I really enjoyed this book, Mikky Dos Santos is a unique character, tattooed, prone to impulsive and sometimes self-destructive actions and riddled with self-doubts, but also loyal and with good intentions.
This book is mainly set on the island of Rhodes, where Mikky attempts to track down a jewish scroll that has gone missing.
I really liked that I was never quite sure who was on Mikky’s side, and who was against her, this aspect certainly kept me turning the pages, and the climax was really thrilling, and then there is the twist on the final page to bring the book to a great ending.
I received a review copy of the book, and have voluntarily written this honest review.
After an opening tragedy in Turkey Mikky dos Santos decides to go to Greece to look for and return a stolen 900 year old Torah. The first half of the book feels like a wonderful vacation for Mikky and myself as I enjoy the waters of the Greek Islands. I lounge on the yacht and enjoy the party, the restaurants and the company but Mikky feels something is off and it is. The second half of the book kicks into high gear as she put two and two together with Nikos. She fears for her life without knowing whom to trust. The suspense is high as is the danger, and where is the torah, who has it? I really liked Ms. Pywells third book in the series with Mikky dos Santos, kick ass, high strung heroine.
Ms. Pywells’ characters are connected throughout the series but each book contains a new adventure. If you follow Ms Pywell or if this is your first read you will really enjoy this book.
* I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest and freely given review.*
I love this series. I learn so much about the history and the culture regarding the item in each book. The title of each book so far tells you what type of culture item is involved. Yes I can be slow at times, just kind of got it.
I love that Mikky thinks she is maturing in this book and she says so herself, since I think the the same. The book is not as intense as Golden Icon was for me, due to the character growth done is this book. However it is still a phenomenal read. it is still fast moving and did not want to put it down.
I have an idea where the growth of Mikky is going to take her, but do not want to influence the the author or you in case it does not go where I think it will. I cannot wait for the next one and one after that in this series as a result. I really want to see where she goes. Mikky may have other ideas.
This might be book 3 in the series but I really recommend reading the first one, Golden Icon. It will help with the characters and past references. The book can be read as a standalone but you will miss the character growth and development in the story. Also why there are characters popping up and you are wondering why or what their importance is.
