In this powerful entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Mercy Thompson must face a deadly enemy to defend all she loves… few months ago, I hadn’t stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who lived in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground, a place where humans would feel safe to come and treat with the fae.
The reality is that nothing and no one is safe. As generals and politicians face off with the Gray Lords of the fae, a storm is coming and her name is Death.
But we are pack, and we have given our word.
We will die to keep it.

I love the Mercy Thompson series, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the latest release.
Briggs delivers yet again another amazing story in the Mercy Thompson series. She brought an action-packed tale with hate groups, black witches, friends to enemies, lose, and more.
Mercy is facing the consequences of making the Tri-Cities a safe haven. She’s also stuck having to act as liaison between the humans and fae while Adam and The Pack play bodyguards to the humans. She will have to mange many things and make some difficult choices.
We are treated to some new and old characters with The Pack and all our favorite characters come to life in Storm Cursed. We learn more about Sherwood Post. Zee is present as is Uncle Mike and the Goblin King. Even Wulfe pops in.
As always Briggs captured me. The plot is well written and action-packed. I love that we are so far into the series and it’s still going strong with each book feeling fresh. It’s a well crafted story and the author made me cringe, laugh out loud, cry, and gasp.
The Mercy Thompson series continues to grow and get better with each book. Mercy is becoming stronger, The Pack is evolving, and the world continues to build. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Rated: 4 Stars
Mercy Thompson is easily one of my favorite Urban Fantasy characters, and she doesn’t disappoint in this 11th installment of the Mercy Thompson series.
This was one of my favorite books in the series so far (second to River Marked), which is saying a lot as many long series start to lose my interest around 7-8 books in. Patricia has a way of keeping things fresh and interesting though.
In Storm Cursed, Mercy, Adam, and directly in the thick of it when zombie animals arrive at the Tri Cities territory, and before long, it becomes clear this is part of a bigger power move at play.
While this story was action packed and full of magic and adventure, what draws me to this series most of all are the characters. Adam and Mercy’s relationship, as well as her relationship with Stefan, make a wonderful backdrop to the mystery and danger unfurling on every page.
The evil in the world is deadlier than ever for Mercy’s pack. I devoured this book in one sitting and couldn’t get enough of danger, drama, action, and adventure of this chilling read. Highly recommended, 5 stars, and two enthusiastic thumbs up.
Best Mercy Thompson book yet…
I loved this gory, creepy goodness.
It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me because I thought the whole story oh no who next? Oh no, who next? I have loved this series since I first picked up and this book reminds me why. This author always gives a great, strong, emotional story. Mercy and Adam have many things on their hands and hearts in this gripping tale. So grab your copy and find out what they are up against this time.
Review of Audiobook – which, with Lorelei King narrating, was a treat!
I came to the wonderful world of Mercy Thompson late, but after binging the entire series (along with Alpha and Omega), I was hungry for more. Storm Cursed did not disappoint!
As the daughter of Coyote (a mischievous god whose brand of chaos is on par with Loki), Mercy is destined to wind up in the middle of any supernatural brouhaha, and planned negotiations between humans and the Fae are no exception. Negotiations are threatened when some scarily powerful new witches invade the Columbia Basin pack’s territory (her hot and heroic husband is alpha). Mercy and the werewolves must stop them and their zombie-making, death magic driven plot before innocents die and the werewolves get blamed.
Aside from the main plot, which was great fun to follow, I enjoyed seeing Mercy mend fences with her old friend and ally, vampire Stefan. Hope to see more of Larry the Goblin King and Sherwood, a powerful old wolf with a hidden past that should prove fascinating to delve into, in future books. Loved Wulfe’s part in the story. Arguably the scariest vampire in the local seethe, he’s also one of the most fun characters to follow…at a reasonable distance. No spoilers, but his part in the story is unexpected makes for a wild ride!
Can’t wait for more!
I love Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson series, but this newest book might be my favorite of all of them. Yes, she makes black magic terrible and frightening. And there are grim happenings when the Hardesty witches step onstage. But there’s enough humor and interaction between the good guys and Adam’s pack to keep the book from being too depressing. I’ve missed the feel of the pack and Mercy’s friends for a while, so it was wonderful to have Uncle Mike back in all of his fae glory. I grew enamored of Larry, the Goblin King, and I even started to warm up to Mary Jo. The werewolf Sherman was memorable, and even Wulfe–the scary, unpredictable vampire, grew on me. And Adam and Mercy felt more like a solid couple in this book. This is one of those books that I paid to buy in hardback, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a keeper. It will go on my bookshelves as one of the beloved novels that I can’t part with.
A great addition to the series, Mercy and friends are up against witches this time out, and possibly one of their own.
While I loved it, I missed some of the action that is usually throughout this series and also missed more pack scenes. I also found the ending a bit abrupt and less thrilling than the lead up led me to believe it would be.
Still, wonderful world building, amazing characters and great writing kept me riveted. Recommend.
Witches, curses, and zombies, oh my!
Mercy’s declaration a few books back has had some interesting and dangerous side effects. She has to deal with witches, fae and zombies! And not just any zombies…zombie goats!!
Mercy and the gang are on the hunt for a zombie maker, while also trying to help set up peace talks with the fae and humans. I especially enjoyed Zee and Ted’s involvement in this book. I really hope they continue to work with Mercy in future books because they are so badass.
We are also seeing how strong Adam and Mercy’s bond is during this book. It really shows that they are a power couple and the will continue to be
I just started this yesterday and I’m already done! Noooooooo. Now it will be another year before the next one.
I love this series. It’s in my top five favorites, and I wait each year for the new book to drop. This one was a great addition to the series. Several side characters got screen time and had their stories expanded on, and Mercy’s abilities were also delved into and expanded on. We saw old favorites (Zee!) return for some screen time, and adorableness like miniature zombie goats.
This book was also one of creepiest entries to date. I thought nothing could get creepier than delving into the inner workings of the vampire seethe, but I was soooooo wrong. Turns out, black magic witches take the creepy cake in this world. Seriously.
There were some great moments in this book that made me laugh out loud, and others that were touching. Patricia Briggs knocked it out of the park, and next year can’t come soon enough.
This was as many have said darker than some in this series but it all made sense. There were humorous references to things from previous books in the series that a new reader wouldn’t have a clue about so read the whole series to really know what’s going on. I do love this authors books as they always keep me glued to my seat rabidly absorbing every little thing going on…and there is ALWAYS a great deal going on! Twists and turns…stuff you never expected and just when you think you have it figured out, you don’t. The characters have great depth and grow a bit more with every book. Briggs is a just buy it for me.
I have just gobbled up Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs. I just love Mercy Thompson!
It seemed like forever since the last Mercy book was released, so this was so needed.
I totally missed Mercy, Adam and the rest of the gang and go be honest I will be super sad once this series ends.
This like most her books start off with a bang and throws you right into action with Mercy and Co. I really enjoyed the new dynamic between her and the pack now that Adam finally put his foot down. Though some members, make it clear the only reason they are “nice” to her is because of that. But you can also tell others really like her. I love how she handles it, like everything with a lot of humor.
One theme in this book was politics. Politics between the humans and all supernatural, some if it was important but some parts seemed to be dragged out a bit, especially when there were more pressing issues happening, like the witches and other things. There were quite a few things happening in this book and we get a few different things, from goblins to zombies and witches, and of course the pack and Mercy are right in the middle of everything.
We meet some new faces, but of course we also run into our friends, Zee and Tad, our allies and some no friends Vampires and the witches come out to play. Of course the Fay do as well in their own way of course.
We get a lot of Sherwood this book and learn a lot more about him and his past, we almost see him more than Adam, it felt like at times. One thing I wanted more besides Adam, was a Mercy teamed up with Mary-Jo. I really hope we get more of that in to the future, I enjoyed that way too much.
Adam like I said we see but not as much as I would have liked, he was busy, a lot with the humans and the politics between humans and non-humans.
Overall this book was not my favorite with all the politics, it was slowed down a bit, or at least for me. But that being said I still really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what is in store next for Mercy and Co.
I rate it 4
This is a wonderful edition to the Mercy Thompson series. It’s also the creepiest one I mean that in the best possible way. This deals with black witches, necromancy and some of the darker spectrum of magic that is a bit of a change. I think it was hauntingly good to read. Definitely recommend.
Heading toward my second read.
alway look forward to ANY of her books esp. this series! Awesome!!!
I love Mercy Thompson and this is a typical offering. Good read.
I love all her books.
Like the previous books in the series, this is a page turner that has more than one unexpected twist.
Love this author. Can always know her books will be good.
Though the Mercy books are pretty much formula driven at this point, I am forever addicted to this cast of characters and will read on happily until she stops writing!
Wonderful series I recommend the whole series. Best read in order but do not have to.
