5 a-secret-for-a-secret stars!!!
Good God almighty!! This book! What a brilliant, intense read!! So thrilling, dark, cruel and, yet, so insanely beautiful.
“The difference between me and him: those who were born with the right to have, and those with the right to want.”
Story Hale is a servant in the Crowne household. She’s been invisible, going about her work, for years. Then one stolen moment and a shocking secret changes her life, and then she’s suddenly making a bargain with the devil.
“There’s a need. A possession. Growing inside me like a weed. I didn’t like them touching her. I don’t like anyone even looking at her.”
Grayson Crowne, notorious tabloid playboy, makes a mistake that might cost him his heart’s desire. There’s no way he’s going to let a lowly servant make a fool of him, even if he can’t get the taste and feel of her out of his mind. So he’s going to make her pay. However, what starts out as an almost win-win-for-him agreement, slowly becomes an obsession. This daring girl spears him with her beauty and her honesty.
“You’re starting to take up too much space inside me. I don’t think there’s any other way to get you out.”
God, Grayson Crowne! I hated him, I loved him, he made my heart bleed and my knees weak. His alpha ways and his possessiveness thrilled me. I almost felt sorry for him, caught up between a woman he’s always loved and a woman who’s wedged under his skin. The final scenes in the book totally broke me.
Story is just such an immensely strong and candid character. Gray and the emotions he evoked in her became her weakness. She soldiered on in the face of cruelty and judgement. My heart broke for her, too!
“The more I touched Story, the deeper she sank. She was ink in the water of my soul, spreading, changing the color and make of me.”
I had a massive book hangover after reading this story. One moment I was hopeful and the next I was despairing. I felt wrung out emotionally bouncing back and forth between Gray’s coldness and cruelty, and then his heart-melting thoughtfulness and complex vulnerability. Sometimes, it felt like he had no control over himself. He knew what he should and needed to do, but, where Story was concerned, there was an irresistible compulsion to own, possess, and protect her. It was an absolutely thrilling, absorbing read.
IT’S HERE!!!!!!!! I’m so excited for everyone to read this book. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I can honestly say that this book rivals Bully by Penelope Douglas for my top 1 spot in the bully romance trope. It’s filled with so much angst, but all the sweet tender moments will pull at your heartstrings. There truly is no way to read this book without finishing it and being unscathed, I suggest you proceed with caution. I will say that Mary Catherine Gebhard does provide A LOT of foreshadowing, but the heart wants what it wants.
Grayson – OH MY GAWD!!!!! I didn’t think it was possible to both hate and love someone at the same time, but Gebhard manages to pull these feeling out of me. Throughout the entirety of the book we get to see Gray’s internal battles with himself. Even while he was doing horrendous things, I couldn’t help but root for him. He is a jerk, but in the most delicious way.
Story – I loved Story. She’s now one of my favorite heroines. At first I thought she was going to be just another meek character, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that she does have a lot of backbone. After reading her story, I could completely understand why she is and why she does the things that she does. I admire the strength she has in tough situations.
My heart couldn’t help but break for these two. I felt so badly about the things that they both had to endure. I think that many of their problems stem from the fact that they both harbor these beliefs about themselves that they think they have to uphold. I wish that I could give both of these characters a hug and tell them it’s alright.
Mary Catherine Gebhard has managed to create a unique storyline with some of the most interesting and complex character I have ever read. Nothing in this book is cliché and you should always expect the unexpected because nothing is as it seems.
Stolen Soulmate by Mary Catherine is book Two in the Crowne Point Series. This is the story of Grayson Crowne and Story Hale. For me this was a standalone book as I have not yet read the previous book. Grayson is a hard to like hero at first with the total possessive, alpha who has a broken past which makes his heart almost ice. But with each encounter he has with Story it seem to chip away from his ice heart. This is a world wind book that takes you through so much in emotion, at least for me. I like the Dark Hero that you hate one minutes then love another.
I hope to read more books from this series and of course this author.
Star-crossed lovers that tempted fate. She was the unworthy servant. He was practically royalty. He was her cruel employer hidden behind the mask he crafted. This story is angsty overload and will shred your heart. A love that was forbidden, becomes all-consuming.
Story was never supposed to be in that room with Grayson. A case of mistaken identity changes the course of their lives completely.
The Crowne family builds connections. They are wealthy beyond your imagination. They control everything. A marriage is just another way to cement their status.
Grayson has loved Charlotte du Lac his entire life. She was always meant to be his future, until the servant girl unintentionally stole his heart.
And so a complicated struggle begins. Grayson is more than the public sees. He hides behind the walls he built to protect himself from the predators surrounding him. Story sees him. The lowly servant girl knows more than anyone else who is part of his life. Slowly she becomes the obsession he can’t live without.
The Crowne family does not take kindly to those who try and derail their plans. Bribery and manipulation are par for the course. A Crowne’s future is decided by the family long before the heart gets a say.
Get swept up in this intense and angst-filled love story. Heartache and loss will just about break you. Story is honest and a breath of fresh air in a world of fake facades and deceit. Grayson is more than he wants people to see, but he holds the responsibility of the future on his shoulders. Their connection and heat is why we believe in fairy tales. I was utterly consumed with their struggle and their love. The author took me on a journey I did not expect and she stole my heart.
Jesus. I have no words. Nothing that can adequately describe how my poor heart feels. I felt everything these characters were feeling. My heart raced, my chest ached, and my eyes cried big ugly tears. This book is every angst lover’s dream. It had me hooked from the start and still hasn’t let me go. The thoughts and feelings, it’s so much, too much. I am completely and utterly wrecked.
Gray is one of those heroes that I hated as much as I loved. He was complex, callous and cold. But underneath that cruel façade was a decent and selfless man. One who always put his family first. And Story? I loved her. She was strong, brave and resilient. She was so full of heart and truly his perfect match. But their relationship is put to the test when he must follow through with his familial obligations.
Stolen Soulmate has it all, steamy hot moments, angsty goodness, a sexy alphahole, a strong heroine and a flipping unique and terrific plot. There was never a dull moment. I was completely captivated the whole way through. Gebhard has a way of building these imaginary worlds that just suck you in. You can picture everything so clearly, it’s like living in the book. This story is the best. I absolutely loved it and hope that you give it a chance. 5 stars and more for Gray, Story and Stolen Soulmate!
“My love story began when it ended. With a savage kiss and a confession whispered in the dark that wasn’t meant for me.”
I am not okay. I’m speechless. My chest physically ACHES.
Mary.. I have no words. I can’t.. WHAT THE HECK HAVE YOU DONE TO ME.
Before diving into Stolen Soulmate, you need to do something. Whatever assumptions or predictions you have about this story, throw them out the window. They won’t even come CLOSE to matching the heart breaking, soul crunching, hair pulling words that exist in this book.
95% of this book had me clawing my eyes out. I didn’t want to read what was happening BUT I COULDN’T STOP. What have you done to me MARYYYYY?!
“All my pets died. Will you survive?”
Grayson Crowne is one of the most complicated characters I think I’ve ever read. He is so cruel and unforgiving. He simply does not care. Or does he?
“Maybe I’ve been hiding so long I’m starting to disappear.”
Story. All I want to say about her is she needs a hug.. or two.
This story will break your heart, break your kindle, and break your soul. Buckle up because YOU ARE NOT READ FOR GRAYSON CROWNE.
Stolen Soulmate
Mary Gebhard did a really outstanding job with this novel. I couldn’t keep my eyes away from the novel for more than a few seconds at a time, it was a truly amazing read. It left me feeling emotional over Story and Grayson. I am sad that Grayson had what he wanted— needed in Story, but when his possessiveness would come out I would end up feel sympathy towards Story. Their love is tragic but overall I hope their relationship can heal and get better come the next book.
***5 “More… & Why you???” stars***
“My love story began when it ended. With a savage kiss and a confession whispered in the dark that wasn’t meant for me.”
Mary Catherine Gebhard just forced me to walk upon this earth with a tattered heart…
Why did you do that to me??? To every one of us???
This book was a slowly death, a field full of intense emotions, with angst to be the star in its most pure form…
As i was witnessing the heroes struggles, my heart and soul was fighting a lost battle…
Why??? Why??? Why did you do this to me????
And how am i supposed to live without knowing???
“I’d always read that soul mates were beautiful, pretty things. They fixed you, made you whole. But that doesn’t make sense to me. Souls are ugly, twisted and dark.
It makes sense when you finally found yours, the torture is equal to what lurks inside.”
God, this was my first book of this author and of course, i’m beating myself for not reading Heartless Hero before, but i will fix it soon enough… That i can promise!!!
Honestly, i wasn’t expecting to love this story so much… To enjoy it i was pretty sure, but that it would touch my soul so deeply, it was unexpected…
This was a beautiful story that had broken my heart in million pieces, and can the author find a way to glue the broken pieces back in one???
“Grayson Crowne is the harmless crush you know you can never have. It doesn’t matter if he’s wrong for you in every way, because he’s unobtainable. Rock stars, book boyfriends, and movie villains all fall into the same category.
So what happens when the unobtainable becomes in reach?
How do you deal with that?”
Is it possible to find your soulmate in the wrongest place??? Under strange circumstances and with a person that you couldn’t never imagine???
I think that it is possible and this story proved that to us…
Fate has making her own plans and we just follow her lead….
That happened to Grayson Crowne…
He was so sure for his soulmate, but an intruder had stolen their fate and she took her place….
That person was Story…
“This moment didn’t belong to me, but I was going to steal it anyway.”
“If you tell anyone…”
“Even if I tell, no one will believe me.”
An unexpected mistake brought Grayson and Story in each other’s path…
He was the cruel, untouchable prince and she was just a servant…
He got mad for stealing of him his fate and he decided to torture the poor girl…
But that forced intimacy brought true, unexpected feelings between them…
But can a prince and a servant be together when the prince is carrying the weight of the whole world upon his shoulders???
“It was like she’d been made for me, and someone switched up the shipping labels.”
“Each time he showed me a scrap of affection something inside me grew. Something bad. Something that shouldn’t be.”
Honestly, i can’t say more to you about this story…
Grayson wasn’t like everyone was expecting him to be…
And Story was more that the eye could meet…
Together they built something great and unique…
They could understand each other’s souls and together they could be something beautiful…
Only if they were other people….
Only if there weren’t so big obstacles standing between them…
Will Grayson and Story will defy the odds and earn their happily ever after????
“You’re born to be seen, and because of that, you hide your heart. I was born to be forgotten, and because of that, I wear my heart on my sleeve. I don’t think it’s working out so well for either of us.”
“No matter how many friends or family or just people surround us, we all have that thing we can’t tell somebody, a jagged shard of glass cutting our soul. You know?…
So we bleed silently. Alone. But… if you’re lucky, you might find someone who has a similar piece of glass to your own. So then you don’t bleed alone. That’s what’s so addicting about loneliness. The hope against everything that maybe one day you won’t be alone…’
“Have you found someone, Snitch?”…
“Are you bleeding, Grayson?”
Well… I loved Grayson and Story very much!!!!
They were perfect for each other and i was wishing for a miracle to happen for them… They deserved to be together… They deserved to have the world on their feet…
Grayson wasn’t the man that he was appearing to be, even though many times, he let his cruel side to get out and play with Story…
But deep inside, his heart was made of gold, but unfortunately, in his world, he had to protect his heart and he had built big fences full of thorns…
“Story was heroin, pure and simple. A traitorous high not to be trusted. A black sludge I would rip out of my veins no matter the cost.”
“An Atlas carrying a world of expectations and responsibilities. A lonely prince who pretends he doesn’t cares so much he’s isolated.
I see the only person who sees me back.”
Story was a lovely girl who had hidden herself under ugly clothes in a way to protect herself and to not draw the wrong attention…
Unfortunately, her wish didn’t grant. She catched the eye of the most unexpected man and her traitorous heart was refusing to back down…
Her noisy side and loud mouth brought her trouble, but great pleasure as well…
She managed to succeed the impossible… To earn Grayson’s heart! But for how long???
“Piece by piece I hid parts of myself. Hide my body. Hide my soul. Hide. Because they can’t take what they can’t find.”
“Grayson Crowne is the cruelest person in the world, and I’m hopelessly in love with him, but his love only bloomed in the dark.”
These two had so many obstacles standing in their way…
Obstacles that were very hard to overcome.
What will happen after all???
“You have the biggest heart of anyone I know, so why do you keep acting like you don’t?”
“Because everyone I’ve ever known just wants to rip it out…. Until you.”
“With you, I don’t have to lie. You see me. I can’t lose that. I can’t lose you.”
“You’re the only person with whom I’ve ever had to lie.”
“What?… Why? Why are you lying?”
“Because from that very first moment we kissed, I knew if I didn’t watch out, you could destroy me.”
Can i tell you a secret??? Honestly, i can not understand this mighty family!!!
And i hated many behaviors that had to do with its members…
Also, why the hell in the modern world, everything seemed so oldfashioned??? Yep, the atmosphere was a little bit mysterious, it seemed like they were living in another time and that fact confused me for a while in the beginning…
Overall, i can wait for the next book!!! And i want it to come very soon.
Do you hear me Mary Catherine???
“The only thing wrong with Crowne Hall are the Crownes. We are like ghosts to you, but you? You are monsters to us. We tiptoe around you and pray we never wake you.”
***I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review***
So I’m still not even sure where to start with this review, so how about I start with what I’ve been shouting for 24 hours now? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? Mary Catherine Gebhard is leaving emotional wreckage everywhere she goes. She has mastered the art of emotional wrecking. She has crushed my heart and left me feeling so many things I don’t even know what they are all.
Grayson Crowne, heir to the Crowne fortune, the playboy without a heart. Story Hale the boring, nun-like lady for Abigail Crowne. Two poeple brought together by an accidental, stolen kiss. Can one kiss really change your life forever? Can one kiss seal your fate? Is a stolen love strong enough to last or will it be stolen back?
Grayson Crowne is the exemplifcation of a bully. He’s mean without cause. He’s ruthless and heartless. Grayson Crowne is also the perfect example of a coward. He’s the Crowne in charge but somehow afraid to to what he wants, and does what is expected. Story Hale is the girl nextdoor, if you lived next to a convent. She blends into the background never wanting the attention, and not believing she deserves it. However, she is fierce, and loyal and amazing.
I cannot example how well-written Stolen Soulmate is, Mary Catherine Gebhard has created this brokenly, beautiful story that has left me feeling emoitonaly drained. She was able to make me feel everything. She did a phenomenal job at putting us in Story’s shoes. My heart was and is breaking right along with her. It may have been a mistake that brought Grayson and Story together but it didn’t stop her from seeing what’s below the surface.
Stolen Soulmates is a book about two broken people who end up in love and broken a little more. The push, and pull of their relationship had me on the edge of my seat needing more. The servant and the heir destined to leave two different lives until fate steps in. But then reality comes crashing back in and say they can’t be Gray and Story.
I’m rambling and really it’s because I’m just feeling so many damn emotions right now I don’t know what to write. But Stolen Soulmates will be a top read of 2020 for many of us!
And let’s talk about that ending? Mary Catherine Gebhard what have you done?
I’m pretty sure that Grayson Crowne and Mary Catherine Gebhard have just ruined my life. My heart hurts. Like it physically hearts. It’s bruised and I have no words.
This is my favourite MCG book to date! I didn’t think I would love any one more than Theo and Abigail but I drowned in Story and Gray’s journey. It left me breathless, it made me so angry and it made my heart break.
Grayson Crowne, that guy just killed me. He was an ass, he wore a mask but when you saw those glimpses of his vulnerable side, god that hurt. It hurt like hell.
Bravo MCG, for your beautiful writing, original plot and blasting my heart into a million pieces.
If you love angst, enemies to lovers, hot as hell sexual tension and bombs that will shred you to pieces that you never saw coming then read Stolen Soulmate.
This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and let me tell you I was not disappointed and neither will you be, go and read this book as soon as it becomes available its captivating and it deserves every single one of its stars and then some.
Stolen Soulmate is book 2 in the series of Crowne Point Universe
Book #1Heartless Hero
Book #2 Stolen Soulmate
Grayson is a very powerful, possessive, sometimes cruel man. He doesn’t trust anyone and never lets anyone in but there is this very much a soft side to him that no one sees that he saves only for her Story. Grayson takes her as his own.
Story is the help to Grayson shes the maid. Story wasn’t allowed to look him in the eye but for some reason she did and then she hears something that wasn’t meant for her ears. Then bang everything changes. But deep down she is a beautiful strong woman who has an immense amount of strength. Story seems like she is the only that isn’t afraid to stand up to him this is a total love/ hate thing going on.
( NO SPOLIERS )
This book completely hooks you in right from the off and I couldn’t put it down I read it so fast that I had it stop my life so I could see what was going to happen. It is an absolutely fabulous read and I cant recommend this book enough.
Be ready because this story will have your emotions all over the place its completely heart wrenching, it breaks your heart the way the story plays out and its a total emotional roller coaster.
This book really breaks your heart in two, its a very raw, very intense read and with the twists, turns and shocks that you will not see coming. Awesome.
This book is absolutely beautifully written.
This book will stay with you for a long time not just in your mind but your heart to and when an author can write so powerful it literally affects your heart I take my hat of to her. I will be recommending this book to everyone when it gets released its fantastic.
I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.
Thank you to the author and to the publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for n honest review.
This book is expected to be released on 27 th February 2020.
Overall Rating – +
It may only be February, but this book may take the top book of 2020 for me! I’ve just finished it, my minds racing, my heart is thumping and I’m cursing Mary like nothing else for what she put me through.
Story has been one of the house servants for year’s and is suddenly catapulted into Grayson’s orbit when he pulls her into a room and savagely kisses her, mistaken her for someone else. In the quiet darkness of the room, they share secrets, until Grayson realises what a mistake he made and orders Story to his side, making her his servant now.
Grayson and Story’s journey is one that will grip you. It’s bully romance taken up a notch with the cruel and vindictive words and actions of Grayson. Throw Lottie, his intended fiancée into the mix and the agony and pain will rip you apart.
Although Gray is cruel, he’s a hero that will sweep you away. I loved him and hated him, but he loves honestly with all his heart, and he definitely has a special place in mine, even when he broke it!
There is so much in this book constantly keeping you as the reader on tenterhooks just waiting for what’s to come and the angst is unreal! Although the book is utterly amazing, at around 80%, things really get taken up a notch and will play on your heart like nothing else. I cannot recommend this book enough. You 100% NEED it!
Mary – you owned me with your words and I don’t remember the last time a book brought up so many emotions in me that I’m sure I’ll be thinking about for days to come! You killed it!
ARC received for an honest review – thank you

I. Was. NOT. Prepared. For. This. Book!!!!!!!
I am not ok. This book shredded my heart page after page. Gray and Story are everything. Everything good, dark and 50 shades of f’ed up.
This is not a fairytale and it is certainly not for the faint of heart. This book consumed me. It sucked me in and spit me out. I need a break. Yet I need more. More grief, more hope, more love, more angst just more Story and Gray.
I honestly did not know what I was walking into and I both love and hate this book in equal measure. I’m so pissed yet I can’t help but love it because it did exactly what a book is supposed to do. It caused emotions—-lots of different emotions! Caused you to think and feel.
Another best read in 2020 and it’s just February. The authors I love to read just keep writing stories that are better than the one before it.
Stolen Soulmate isn’t exactly what I expect it to be. In some ways, it’s more and in some less. A servant is attempting to make up for a mistake, and Grayson treats her like the dirt beneath his feet, but it doesn’t end there. No, that is only the beginning for these two.
Honestly, I’m still trying to decide what I thought about this book. There were times when I got frustrated and wanted Story to be stronger and less of a pushover. Grayson was a jerk, and while there were times when he dropped his facade, it was not enough to make me not want to slap him. Now, this is where it gets complicated. I can’t really say I liked these characters or this story, but it stuck with me, and I found myself turning page after page, anticipating the end. And once again, I’m not fully satisfied, but at the same time, I’m blown away. This is book two, and you don’t have to read book one to read this, but after this one, I’m looking forward to book three and reading the first book in the series. See what I mean? I’m still trying to decide. I’m going to give this one 3.5 stars and recommend you one click and decide for yourself what you think.
I haven’t taken so much time reading a novel for a long while, but I felt I needed time to take in every deep emotion, the intense highs that thrill and give hope and the heart breaking lows that pulled us back down again. It’s a brilliant story full of wonder and joy, then pain that spun my head in every direction, forever guessing the next move in the book.
Stolen Soulmate was an incredible read, I loved every minute of it. The Crowne’s are definitely an interesting family and there’s plenty more to come.
I highly recommend this book!
Stolen Soulmate has definitely made my top reads of 2020! This book— specifically Grayson Crowne— ruined me for any upcoming antihero. While you hate to love Gray, there is something about him that makes you hope for redemption and as much a HEA a Crowne heir can achieve. The mystery and perpetual heartbreak surrounding servant-class Story Hale has you hoping she’ll catch even the smallest break in a life that’s foundation balances precariously on torment and cruel lies. Add a love triangle whose sides will never be equal and you have a plot that keeps you turning pages until you reach the shocking end. Grab this book as fast as you can and settle in for one wildly intriguing ride!
If you like your soulmate story with a touch of torture, a side of bully and a heaping pile of angst, this story will charm the pants off of your black little heart.
I consumed this book in one sitting, sacrificing a few hours’ sleep for what is one of the most WTF intense stories I’ve read… ever. I couldn’t stop. Parts were like a train wreck; the disaster is coming but you just. can’t. stop. looking.
I’m unreasonably impatient for the next – I was not anticipating where this one left off and my poor heart is still recovering!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
There’s a rule in Crowne Hall: never look a Crowne in the eyes. It protects us more than them. I broke it once, the night Grayson Crowne mistook me from his true love and stole my first kiss. I’ve regretted it every day since. He hates me. He torments me. He won’t let me go, because that night he whispered a secret against my lips not meant for me. Grayson Crowne, heir to the Crowne empire and notorious playboy prince is….a virgin. I signed a contract in my heart’s blood as much as ink: help him get back his love, repair what I broke. Give him my body , my soul, my heart, let him use all of me, so when the times comes to marry her, he won’t need me. I shouldn’t need him But he’s my stolen soulmate, and I’m at his mercy.
If you are looking for a hero who is a huge jerk then you have found the right book. Grayson fits that bill to a tee. However he is a very likable jerk. I also thought this book kind of ripped your heart right out of your chest and never gives it back. I devoured this book actually. I was so engrossed in the story I didn’t want to stop reading. I fell like a lot of people will love this book and the characters. So go ahead and give it a chance. You won’t regret it.
3.5 stars
Grayson Crowne is elite. You don’t make eye contact unless you are on his level. Story Hale, a servant in the Crowne household, makes that mistake. A case of mistaken identity puts Story right in the middle of Grayson’s sight.
Trying to make things right for Grayson puts Story’s heart at risk. Grayson treats her like a dog, sometimes like poop on the bottom of his shoe and story just takes it. (This is part of my issue with the story). But there are snippets where Grayson lets Story in, he reveals bits of himself that he heavily guards. (These parts are the ones that make me love the story).
But an arranged marriage means that Story and Grayson were doomed from the beginning. The ending just about broke me and it ends on a cliff hanger of sorts.
This is another book that the blurb gave a different vibe than the actual story. Parts I abhorred and then other parts melted my heart. Regardless, once I started it, I couldn’t put it down and I am interested how this story will wrap up – if Story will get justice and/or HEA.
My heart hurts. I am not okay. Grayson has messed me up completely.
Mary Catherine is a damn GENIUS!! This book will have you sitting on the edge through the Whole Damn Thing! Seriously my heart ached through most of this book. The chills that MC gave me reading this book is amazing!!
It’s taken me at-least 24 hours to write this review due to my heart.
The love/hate relationship that Gray and Story have is unexplainable. Everything about them from page one is just ughhh. I love Story and how she is open/closed off. She is open with her eyes. And Gray tries soooo hard to hide behind everything that it hurts him to know that he has feelings for story. The way he hates her is so unnerving but the way he loves her makes up for everything. Story keeps her secrets buried and makes you want to dig through her mind. But her strength is unmeasurable. Everything she endures. Would break a normal person.
But the end . I can’t people. I just can’t. I cannot function right now. Like my heart is crying! MC what have you done to me!!!
