CAn psychologist Dr. Angela Blackwell save D.J.? He is a a war veteran unhappy with his life, with dark and painful secrets weighing in his heart and he is sure the solution is to end his life. Angela is still struggling with her husband’s sudden death and she is determined to save D.J. even if it means breaking all the rules. A great story and great audiobook
Couldn’t put this one down!
This is the story of a man committed to suicide who is using a psychologist to assure that his wife, who doesn’t know of his plans, will receive the insurance.
The author uses the very clever device of ‘stories’, back to his childhood, to explain his despair. The stories contain characters that appear in his present, and the author seamlessly weaves these rich characters and events into a believable whole. At no time until the end did I know which story was the tipping point, and then the reader realizes that they all were. Well written and well worth reading!
Will he commit suicide? What motivates him? How can his therapist help? I had to read on. A very good book.
This story really tugged at my heart, making me tear up in places and smile in others. There were a few times that I was not sure if I would like the book, but these lead to more captivating pages. As the untold stories begin to be revealed, I thought I knew where they would lead but was not quite ready for the full truth. The facts and statistics at the end made the story more poignant for me.
I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
Love Leslie Wolfe ‘s books. Well written and they demand that I read them start to finish, ASAP.
A unique premise: a man has a long-range plan to implement his suicide.

What a great story. I didn’t get the twist until very late in the book. As a veteran I can relate.
The healing power of animals
I wanted to know what happened; stayed up really late to get to the ending!
too dark for my reading at christmas
I found this book to be sad but entertaining. The sadness turned to a happy ending that you don’t see coming. Kept wondering what the main character would end up doing.
We’ve all heard about the pain with which veterans of war live on a daily basis. We’ve also heard of these many suicides. What if a counselor was determined to prevent the suicide of a patient? What if she was willing to risk her own career for that person? Would we approve of her or would we take away her license?
