two feet. We learn what kind of a person Dresden s and the hints of the challenges and development to come.
Hello, Harry. Nice to meet you.
Love the dude on the cover, even if he doesn’t wear the iconic hat in the stories. Harry Dresden is perfect for adult lovers of Harry Potter or Rockford Files fans who love magic. As good as the TV show was, the books are better.
“My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk. When things get strange, when what goes bump in the night flicks on the lights, when no one else can help you, give me a call. I’m in the book.”
I’m doing a re-read of the Dresden Files and with each book, I’m reminded why I’m so freakin’ in love with this series! If you are a fan of kick ass stories, even if you aren’t a fan of the paranormal, I can’t recommend this series enough!
This book was amazing! I started the series not knowing what to expect due to having watched the series. Pleasantly surprised that TV series is almost as good as the book! The characters are strong, the world building is complex, and the writing witty. Thoroughly entertaining, immersing you into the life of Harry Dresden and the world of magic.
The rest of the series is good, once you get past this book. Storm Front isn’t bad, it’s just very chauvinistic, which made it difficult for me to enjoy it. Things get better in book 2, so maybe just skip book 1.
I recommend the whole series. Great fun!
He is the best. I have read all of his books at least twice.
Urban fantasy at its best.
Compelling, and solidly grounded in an alternate version of our world. It’s easy to understand what Harry faces in an effort to wrangle his world, and it’s interesting to see what magic requires in this universe. Great stories in the series so far!
Butcher has done it again. If you follow the series, this is as good as all the rest. If you don’t follow the series, you should. Jim Butcher weaves an excellent tale full of surprises and twists in a wonderful world that is part of our world today but hidden. A real page-turner.
I love the entire series, so I may be a little bit prejudiced with this rating.
I love every book I’ve read so far by Jim Butcher and have enjoyed the ride each time!! I love Harry Dresden, the Wizard and hero of the Dresden books. He’s devoted to doing the right thing. Doing the right thing gets Harry into some horrible messes! He deals with all kinds of monsters and they can be tough and scary to battle. But battle he does. Even when all the odds are against him. Lots of wonderful, and not so wonderful characters, add depth, grit, true friendship, and tons of surprising twist & turns! Harry is a Wizard, and one of the good guys. He is human and fights for what’s right. You will see all the human emotions he goes through while battling the evil around him. This series is a must read!

Love all of the Harry Dresden stories.
It’s the Dresden Files. what more need I say?
