Who were the six dead men on the plane?
Gannon soon learns the answer to that fateful question as he is thrust into an increasingly complex and deadly game of cat and mouse with a group of the world’s most powerful and dangerous men who will stop at nothing to catch him.
But as the walls close in, Gannon reveals a few secrets of his own. Before he retired to the islands, Gannon had another life, one with a lethal set of skills that he must now call back to the surface if he wants to make it out alive.
As a decade-long James Patterson writing partner, Michael Ledwidge is a pro at writing fast-paced, in-the-moment prose, tightly choreographed action set pieces and plot twists that drop at exactly the right moment. With this novel, he kicks off an unstoppable, gripping new thriller series.

Michael Ledwidge has the gift. He knows how to involve us in the story from page one. The writing is sharp and the action doesn’t let up. Stop at Nothing is flawless.
Quite the page turner with a strong protagonist facing incredible odds. The reader will have to set aside a bit of disbelief in how things unfold, but it’s easy to do in this fast-paced, exciting thriller.
In Stop at Nothing, Michael Ledwidge give us sharply drawn characters in a tense, fast-paced adventure that keeps the reader entertained from the intriguing start to the wild finish.
“What do you think makes this world go round…? Truth, justice, and the American way?…” “It’s power…”
From the first page this book grabbed my attention and held on to it until the very end. It is full of chills, thrills, and up and down hills (whatever the he’ll that means).
Michael Gannon has retired to the Bahamas. One day he’s deep sea fishing by himself thirty miles from land when a small jet crashes into the ocean in front of him. He dives down to the wreckage to see if there are any survivors and discovers a fortune in cash and uncut diamonds instead.
Gannon assumes this was a drug deal gone bad and he’s anonymously acquired a fortune but soon finds out the story behind the crash is much more complex than that.
I loved the characters in this book – good and bad – and I was glad to see this is the first book in a series about Gannon.
The story is pretty unbelievable (or maybe I’m naive and it’s more believable than I want it to be). But, as I’ve written before, this is fiction and it doesn’t have to be true to be very readable.
I received this book from Hanover Square Press through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.
STOP AT NOTHING by Michael Ledwidge is an action packed thriller. The story largely takes place in the Bahamas, New York City, and London. However, some of it takes place in numerous other locations. Michael Gannon is deep sea fishing when he sees a plane crash into the ocean. Unfortunately, his antennae was snapped when a marlin got away a little while earlier. He dives at the site and finds no survivors, but he does find cash and uncut diamonds. Who were the six dead men and what were they doing with the cash and diamonds?
The characters are compelling and you either root for them or against them. They had distinct voices and their own flaws and virtues. The plot like a scenario that could actually happen. The motivations were well-drawn and seemed believable. The secondary characters were well-rounded and enhanced the story. There were some plot twists and the stakes and tension were high throughout this thriller. The author did a great job of giving a clear sense of time and place without being overly descriptive.
Overall, the plot intense, thought-provoking, suspenseful, entertaining and kept me fully engaged. The prose was well-written and engrossing. My only quibble is that there could have been a little more wrap up of certain situations after the action peaked and before the epilogue. However, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more of Michael Ledwidge’s novels.
Thanks to HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing (U S & Canada) – Hanover Square Press and Michael Ledwidge for an ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
I’m not sure how he did it—it seems to defy science—but Michael Ledwidge figured out a way to write a book using pure, distilled adrenaline. Michael Gannon is a fantastic protagonist, destined for the pantheon of characters we love to follow through countless adventures. Here’s hoping for many more.
I literally could not put down this book. I loved it. Stop at Nothing is a timely, perfectly-paced, character-driven thriller with fun twists and intense action. Michael Gannon is the next great hero in popular fiction.
I’ll follow this series
Stop at Nothing is the first novel I have read written by Michael Ledwidge but definitely not my last.
Michael Gannon just wants to live out his retirement in anonymity fishing off the coast of Bahamas. When he witnesses a plane crash he naturally tries to help but there is nothing he can do. The plane is destroyed and everyone in it has perished. Unfortunately there is money and lots of it. Gannon is a good man but he also has debt so he takes the money and hides it.
Gannon has a past and the men who coming looking for their money have no idea what they are up against. This story takes off with twists and surprises right to the end. Thank you to Michael Ledwidge for this exciting read
Fun new author for me.
Loved it! Can’t wait for the next one.
Gannon is my new hero!
I don’t give many 5 stars so that tells you how much I liked this political thriller. Very well written and covers more than just the United States.
A total explosive, edge of your seat kind of story! Characters murdered left and right, good guys and bad, the hits just keep coming! It was a great, fast, enjoyable read!
Awesome book
Enjoyed this book very much. Original plot. Very inventive story. A page turner!
Disappointing and disingenuous. A good concept, but the main character starts out as a bit of a bumbler, making rookie mistakes and acting guilty and suspicious, then turns out to be a super efficient covert agent who trained the most highly secretive agents around. That just doesn’t wash. It felt like a cheap trick to draw the reader in, but a real betrayal at the “reveal”. If you like being played as a sucker, then this book is for you, but if you’d rather spend your time reading a really good action-adventure book, pass on this one.
Entertaining
Thought this book the best I have read in 2 years
It was a different story. Nice for a change.
