Historical fiction is my passion. I so love bringing histories to life – the reason I dedicate most of my time to writing historical fiction books!
Storm Clouds Rolling In is the very first book in the ongoing Bregdan Chronicles historical novel series. It’s readers like you who have turned it into a world-wide best-seller. Thank you!
Book Description: Carrie Cromwell comes of age as the dark … age as the dark clouds of the Civil War swallow the country. Born with a fiery spirit and a strong mind, she finds herself struggling between the common wisdom of the South and the truth she has discovered.
The activities of the Underground Railroad and her close friendships with the Cromwell Plantation slaves create difficult choices. But when her decisions put her at odds with her heritage, and challenge her dreams, will she be able to give up all that is precious to her?
This first book of The Bregdan Chronicles historical fiction series will pull you in and never let you go. You’ll experience the Civil War era (and all the years to come) through the eyes of both White and Black, free & slave, Southern & Northern – and you’ll fall in love with every character. How many books will be in the Bregdan Chronicles? You’ll have to ask God about that… I intend to write these character’s stories, one year at a time, for as long as I’m able to write. I’m passionate about bringing history to life through historical fiction. Since I’m amazingly healthy, that could be for a very long time! I don’t like stories to end any more than you do. This one won’t end for a very long time!

Historical fiction at its best! I have learned so much about the Civil War from this series and the characters are so believable. I’m only on number 6 but I will continue reading these amazing books.
The Bregdan Chronicles Historical Fictional series is the best fiction I have read in a very long time. The author, Ginny Dye, painlessly interweaves her story with well researched facts. Her rich characters become friends and as you read you will laugh, cry, and love.
Ginny Dye is a writer whose work deserves to be widely read. I had this book recommended by a friend and I am so pleased. The characters are vivid, exciting and immediately engaging. Ginny draws you into a world that many would rather not see, but one that was a harsh and hard reality not so very long ago. I’ve already moved on to the next book in …
Opened my eyes to how the Blacks were treated on Plantations. Anxious to read the next one.
Love this whole series!
Love this so emotional about southern girl reaching adulthood and forming her beliefs. With the help of friends, slaves, and family. Learning History of our country by reading the story of these wonderful characters. Go with them thru the early years into the war and beyond. Historical Romance is my choice to learn from.
A series of Historical adventure books. Now I have to read the others in the series. Can’t wait.
My personal story with Ginny Dye’s Bregdan Chronicle series began about 20 years ago when I read her first four books in this historical fiction romance series (also found in the Christian genre) under different titles and a pseudonym.
The story of Carrie, a Virginia plantation owner’s daughter, her slave and best friend Rose, and their friends …
Expensive for the story line you get and no ending of the story line as the author continues to write and it becomes repetitive.
A fantastic historical fiction. Enjoyed reading this series as it takes us through the start of the Civil War and beyond.
All the books in this series are written fairly well. After the first few the plot gets somewhat predictable. The historic value of this book inspires some insightful thoughts of the Civil War and the years afterwards. The Democrats back then were not too different from the librals of today. We need to learn from the mistakes made over 150 …
Such a terrific series. Am on book 8 now. Educational as well as great reading
as much as i love the outlander series by diana gabaldon, this series, the bregdan chronicles by ginny dye, is right up there with it though it’s not time travel. it goes into much more detail of the civil war era than was gone into with gone with the wind. you can see, feel, and almost hear the battles as described. you can hear the longing for …
This is the first book in a series called The Bregdan Chronicles.Excellant read. It.is set before and leading up to.The Civil War
love Ginny Dye trilogy of books! The characters are so inspiring, encouraging and sometimes witty, caring! I love the interaction when all characters got together in the later books!! Also how Ginny Dye infused real events with fictional characters! All her books will keep you intrigued as to what is going to happen next! Excellent writing!
All of the books in this series are fantastic and very historically accurate. Ms Dye puts a lot of time into research for each book. You will learn about the ways we have treated the blacks during the civil war ( which is what got me started on the series ) and the newest on how we treated the indians in our country. And then the homosexual …
