As an Air Force medic, Bree Marks saw the worst the War on Terror had to dish out. Now a physical therapist, she uses her experience to help other veterans heal from their physical wounds; while she battles her own emotional damage.Blaming himself for his best friend’s suicide, former Army Ranger Jase Larken, retreated from life. To honor his best friend’s memory and assuage his guilt, he started … he started an outdoor adventure company to help veterans with PTSD.
Bree had better things to do than catch her cheating fiance in bed with another woman. Jase is something better – for a night at least. For the first time in years, Jase wanted more. When he finds her again, he doesn’t give her another chance to run.
Jase’s protectiveness grates on Bree’s independent nature. She’s dealt with her fair share of alpha-male, door kickers and doesn’t need one telling her what to do now. But as a new danger emerges, Bree and Jase must face their pasts, before someone’s obsession with Bree destroys any chance they have of a future.
Can be read as a stand alone. No cliffhangers within the story.

Great story
Liked this one. Strong female character. Loved the guy in this one. An element of suspense made it interesting. Both leads had flaws which was good.
Fun read ~ a few twists and turns.
The thing that intrigued me about this book is how it focuses on people of both sexes who have been in combat and the scars they carry forward from that. They are reluctant to mingle and share themselves, but that is part of healing. the women in this story are strong!
This was a real heart breaker story. This is the first time I’ve read anything from this author. You hear so much about the men and their PTSD, not so much about the women. Then there’s someone killing women and living notes for Bree. There is a lot of action, sadness, flashbacks and support dogs. Really loved this story.
This book had it all…romance, steam, heartbreak, and a shout out to veterans. Loved the story and the characters.
My first book by this author, what a cut little short story. I really enjoyed the fast read, Brianna and Jase were such a cute couple, and the little older couple only added to the story. I look forward to reading more book’s by this author.
Good book
Wow! Stitched Up Heart is my first book by Tarina Deaton but it won’t be my last. Ms. Deaton has delivered a well-written book loaded with phenomenal characters. Kudos to Ms. Deaton on her character interaction and dialog…it was perfect. Bree is a veteran and now a physical therapist. After finding her fiance in her bed with another woman, Bree and her best friend went out for drinks, where she met Jase. Jase owns V.E.T. Adventures and is also a veteran. When dead women start being found with notes to Bree with them things get a little crazy. I totally loved every page of this book and can’t wait to read more from this new to me author. Stitched Up Heart is book 1 of the Combat Hearts Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Pleasantly surprised by this book. There is a plethora of steam, but there is also a story line. The characters are believable, they come back from service trying to fit in and deal with their personal demons. Although, the book title is questionable. Good read.
I loved this book. It’s easy to see that the author writes from experience in the military as her characters’ reactions (especially those with PTSD) is spot on. I loved the inclusion of therapy dogs and the way that the romantic lead is damaged and recognizes the damage in his love interest, and is willing to fight their demons together. Also, he’s a proper romantic lead, not the sorry excuse that passes for alpha male hero in many stories these days – he respects the boundaries of his woman and that’s rare.
I loved this book. I could not put it down…. Entertainment and emotion on many levels. Thumbs way up….
Enjoyed this book
I liked this book especially the ending.
Pretty darn good! The cover picture is random though.
I love wounded warrior stories and this one is a two-for because the hero and heroine both had their own issues. Very good read.
I cried for the characters and what they went through. Wonderful story!!!!
Loved reading this book read it in one reading couldn’t put it down can’t wait to read next one
I really enjoyed the story. Wish I could afford to read the rest of the series.
Wonderful story, so sad that so many of our military go through this.
