Charlie Tate doesn’t live by the rules.
Ethan Stone is bound by them.
When Charlie returns home after five years away, she has only one thing on her mind – revenge.
When she enlists the help of Ethan, a private investigator, she has him challenging many of his rules. And Charlie begins to look at him as she has never been able to look at any other man.
Both damaged by the past, can one teach … can one teach the other about the power of forgiveness?
A story of coming home.
A story of overcoming.
**Stone Rules can be read as a standalone novel. It can also be read as the 4th book in the Mitchell Sisters series or the 1st book in the Stone Brothers series.

Ethan and Charlie…..The mystery after her mom’s funeral. She was glad she was gone but she was not sorry for her thoughts. Her mother used her in so many ways. From a young age she couldn’t do anything. Charlie would get her revenge on those 12 men. Until Ethan Stone took her case as PI. Charlie had no way of knowing this man could give her so many first. But the biggest was falling in love. Ethan’s last name Stone but so was the walls he erected around his heart, but this fireball busted them down. They both will know real love.
This book entails Charlie and Ethan. Charlie’s mother was a washed out actress who used her daughter to get her drugs. Warning: may trigger- child abuse- rape: Charlie is called back home from living overseas with her best friend Piper Mitchell because her mother has died and she needs to tend to the details. Charlie hires Ethan who is a very hot PI to help her locate a list of men she has. Wont ruin the story for you but in the end Charlie and Ethan fall for each other. I definitely recommend this series.
Vengeance is not always sweet
Be warned, this book’s heroine, Charlie, has been subject to an abusive past which is detailed in the book. She escaped her parents years ago and learned to get by on her looks. Now she is back in town and out for revenge. Ethan Stone is the private investigator she meets in her quest. Ethan lives by a set of rules, the first of which is to not get involved with clients. Thus begins the struggle as each is drawn to the other. Will Ethan’s ethics, or Charlie’s willpower win out in the end? And, what will she learn about her family’s past?
This book is so hot and steamy with Charlie and Ethan. Their chemistry is off the charts! But the love story is what will take up all of your heart in just seconds.
Charlie’s story is horrible, tragic, and unfortunately not a fantasy for many. Ms. Christy does an incredible job of writing about Charlie’s past abusive encounters with sensitivity and honesty while not overwhelming the reader too much with the graphic ugliness of the reality it can be.
She not only touches on topics that are so important to talk about and bring light to, She also tactfully touches on sensitive, tragic, and difficult realities that can happen to anybody on any day.
There is so much to the story and journey in this book, it felt like just this one book could be a three part book series all about Ethan and Charlie. I was sad when we got to the end and there weren’t any more pages to turn.
This book is fantastic! It was so much fun to still get to interact with the Mitchell sisters.
I can’t wait for Stone Promises.
I loved this emotional story and the engaging characters and once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. This is the first book that I have read by this author and now, I want to read all her books.
Two damaged people manage to find romance and love in spite of their painful pasts, and make new rules to guide them into a bright future. A very enjoyable read.
Love this author and her characters!! Love the chemistry between these two. I was so glad that Charlie got her own book after meeting her in Black Roses.
Stone Rules is the second Samantha Christy read for me and honestly now I’ve finished this I just want to gobble up all the rest in the series and more. I will definitely be reading more of Samantha Christy’s work.
I loved Stone Rules. This book was full of twist and turns and so damn hot!.
Stone Rules was like a book of two halves, the push and pull, Ethan trying to remain professional as he investigates something for Charlie, she’s persistent but keeps getting knock backs but later in the plot it’s like Ethan has a Hallelujah moment and the transformation in Ethan when he finally gives in to the feelings he has for Charlie is so swoon-worthy.
Both have a heartbreaking or hurtful past, both have healing they still need to go through and you could say Charlie and Ethan help each other face that healing together, its a book about timing, finding the right person at the right time, forgetting the past and entering a new relationship that leads to forever love.
A great book filled with everything I love in a contemporary romance, angst, hotness, a good plot, characters that grow on you and have you rooting for them and a hea for two people who deserved to find it.
I listened to this in audio and it was brilliantly narrated.
Very deep and emotional
From the beginning of this story I found myself on the edge of my seat not wanting to put it down. I didn’t even get my sleep before work because I just had to know what was going to happen.
I loved the way that Charlie and Ethan kept fighting their feelings for each other, so afraid of the past to want to look into their future. You get wrapped up in their stories that you cannot help but cry and cry through a few of the chapters. There will also be times you will laugh.
You will truly enjoy this first Stone Brothers installment.
Until Next Time… Tabi
Okay…didn’t get very far on this one as Charlie was way way too oversexed, wanting sex and I don’t know what to say. Did not like this at all and DNF. So that tells me the other two in this series are probably going to be the same.
1 Star and that’s being nice.
You would think growing up with a beautiful mother and money as a young child would be any child’s dream. After her mothers death, Charlie is faced with a whole different reality. She likes sleeping with men, and sometimes not her choice. How did she end up being a women with a past that her mother helped to create. She realizes that there are many men in her life that she wants to confront and hires a PI to help her find them. She hires Ethan Stone to find them and somehow a man with rules becomes the only man to help her figure out her life. I enjoyed this book and found it was very entertaining.
I really loved Samantha Christy’s Mitchell Sisters series, so I was super excited when I saw that she had written Charlie’s story. Thankfully, it didn’t disappoint! And the icing on the cake? It introduces a whole new series with the Stone Brothers- yay!!
Charlie’s story had fascinated me since meeting her in Black Roses. And Ethan Stone complemented her perfectly- a match made in heaven!
I highly recommend! Although you do not have to read the Mitchell Sisters first, I would suggest it for the background (the Mitchell’s show up quite a bit).
I found all three books to be engaging with each one unique in its perspective.
