Once upon a time, there lived a witch. A kickass, brilliant, dope as hell witch whose magicks inspired fear and envy. Like all classic fairy tales, her story had the usual goodies.Destiny.Adventure.Missing souls.Unfathomable evil, the precarious fate of the entire universe, blah, blah, blah. But let’s get back to that witch with the awesome hair… hair…
Fine, it’s me. I’m the all-powerful witch. And, okay, maybe my story isn’t a classic fairy tale. Not unless I missed the part about Little Red delivering comic books and munchies in her basket and Beauty sleeping off two-for-one margarita night. But I do have a soul mate—my very own Charming.
Except he’s no prince. He’s a level-headed, by the book, insanely sexy detective.
And me?
Well, I’m Stoned.
Warning: Not recommended for readers under the age of 18 thanks to a dirty talking hero, a filthy-minded heroine, and the hot magicks they create. This story starts where Styx leaves off, so although it is a new couple, it is HIGHLY(pun totally intended) recommended they be read in order.

Every single time I think Layla Frost can’t do any better or surprise me as a reader..
t should be noted that Stoned is the second book of The Four Series and you should definitely read Styx to know what is going on.
From a super unique and original plot to the amazing characterization, Stoned surpassed whatever I had in mind. This couple just may be my favorite so far. Juno & Stellan are characters that will stay with you long after you read. They complete each other in every way possible. Two complete different personalities and characters come together and form a perfect whole. I absolutely loved this couple.
I EFFING ADORED JUNO!! She was simply everything! She had such a complex character I can’t even begin to tell describe it. She was witty, brilliant, funny and crazy in the best way possible. I absolutely loved her sass! As always Layla Frost’s impressive heroines remain flawless. The hero just as equally awes the reader. Stellan and his possessiveness and dirty talk will have you simply hooked.
Despite the story ending in a cliffhanger , just as the Styx did, it didn’t take anything away from the story for me. I was beyond satisfied and will definitely be reading the next ones! Layla Frost delivered a perfect blend of everything you could hope to find in a book.
4-4.25 stars. This book was really good! Stoned is book two in the paranormal romance series, The Four. Stoned is Juno’s story. We met Juno in Styx, as she is a witch who helped Denny and Nate and befriended them. When bad things keep happening to Juno, including her store being blown up, she meets hot cop Stellan. They are drawn to each other and have immediate chemistry. He wants to protect her and together they work to figure out what magic is at play that wants to harm Juno.
I really enjoyed Stoned! This book started with a bang. I liked that it was faced paced and exciting. I adored both Juno and Stellan. Juno was bada$$ as she was one of the strongest witches in the world, but she was also fun and sweet. I loved Stellan too. He was strong, protective and he was smitten with Juno. Stellan was perfect and alpha in the best way. They were a really great, powerful couple with amazing chemistry and connection. I like the way the world building has developed and I wasn’t confused on what was going on at all. I also enjoyed the side characters and catching back up with Denny and Nate. This book had humor, heat, excitement and magic!
Overall, this was a great read! I am enjoying this series so much and I can’t wait for more from Ms. Frost!
I have to start off by saying how much I absolutely adored Juno and Stellan and their story. I seriously loved Juno so much, she fascinated me in Styx and to finally get her story I was ecstatic! She is the type of person I would love to have as a friend, she is loyal to a fault, a whole lotta kooky, feisty, she can take care of herself, and so so so hilarious! The things that came out of her mouth had me laughing out loud so many times. And what can I say about Stellan but swoon-worthy! I have a love of law enforcement officers in my romance novels, they have that protective instinct, but Stellan is so much more than that. He is oh so sexy, possessive and that dirty talk is hot!!! He is perfect for her and I loved his reaction when all was revealed to him.
This series has a lot to do with soulmates and my heart goes all melty when people are in search of their other half and then they find them. Juno knows early on who her soulmate is, but due to some wonkiness, she doesn’t trust it and tries to keep Stellan away. This definitely does not last too long. Their interactions are cute, hilarious and sexy! I freaking loved it all.
Like Juno, I too get a bit stabby with cliffhangers, but this one I was okay with. Juno and Stellan are together so that is all that matter to me. Don’t get me wrong I am chomping at the bit to know what will finally happen with their mission and to find out the stories of the remaining siblings.
Another excellent book in The Four series. Everyone just has to get it!
So I had this entire in depth review written and then when I went to save it….*poof* Gone. Frustrating, but here is all you need to know about my feelings about this book. I. LOVED. IT. As other reviewers have mentioned, STYX really needs to be read first to fully appreciate STONED.
Layla Frost has yet to write a book that I don’t adore and re-read multiple times because she has an absolute gift for writing great heroines and heroes that you just wished with every fiber of your being were real. Honestly, though, her heroines are my favorite. Juno, the heroine in STONED, is classic Layla Frost – smart, quirky, funny (so so SO funny!), I-wanna-be-her-BFF, fierce – while in addition to being a badass powerhouse witch. All while keeping her from being annoying or a caricature. Stellan, the hero, is everything I want in a hero – protective, sexy AF (do the kids still use that?) possessive, completely and blindingly enamored with his heroine. Considering all the differences between the two of them (human/non human, black&white/every rainbow shade, etc.), Stellan’s stoicism and groundedness is a perfect balance for Juno’s controlled chaos.
The story was well paced, interesting and had the right balance between relationship building and plot development which is impressive as this is book 2 of a series with an over-arching story. I find that a lot of interconnected series, one is sacrificed at the expense of the other. The growth of the relationship between Juno and Stellan also felt organic, which is amazing since poor Stellan had to contend with the existence of an entire paranormal world. Did I mention that this is only her second foray into PNR? As in the prior book, the handling of the PNR aspects of the book had a really unique spin on archetypes that most of us are familiar with and that I especially loved.
In short; read this book. Hell, read all her books. I did receive a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but I plan on buying a copy also because I need Layla Frost to keep writing. In particular, I need her to write the next freakin book in the series…like NOW.
This is the 2nd installment in this series. I would have to say you need to read these books in order to get the maximum understanding of the story.
Juno is a strong and sassy witch…and she is used to being a rather powerful witch. In fact, it is what she identifies with most., so when she meets Detective Stellan and her powers go “poof” imagine how confusing after centuries it must be?
Juno is written as a modern, quirky, lovable heroine that takes care of everyone she knows….and when she meets her “one” in Stellan, she fights someone taking care of her for a change. She comes with every excuse she can to try and ignore the intense attraction.
But this poses the question: What if there is that “one” out there? What if you are supposed to have a greater purpose, but also your reward in the perfect mate to complete you as well?
Stellan is a perfect protective officer who has been married to his job and not even thought about a relationship. He helps Juno…who is feeling fine…with an incident, and his possessive protective Alphaness comes barreling out of nowhere.
I love that there is fantastic chemistry, and that there are issues between the characters, but not ones that you would usually encounter.
The writing is smart and fresh. The characters are relatable and realistic. You also get to see more of Nate and Denny…and get what I would consider a Happy for Now Ending. You feel good about where Juno and Stellan end up, but the overall story continues.
5 out of 5 for me!
I have been sitting here, staring at my computer, willing the words to write this review and nothing. It’s been hours, folks. But I’ve gotta start somewhere, even though I’m certain my words will not do Juno’s story justice. You see, this book pushed some boundaries for me. When it comes to books, I’m pretty open minded. However, I know what tropes I like, I know what my few triggers are, and all that jazz. But when a one-click author comes out with a series that is not one of your top anythings, you read it anyways. And then everything you’ve so careful categorized as a “favorite” goes flying out the window.
Story Line: Juno is one of the “Four”. What am I talking about? Go read Styx- which is Book 1 in this series – and get back to me. Anywho, the one bit of info I will give you is that each of these 4 individuals will find their soul’s other half and just “know”. Okay, when I put it that way it sounds lame, but it’s beautiful and inspiring and if you don’t feel the same way, we can’t be friends. Moving on. Who is Juno’s leading man? Oh just a cop. (Cop’s as the hero is one of my favorites – so hot!) However, back to me and my stupid boundaries. I don’t really like nor read supernatural stuff. Like ever. I tried it a few times, my brain was all “let’s be logical” and I couldn’t do it. HOWEVER, with that being said, Layla’s first book in this series got me to open my eyeballs to a whole other class of paranormal type romance. How does this tie into Juno? Well all of the “Four” have supernatural qualities. Juno’s powers basically make her a witch. I’m also not a fan of witches. However, this story made me Juno’s biggest fan. I may go dye my hair blue and pink after this. Who knows. Bottom line when it comes to the story line? Things hit the fan, I cried more than one time, there’s a happily ever after and then there’s the WHAT THE EFF at the end. Good stuff right?
Interaction: Stellan is a hot shot cop. Juno is a business owner whose business just got targeted. Hence their paths cross. And oh mama, when Juno’s eyes land on mr hot pants? I adore her inner monologue so freaking much. She’s sweet, sassy and strong all rolled into one gorgeous person. Their attraction is inevitable. I mean, you heard what I said about just “knowing” right? Their souls recognize each other and it’s brilliant. I loved their chemistry even more than Denny and Nate, which I truly did not think would be possible. Juno and Stellan’s connection is just so REAL. Everything about them was described in such detail, I swore it was my relationship being described instead of fictional characters.
Laundry: Oh Layla, woman you are my hero. You write the BEST laundry. I mean, seriously. I want Stellan all for myself. I’m pretty sure Juno can beat me to a pulp with just a flick of the finger, so I’m not actually serious. But MAN these two are so freaking hot. I love their foreplay. Heck, I love their heated looks they give one another. I mean, everything EVERYTHING about these two is FIRE.
Depth: The Four’s story line is so intricate and complex that I was afraid I would forget some of it or not retain enough from Styx to Stoned. Clearly I don’t have enough faith. Layla does an incredible job of creating this story so vividly descriptive. It’s impossible not to be totally and whole heartedly invested in each and every character. I felt like I went to heaven and hell right along side these characters. If I didn’t love this author so much already, I would be so mad at her for a certain part of this book which had me crying big fat ugly crocodile tears. But at the end of the day, even the sad parts were written with such grace and compassion, that even me – the queen grudge holder – can’t be mad any longer. Stoned was perfect. It’s everything you wanted from Juno’s story – and so much more.
Juno is wild and beautiful. She is very powerful and is the first to kick ass and take names. When she finally meets her “other half” she doesn’t expect it to be the straight-laced, sexy as sin detective staring at her. Will he want her and all her wildness? And what happens when he finds out who she really is?
WOW! WOW! WOW! I am utterly blown away by this book! I am so addicted to this series and Juno and Stellan’s story did not disappoint! My emotions went on one heck of a rollercoaster ride. Juno cracks me with her crazy antics and her obsession with food. I fell in love with these two instantly! I hung on every word. I am so excited to see what is still to come in this amazing series! 6 stars!!
Layla Frost is swiftly becoming a go to author for me when I need smoking hot romance that makes me laugh. Stoned was everything that I hoped for and more. Juno is smart and talented, so much so that they should be her middle names. What really got me though, was the vulnerability underneath that got to me. Stellan is everything hot and I loved how he accepts her for the awesome chick she is. The two of them together is perfection, they are complete. You see it in every moment once they meet, the connection between them. Stoned was so funny that I didn’t see a moment coming that caused me to cry. I devoured this book and loved every moment with these characters. Please do yourself a favor and read Styx first or you will be terribly lost and missing out on the awesomeness that is Denny and Nate. Stoned is amazing and deserves 6 stars!
I seriously feel like Olaf with my “oh, I love it even MORE now” feelings about this series (blame motherhood for the Disney reference there). Juno and Stellan are absolutely fabulous and are the perfect mates for each other. The Four series continues with their story…and it’s a doozy.
Juno and her brother, Nate, are now united and are trying to find the other two important members of The Four, but Juno needs to figure out her own fate and soulmate-predicament first. She can’t help how she’s drawn to Stellan, but she’s pretty sure he doesn’t feel the same way toward her for a while. Luckily, she’s dead wrong in her interpretation of his feelings, and he proves his love in a few big ways throughout the story. Stellan proves to be far more accepting of their fate and the truth that brings him and Juno together, and is willing to go toe-to-toe with Heaven and Hell to prove it. Of course, we have some misunderstanding and humor and drama thrown in to keep this all interesting, which only meant that I absolutely couldn’t put my iPad down. I just HAD to keep reading to see what (or who) came next. Trust me, you’ll feel the same way.
This story does end in a cliffhanger, BUT you should already know that from Denny and Nate’s story. And if you don’t, make a leap of faith and go back to the beginning so everything is clear. Now, I must practice the art of patience while I wait to see who comes next and how their story unfolds.
Stoned is book two in The Four series by Layla Frost. I fell in love with the first book in this series, Styx, which was Denny and Nate’s story. In it we met Juno, the crazy witch who became Denny’s friend and tried to help her. I have been so looking forward to her story and it did not disappoint. This book was fun, sexy, and yes, suspenseful.
Juno Keres owns several stores merged together that she calls Novel Idea. But she is no ordinary store owner. She is a powerful witch. She is also one of “The Four,” Nate’s sister in a sense. The evil group, Absolve, is getting stronger, their quest for power growing. It is the job of “The Four” to defeat them. Except two of their brothers are still missing.
Each of The Four were promised that when the time was right, they would be rewarded with their mate, the person that holds the other half of their soul. Nate had found his in the first book. When Juno’s stores are brutally vandalized and the police are called, she meets Detective Stellan Reddick and one touch and she knows, he’s the one, her other half. Except it seems that perhaps he doesn’t feel the same way! And he is her opposite. Where she is a fun loving witch, he seems like he is a by the book, buttoned up, officer of the law. Yet he wakes her lady parts up in a way she has never experienced before.
Stellan was pretty much married to his job. His last relationship had been three years ago and she gave up on him. So why was it that after one look at the pixie like store owner, he couldn’t think straight. He couldn’t get her off his mind. Her case was baffling, and things just weren’t adding up. But it wasn’t the case he was thinking about, it was her!
Things continue to go wrong for Juno, her powers are going all wonky. And it seems like someone is out to get her, or Stellan, since it always seems to happen when they are together. She is convinced she is putting Stellan in danger but he is convinced that it is his fault. They both feel like it would probably be the right thing to do to walk away. Yet neither are able to let go of what is building between them.
Once Stellan finally gives in to what he is feeling towards Juno, wow does he let go! He is all possessive and growly and jealous and oh so hot! He is one dirty talking, bad boy, police detective!
“I’d take a naughty pixie over an angel any day.”
Juno knows exactly who Stellan is to her. But as far as he knows, she’s just as human as he is. She has to tell him the truth about who and what she is. And about their mate bond. Will he still want her when he knows the truth? Or will he run for the hills?
This really was fun, sexy, and kept me on the edge of my seat. I struggled a bit picking up the thread of the previous book. I do recommend reading them in order. Even though each book is about a different couple, the story line is ongoing and just a warning, we are left hanging just a bit! So I hope Layla Frost is fast at work on the next book because I need to know what comes next.
This author is an Amazing storyteller and her heroines are so awesome!! Juno was amazing.
Love her humor and sarcasm and wit. She had me grinning and laughing a lot.
Stellan..the dirty mouth protective and possessive detective. He was perfect for Juno.
It’s recommended to read Styx (The Four book 1) first before reading Stoned because even though it’s about a different couple it’s a continuation.
This book was so good! I couldn’t put it down.I wanted to read it very slowly because I didn’t want it to end. Now to wait for the next book.
I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!
This author’s humor kills me every time. I find her books fun to read and I always end up adoring her heroines. Stoned is another one to add to my list. I would suggest reading book one first. While this is based off a different couple, the overall story is continued. Plus you get to meet Juno and all her awesomeness in the first book as well.
The reason I think Juno is so awesome is because she’s funny and quirky but also very fierce. Don’t mess with anyone she cares about or she’ll go all mama bear on your hinny. And how cute is it that Stellan called her his pixie?
Oh Stellan, how I wish I could call you mine. Picture a hot, slightly older man (in Juno’s eyes) who goes all intense and growly. Uh, yes please. One order of hot cop coming right up! He fought it a teeny, tiny bit but it didn’t’ take long for Stellan to realize he had no chance where Juno was concerned. That man was so gone for her it’ll make you jealous.
I’ve mentioned this is fun, but I’ll also say it’s a pretty safe read. There is some violence due to the nature of the overall plot, but no outside interference to our couple’s relationship. This is a paranormal series. I won’t speak too much of that in case you haven’t read book one where you learn all the deets. Bring on book 3!
Layla Frost, is it too early to profess my love for this book crack series that you wrote? Too early? Buehler? So many stars, this series is so addicting, from the characters to the storyline…total book crack. Huge Layla Frost fan and when she decided to write this genre, which is my kryptonite, just put me write over into crazy, happy fan.
Juno aka War aka Pixie is my favorite horseman, with her ott funny af sarcastic and wild personality, it’s hard not to adore her. And she finally meets the calm to her storm aka Stellen, in this book, the smoldering hot detective from book 1. This book picks right up from Styx and we get more of the characters and storyline that snagged us from book 1. Even though Juno knows Stellen is her mate, she tries to fight it…that last about a hot second. He tries to fight it too, but as you all know, you can’t fight fate….ever. In this book, they are still trying to find the other 2 brothers, fight Absolve and she finds out more about what happened to her in their last battle with Absolve.
This was a safe read, no om or ow drama. Older woman, younger man…and I mean she’s about a thousand, but looking about 23. A funny af ott sarcastic, wild, but adorable heroine and the calm to her storm mate Stellen. Great ongoing storyline, great secondary/supporting characters, especially her funny af besties. Get your series book crack right here….next book please. I know, I know, subtle like a Mack truck.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
You have to read Styx before even jumping into Stoned. Stoned pretty much starts where Styx left off but with Juno instead of Nate and Denny. While standing in the middle of her now destroyed shop, Juno’s soul recognizes its other half when Detective Reddick walks in. Stellan is just a regular human, who has no clue that other things exist in this world, but he is about to get a crash course and fast. Things are heating up fast, and they have to figure out how to win this war that is coming.
HOLY BATMAN! So, I said it with my review for Styx that this is not my normal trope, I love all things romance but fantasy (other than a few vampires, shifters, and a dragon or two) isn’t really my thing. BUT I’m thinking Layla Frost can write the phone book and make you gaga over it! This played like a movie in my head, it was freaking perfect and left me ready for the next part. Drama, danger, naughty bits that were so HOT I needed the proverbial smoke after, this gets 5 stars but needs more!
I was taken completely by surprise when I started reading this series. I’m not a huge reader of PNR and so didn’t know what to expect. I enjoyed book one, Styx, but I absolutely loved Stoned. I will admit to being a little confused at the beginning and had to refer back to book one to get my bearings. I appreciate that Stoned picks up where Styx left off, but a little catch up at the beginning I think would have helped. In keeping with the overall theme of the book, in my head I was imagining this in a sort of tv voice-over “Previously on …” kind of way! The whole storyline is so fabulously unique in its retelling of a certain ancient tale, that once I got into the swing of things again, I couldn’t put it down.
Oh Juno, how I loved her. Her strength of character, her quirkinesses, her foul mouth and witty one liners had me in stitches. I wish her “nerdtastic” stores existed on my local high street. With books and comics (sometimes of the special variety – I’ll leave you to discover those for yourself!), coffee and board games, not to mention cotton candy served by the hysterically self titled “prematurely expired”, I’d never want to leave. I also really enjoyed the insight into Juno’s history, told in such a way that enhanced, rather than interrupted, the flow of the story and made her even more endearing, if that were possible. Fantastically steamy moments and alpha growliness are provided courtesy of the wonderfully named detective Stellan Reddick, from whom Juno is keeping one heck of a big secret (or two).
As well as all the fun and magicks, there’s some mystery and suspense going on, together with a smidge of danger, and an important quest, which is really the whole premise of the series. Although each book concentrates on a different couple/character, they are interconnected and the story arc continues from the previous book. Because of this, I would recommend you read them in order.
This series is my first read of anything by this author and I love her writing style, her inventive storyline and her humour. My advice would be to throw all your preconceived and stereotypical ideas of witches, and of angels and devils out of the window, suspend your disbelief and dive right in. I did and I loved it.
5 Cotton Candy flavors
This book is a whirlwind! From action and adventure, to romance and true emotion, I couldn’t get enough.
Juno is my spirit animal and I want to be her best friend. Stellan is the cherry on top of a double fudge sundae with the works. Together their chemistry could melt the world.
I loved the roller coaster of this book and can’t wait to read the next installment of the series!
This book was…
I LOVED EVERY FLGHAHGRT
Layla Frost is…
Write, re-write. Write, re-write. That’s how this review has been going for me. It’s only when I’m just about to go to bed that I think of the perfect words to explain Stoned. Of course, by the time I wake up and sit down ready to write the magical words I’d thought of the night before, it’s like I don’t even know how to English.
I’ve been supremely struggling with words for this. Normally, I do a pretty OK job with them. I mean, I’m not special and English is the only language I know, so I should be able to string together words and write a review that does some sort of justice for this book, this series.
But since I’m apparently English-Deficient, wordy-intolerant if you please, I’m going to do my best… (and since I’m crazy obsessed with all things Nightmare Before Christmas, I 100% said “I’m going to do my best” in Oogie Boogie’s voice. Out Loud.)
Stoned is the continuation of the crazy fantastic The Four series. It’s the second in the hysterical, gut wrenching, original, sassy new take on The Four Horseman Apocalypse tale. It’s filled with steamy sex scenes, prematurely expired ghosts, troubling realizations about fate and our destiny, and an OTT alpha cop to top it all off.
It’s a paranormal romance, bringing the extra-ness of this to the extreme. Between seeing someone and just knowing down to your bones you’re supposed to be with someone, hiding some extraordinary truths, and angels and the devil playing a major role in Juno’s life, falling for the sexy cop who could arrest her for something she had no part in, is not part of the plan.
The calm to her rage, the protective to her wild, Stellan is thrust into a world he didn’t even know existed. Jealousy, possessiveness, thrown into the mix, emotions he’d never felt before, bubble up and over. He’s forced to navigate a world he couldn’t’ have ever imagined. Instead of running for the woods, he embraces it and Juno.
Like with Styx I can’t really discuss too much of the plot without giving away the meat of this story. I guess it could be read as a standalone, since it’s a different couple, but you would understand Juno and the plot-line more by reading Styx first. And then, you can suffer with me when you read the last line and see it’s a FREAKING CLIFFHANGER YOU EVIL EVIL WOMAN.
War comes in all shapes and sizes
It’s kind of hard to take Death and War seriously when I’m completely distracted by cotton candy, porno comics and hot cops. I guess you could say that Layla Frost brings comedic elements to the end of the world. Not that Layla’s not taking the end of the world seriously, it’s just that it’s hard to take it all as doom and gloom when you’re chuckling or distracted by candy, porno and hot cops. Stoned takes us back to the candy store where one slightly stoned witch comes face to face with evil. This witch is NOT that upset with facing evil because low and behold, evil brings out her Prince Charming…who happen to know she’s stoned AND happens to be the love of her life.
I like to go into my reads without preparation. You know, slide into the scene without knowing who, what, where and how. Well, this led to a few problems for me. Even with some slight prompting in the storyline at the beginning, I couldn’t remember where we had left things. Then, I decided to re-read my review and see if that helped. Unfortunately, even with a supposedly spoilery review, it was a bloody USELESS spoiler and my review was no help to me at all. I literally had to read Stoned and get the *AHA, now I remember…* moments as they came. Woe is me.
So, within a few chapters, I’m back on track and know where things are heading. Juno is a witch with attitude, brightly coloured hair, and an addiction to coffee and candy. She comes across as a little wacky and totally lovable. The people closest to her, she will protect with her life. When her shop is vandalised and a drive-by-shooting puts her loved ones in danger and leaves everything in tatters, it makes her ANGRY. She may look like a cute little pixie but get on her wrong side and she’ll blow your head up with a blink of her eyes. With her abilities, she is a protector. When Stellan, the sexy detective, comes into her life, it’s going to be a battle as to who will step in front of the bullet first.
Stellan can’t believe the mad little Pixie keeps jumping in front of stray bullets. The fact that he thinks the bullets are aimed at him because of his career, makes it even harder to watch her jump in front of him. But, there’s something different about this woman who is in his thoughts 24/7. There is an EXTREME attraction. So extreme, one thought of her will make him instantly hard and desperate for her touch. No other woman has affected him this way. Nothing will stop him from being with her…and trying to protect her.
Four instead of five stars because the front-end of the story left me a little frustrated. It took me too long to get up to speed with what happened in the previous instalment. When I read these kinds on series, I’m always disappointed that we’re not treated to a –
In the previous instalment…
I don’t want everything retold, just enough to trigger my memories so I’m not distracted from what is going on now. I need to be fully immersed in who, where and what’s new. I also struggle a little with how long it takes for the hero and heroine to be on the same page. When they do get there, they are so there, it’s almost too much. I felt like I was scrambling to catch up from lusty lust thoughts to I LOVE YOU!! It was HOT mind you, just seemed to hit mushy gushy feeling a bit quickly.
Stoned was funny, quirky and HOT!! Seriously, seriously HOT HOT HOT!!! If you want to make it an even hotter experience, google the Japanese word Juno uses when the young guy comes into the store. Then, after checking it out [BLUSHING!!], head back to the story and keep reading. Oh My Lordy…I’m blushing again just thinking about it. Feeling…HOT HOT HOT!!!
Holy Shamoly, Layla Frost really knows how to torture her readers. I have SOOOO many unanswered questions. Sure, she gives us a happy for now, but she also leaves us desperate for more.
I really like this series and I highly recommend giving it a go.
I loved everything about this story! Filled with humor, some mystery, plenty of uncertainty regarding Juno’s magicks abilities, and enough steam to burn your fingerprints off where you’re holding your ereader, it was one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in a long while.
The meeting between Juno and Stellan was perfectly imperfect and led to so many mixed feelings within both of them. It set me up for a fun read as I watched them both struggle with what they were feeling and then yielding to it.
Juno was so sassy and feisty. With her dirty thoughts and endless humor, she pulled me in from the very beginning. I loved getting a peek at her in the before time as well as the other Four. I usually get bored with a characters inner musings but that was never the case here. I loved how she thought, planned and reacted. I especially loved how she was perfect for Stellan.
Stellan is the type of hero I absolutely adore! He wants her from the very beginning but puts up a bit of a fight that doesn’t last long. And then he’s ready to do whatever it takes to make her his. With his jealous, possessive tendencies rising at a single thought of another man with her and his protective instincts thrown into overdrive, he won a spot on “my favorite kind of hero” shelf.
There was never a doubt that these two were designed to be together but getting Juno to the place of trusting herself to open that door was a wonderful thing to experience. In addition to all this couple’s goodness, we have past characters that helped to move the story forward as well as a few twists that I never saw coming. Oh, and let’s not forget the sadistic tendencies this author has…she left this on a freaking cliffhanger! You’re definitely going to need to read book 1 of the series before this, but it’s just as wonderful so it won’t be a hardship. And now to wait on the next installment…sigh.
I love Juno! She’s quirky, badass, and hilarious. I loved her character as soon as it was introduced in Styx and was super excited for her book. Layla did not disappoint. Lots of suspense with lots of humor added in. And Stellan is a dirty talking hottie. While this is a standalone couple, I highly suggest reading Styx first to understand the back story. Can’t wait for book 3!
