I’m speechless,without words…I think the
author broke me
Honestly, even though it’s super dark
It will pull you right in and make you
want to keep reading just to see if anyone
makes it out alive..or ends up being even
more of a living, breathing, broken human
than what they were before. Can wait to
see what’s in store for them in “Severed”..
Drake and Caia; captor and captive; they are both tortured souls with dark pasts.
This book is highly dark and intense. You get glimpses of everything sinful. Depravity, debauchery, dark, malevolent, and so much more.
This two take you on a whirlwind of emotions and feelings. Can these two make it out alive?
Such a twisted read – I loved every minute of it! It kept me up far too late reading, which is the sign of an excellent book. Highly recommend for lovers of dark romance with suspenseful elements.
If you’re looking for a DARK romance this book is the right choise….. it’s dark and perverse and i loved each words
“Stolen” The prequel by Dani Rene
The curtains are drawn back on the Savage family and what happens on the other side is so depraved and sinister you will find you are rooted to the spot unable to look away or escape. In their world pain and deviance is not only normal, it is what is expected and more importantly what is required.
Drake Savage is broken. His father has made sure of it. He has endured torture beyond what most would be able to withstand and survive all in the name of being “trained” to follow in the footsteps of the “family business”. Conditioned to find pleasure in the pain and suffering of others and kept in check with the threat of harm to his twin brother and best friend he finds himself without a choice to become a monster. Caia Amoretto has been stolen. Just eighteen and innocent, she is ripped from the world she knows and plunged into darkness. She has no idea what horrors are in store for her at the hands of the Patriarch of the Savage clan. Her only hope is that Drake has a sliver of decency left in him , and saves before it is too late.
There is a disclaimer at the start of the book warning of the dark subject matter- if you do not heed it be warned the subject matter is very dark indeed. This book starts off strong, pulling the reader in immediately. There is an overall sense of the tug of war between hope and dread which only grows stronger as the story unfolds. The theme of suffering be it physical, emotional or mental was palpable throughout. The feeling of helplessness of being without choice to stop what was happening or even the willpower to stop the enjoyment from that is heavy in the air for the entirety of the book. The plot has several twists and turns making it move at a breakneck pace toward the end. However, I wanted more backstory for Caia and Drake. I was completely surprised at the mention of a sister because there was nothing to tether it to the storyline. When did she disappear? What effect did that have on her sibling? The storyline hints at the history that has brought Drake to this point, but I found I wanted to know so much more in that regard. I am hoping that will be addressed in the next book! Overall, this was a good read and I would certainly recommend it to others.
If you are a reader that enjoys a dark intense read, then Stolen The Prequel is for you.
Wow! I believe this is the darkest book I have ever read, and I have read a lot of them. His is very dark, very sadistic, and intense! Don’t read this book if you have any triggers. I think I may need to read something with hearts and flowers now, lol.

Evil men and evil deeds and the people that pay for it. What a start to a dark romance. Not for the faint of heart! A Savage family with savage intentions have Caia. She’s stolen but there’s more at play than just a simple abduction. Lots of mystery with Caia’s family and the Savage family in this prequel that has a glimmer of humanity in Derek’s feelings for his captive. Such a tease for the next installment with lots of questions and a simmering connection between Derek and Caia. But can Derek overcome his brutal father and save Caia for himself? Who is River and is Dante really that evil? This author creates amazing characters along with dark, enthralling storytelling that will kept you turning the pages. There maybe a few cringes along the way but the romance is everything. Can’t wait for Severed! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
3.5 stars
This is my first book from the author and I have to admit that this one is a really good introduction to her work! I’m pretty much into dark romances a lot lately, so this one was a nice addition!
“Stolen” is the start of Drake and Caia’s story. Since this is a prequel, it pretty much gives us the back story to what “Severed” will be all about. I really enjoyed it but I wanted to find out more. There are so many things going on and so many secrets that are yet to be unveiled!
Some of the characters are into some really dark things, so be warned! I read some things, that I haven’t before to be honest. What happened in the last chapter left me confused and feeling that everything happened so fast that I needed to read the paragraph again!
This book is very promising and I can’t wait to see how everything is going to be in “Severed”!
The first thing I have to say about this is I HAD to give this book 5 stars just due to how out of bounds it took me. I have read some dark romance stories. But this prequel does not have anything to do with romance, it is purely a dark themed story that takes you into the start of these characters beginning.
I don’t want to give anything away about this story. I want you to go in as blind as I did. Trust me you want to be blindsided with this story. It makes it all the more of a jewel out there. Just know that this is an extreme 18+ ONLY reader book. It is dark, dirty, disturbing in some places, and just makes me want to read the next book even more!
Wow Super Dark!!!!!
A bit more darker then i am used to but liked it a lot
This is only the Prequel and damn is it dark, intense nail biting and definitely page turning that I wanted more. Drake has been in the nightmare forever. But Drake won’t stop protecting people he cares about. Caia kidnapped by the devil living a nightmare but is trying to remain strong. I can’t wait to read the next book! If you love dark romance definitely read this! 5/5 stars
This prequel is amazing. The writing, the story and the characters all went above and beyond my expectations. Looking forward to more!
I voluntarily read this as an advanced readers copy
Dani René took this story and dove straight into the nightmare that is Caia and Drake’s lives.
This book captivated and spoke to the darkest partd of my mind, drawing me in until I was fully immersed in the story.
Powerful, deadly and soul destroying, I still can’t wrap my head around it. Vivid imagery, which gives an intensely gritty and raw quality that can’t be matched.
Stolen by Dani René is book 0.5 in The Taken Series. This starts the story of Caia and Drake which will continue into the first book named ‘Severed’. Caia was taken into the ‘Devil’s lair’ where they try to do everything to her and break her. Drake has been a part of the Devil’s lair so things are not new to him.
This book is the prequel that sets up the series and their story. It is a very dark romance so this may not be for everyone…for me it was a page turner. I can’t wait for the next book!!
Stolen was a dark introduction to a new sinister series by Dani Rene, about a girl stolen and trained to be the perfect sex slave to be sold to the highest bidder.
Caia won’t be broken and Drake wants to steal her innocence.
It’s brutal, it’s gruesome, it’s immoral, it’s wrong, and it’s definitely not a love story.
Dani Rene gave us a taste for the evil that lies ahead with this prequel. Severed is the next book and I can’t wait to see how dark this author is planning to go with this series.

~~4 SICK AND SAVAGE STARS! ~~
“They all plead for their lives. Each one of them wants to go free, wants to be saved by the knight in shining armor. Sadly, I’m not him. I’m the beast that will devour them piece by piece.”
Holy Moly! STOLEN: THE PREQUEL by Dani René, a short prelude to her full-length novel, SEVERED, is quite possibly one of the most DISTURBING, CHILLINGLY TWISTED dark erotic thrillers I have ever read. This is my first read by this uniquely talented author but most definitely will not be my last!
EEEK! Venom and evil and pure unapologetic sadism drips from each and every page. And brace yourself because this mind f*ck of a book sure throws you into the lion’s den from the start! There is no slow, gentle build, or soft place to fall with this prequel. This fast paced, action packed, nail biter is a very raw and gritty and at times unbearably gory start to a series that had me cringing like crazy and sure steamrolled all my hard limits.
Yet I couldn’t stop reading!
There’s something….dare I say, titillating…about this dark, toxic journey that’s laced with unflinching brutality, pain and pathos, and an abundance of wicked wantonness that both REPELS and INTOXICATES.
Though their circumstances are drastically different, in many ways Drake and Caia are both prisoners, trapped in a diabolical world of hate and violence and debauchery that is SHUDDER-INDUCING! Drake Savage is ensnared in his demonic father’s ruthless, malevolent lair, whereas Celia, a pure, innocent virgin, was stolen and held captive in that dreadful Dungeon, tortured and defiled day and night, in preparation for the ultimate test of endurance to see if she is deemed worthy of the horrific fate that awaits her.
My heart broke and shattered for both of them.
That said, Drake certainly lives up to his scary surname—he has been conditioned by his dastardly daddy to be a sick, unfeeling monster. However, he never expected that Caia, one of his father’s “pretty stolen toys,” would inflame his most sordid, deviant desires and stir glimmers of humanity in his black, repugnant soul. His father may have claimed her but even as Drake relishes preying on the sweet, feisty prisoner, a part of him secretly covets her for himself!
“She’s everything. Her beauty is my tranquility.”
Ultimately, Drake and Caia are tortured, lost souls, perhaps even kindred spirts, who share a hopeless despair and explosive, visceral connection that defies all reason. But is what they are feeling the stirrings of love or just a refuge from the horrors they endure and bear witness to on a daily basis?
Honestly, I have no clue! But I will say this, although Drake is NO savior, as the story unfolds, he wants to be the one to save this beautifully broken yet stunningly resilient “little bird” from the Devil himself. And that catapults them both in even graver peril.
And after that harrowing cliffy, I cannot even fathom what Dani René has in store for this twisted duo next, but I do know with 100% certainty that SEVERED is guaranteed to keep us awake, binge reading, long into the night!
BOTTOM LINE:
STOLEN: The Prequel is not for the faint of heart but one which left me gasping for breath and desperate for more!
Holy hell. This book was definitely dark. I had to stop a few times just to catch my breath and it was difficult to read at times. That being said it was also brilliant and the fact that I could literally see the images in my head of what was happening proves how well written it was. I will be reading the next book even if I do need to wait to catch my breath after this one. This book is exactly why oli love reading so much. It might make me uncomfortable at times but the ability for an author to make me feel this way is true writing genius
STOLEN IS A NO GO FOR ME. MY SKIN IS NOT THICK ENOUGH TO FINISH THIS BOOK. SORRY BUT NO, NOPE, NADA, , NO CAN DO. BE WARNED.
I’ll start by saying that I know this book was jam packed with all sorts of warnings about how dark Stolen, by Dani Rene’ is. Having said that, I have a warning of my own…….. Buyer beware……If you like gory horror in your stories then you have come to the right place. If not, PASS on this book and seek life elsewhere.
I apologize in advance if I offend anyone with this review because that was never my intention. But it is my review and my opinion.
Now, I love dark romance and was happy to have received an advanced reader copy. Not to mention eager to start reading this prequel. Well, eager no more! No, nope, nada, NO CAN DO!!!!!
I’m not a lightweight when it comes to dark romance. Not by any stretch of the imagination. But, I had to DNF at 50% and I hate doing that and rarely ever do. Although the writing by this author was excellent, the content turned my stomach. But that’s just me.
Maybe had I kept on reading, things would be different. But, ummmmm, hell no!!! This book lost me at stuffing hearts into mouths and beheadings. To me this book is what nightmares are made of. It was just too sick and twisted for my liking. I’m simply not into snuff and stuff.
Again, I know there were plenty of warning and I’m usually thick skinned enough to read some really dark material, but this was too over the top for even me.
So, if you have a REALLY thick skin, the more power to you and happy reading. Me? I need to cleanse my mind so I’m going to go look at pictures of babies, puppies and unicorn and then go hug my daughter.
Holy Mother of Pearl!!! I was not expecting this level of dark from this author. While this is my first read of Rene’s, I was under the perception that she wrote steamy, stimulating books. Boy was I wrong. While there is some erotism within, this book is definitely hits high on the depraved scale.
If this is a premonition to what is to come in Severed, then sign me up as I will be one clicking the release faster than you can say “Take Me To Hell”!
Total destruction. Total darkness. Totally DELISH! This story is not for pansy-assed readers. You people ARE NOT ready for this type of dark play. So don’t be that dick that says “I didn’t know it was so dark” and “not my cup of tea” after reading all the warnings as to the content and the storyline subject.
The only critique I have is that I would have like to see more detail on the depraved scenes. My moral is ‘Go Big or Go Home’. I live for those unscrupulous, unethical details to feed my darkened soul. Overall this little prequel has stolen my interest and indulged my proclivity for wickedness!
This prequel is a whirlwind from start to finish. I need to catch my breath. It is a gritty, violent and dark read right from the get-go. It is not for everyone and will have triggers.
Dani Rene has started of this series with a BANG! It is downright explosive and sets the scene and the bar for her upcoming books in this series.
The cliff-hanger ending can only be called cruel because I’m now desperate to continue this series!
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
