In this powerful entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Mercy Thompson must face a deadly enemy to defend all she loves… few months ago, I hadn’t stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who lived in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground, a place where humans would feel safe to come and treat with the fae.
The reality is that nothing and no one is safe. As generals and politicians face off with the Gray Lords of the fae, a storm is coming and her name is Death.
But we are pack, and we have given our word.
We will die to keep it.

I love this Author’s books. I have read and re read them over and over again. It has a little of everything in it. So worth the read
I love this series. Seriously, love it. Patricia Briggs has such a way of writing characters that make them intriguing and endearing — even when they’re psychopaths. I don’t really know what more to say other than I loved this latest installment, and I can’t wait for the next one.
I love all her Mercedes books. Really should read from the start, and you can’t wait for the next one. One of my favorite writers.
Been a fan since the beginning of this series. Another story with twists and turns, witches and increase powers for Mercy. You go girl!!
Great addition to the Mercy Thompson series.

Mercy Thompson is a mechanic, but she’s also a whole lot more. As a coyote shifter she has some problems fitting in with the Columbia Basin werewolf pack. Normally, she wouldn’t give a fig about the pack, but ever since she married their Alpha, Adam Hauptman, she kinda has to deal with them. And now she’s dealing with a situation that she brought upon herself and the pack and that’s being the go-between for the humans and the Gray Lords of the Fae. Mercy doesn’t try to make her life more complicated. These things just seem to happen.
I love this series. I really do. And while I love this installment in it, it just seems to be a bit much this time. I’m not sure why I feel that way because the book has everything I love about the entire series: paranormal shenanigans, steaminess, humor, my favorite characters, danger, mystery, and a decent plot. Ok, maybe it’s the plot. It feels off. Maybe because the last book had Mercy kidnapped and carried off to Europe. It seems like the thing on the bridge with the troll happened forever ago and I guess what I really need is a series refresher. I do hope the Fae storyline gets some more attention because I think that’s what it needs. They really only end up as a subplot of this book because there’s some new Big Bads in town and they are not Fae. Hint: there’s some adorable zombies involved. If I had to guess, this book is setting up a big Fae/human showdown which should prove very complicated and interesting. I do still love this series and can’t wait for the next story.
The action never stops in this much anticipated Mercy Thompson installment.
A great new book in the Mercy Thompson series. Not my absolute favorite in this particular series, but definitely a solid story.
Another great book in the Mercy Thompkins series. Patricia Bridges can make a single word (nudge) hot. Characters while supernatural seem so human, then behave like the supernatural they are. Now, back to waiting for the next book.
Mercy Thompson is my favorite series by Mrs.Briggs!! I loved this book. A pager turner as always and awesome characters. This is one series I hope never ends. Loved when she said this is our territory, we don’t allow black magic in our territory.
Great book! Keeps your interest from start to finish.
The Mercy Thompson series is one which continues to be a winner for me. Mercy is such a fantastic heroine. I love how her gifts keep evolving, while she still considers herself one of the weakest supernaturals in any given room. But what she may lack in brute strength, she makes up for in smarts and her ability to read a situation. This installment is no exception.
In many of the past books, the storyline surrounded a Mercy-in-Danger plot. That’s not so here. There is danger, to be sure, but Mercy is no more at risk than the pack as a whole.
Someone is raising zombie animals and since Mercy claimed the Tri-Cities under the protection of her pack, she is tapped to neutralize the threat. Somehow, though, Patricia Briggs makes the zombies here cute. They are miniature zombie goats. Zombie cows. Mercy not only has to take the animals out, but must figure out who raised them and why.
This ends up being a very witch-centric book. Although the fae do hover on the edge of the story. Leaders of the Grey Lords want to meet with the human government and Adam’s pack is part of the negotiations. But the witches are planning something nefarious and Elizaveta’s family is collateral damage. There are a lot of moving pieces, from the new wolf Sherwood to Stephan, to even Coyote. I loved it all.
Bonus points. Christy is gone from the picture. None of the squicky Bran stuff from the last Alpha and Omega book comes up. And we even get a little quality time with Mary Jo and Ben. Plus, I am reminded of how much I like Mercy and Adam together. They are so much stronger together than apart.
Over all, this was a really solid book and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Fans will not be disappointed.
Rating: A
This is Patricia Brigg’s best book yet. I love Mercy Thompson’s adventures and I recommend every single one of her books
Always a thrill ride
Yet another fashinating forray into Mercy’s world – Briggs never disappoints!
Patricia Briggs always adds humor to her Mercy Thompson series. I love these books and this one is no different. Couldn’t put it down. Must Read
Another winner by a fantastic writer
Such a great return to the Mercy Thompson world. I was on the edge of my seat reading this because I wanted so badly to know what was going to happen next, but I also did not want to be done with this book. I could happily live in the Mercy Thompson book world for the rest of my days. Briggs continues to amaze me with where she’s taking these characters, the powers and secrets continually unveiled for Mercy and all her allies.
I don’t think there’s been an official book in this series dedicated to witches being the bad ladies, and this was refreshing on that front while also staying connected to the rest of the series. There were a few shocking moments in this book, and one that had me holding the feels at bay. All-in-all, Briggs just knows how to write killer urban fantasy and keep me glued to the page.
These witches may be the creepiest villains this series has offered up, which I find very fascinating since they’re technically still human, right?
I love the cover! The yellow really makes everything pop and I like how the various runes and charms are floating chaotically around Mercy.
Mercy, Adam, and their pack of wolves are back for their 11th adventure! After claiming the Tri city area as theirs, Mercy is receiving strange requests for help from citizens. The weirdest was a toss up between the crazy goblin or the zombie Pygmy goats-oddly enough the goats sounded so cute!-but there’s something more sinister happening and it’s up to Mercy and her friends to figure out what.
I loved seeing Zee, Tad, even Uncle Mike working magic, Coyote sticking his nose into things and Wulfe…I think I actually liked the crazy vampire for a change! Not too much, but he had some interesting reveals to say the least. Sherwood had some big surprises too, but Mercy, as usual, I liked how she stepped up, but didn’t try to overdo things by herself like normal. Overall, this turned out to be better then I was expecting, especially after the slow start and I’m curious to see where Briggs will take this crew next!
Love this series! Fun characters and suspenseful plots!
