I don’t want him.
I can’t do this.
That’s what my ex said after our son was born, leaving me a single dad.
These days, my world consists of two things: Noah and my bar.
Until her—the woman I want —but can never have.
My ex’s sister wasn’t supposed to be stirred into the mix.
Even though I try to push her away, my son falls in love with her.
As much as I want to keep my distance, I can’t break … love with her.
As much as I want to keep my distance, I can’t break his heart.
Lines become blurred, and fighting our attraction becomes nearly impossible.
Even though we know it’s wrong, desire doesn’t always fade away.
As soon as we cross that line, nothing will be the same and everything will fall apart.
And it does.

Stirred is the first book in the Twisted Fox Series, a Single Dad Romance. The characters are great, and the storyline is original, and interesting. Jamie is lovely, supportive, and strong. Cohen, a single Dad, is handsome, and caring. His son Noah is cute. Heather, Jamies’s sister and Noah’s mother, is a despicable character. I like how this story ends. Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas did great job with the narration. I love their voices together. I am looking forward to listen to the next book in the series, Shaken.
Stirred
Twisted Fox, Book 1
By: Charity Ferrell
Narrated by: Lacy Laurel, Gregory Salinas
Fall in love with a single dad, an adorable son and a second chance at happiness for him! Charity Ferrell has a written Stirred, a wonderful story that captured my heart. Cohen was left with a newborn son, Noah, when his girlfriend decided she didn’t want to be a mother. Now in the emergency room, he bumps into her sister, Jamie and now life as they know it is about to change. Building relationships and family, finding your way to your own happiness and understanding life as it is meant to be all come full circle. Cohen is an amazing dad, very protective and knows his own heart. Jamie is loving, and has great instincts but is conflicted. And Noah steals the show with his fun and enthusiasm. It’s heartwarming, and addicting, investing my heart in their happiness.
Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas narrate the story to perfection. I love this team! Laurel is amazing as Jamie. She is the perfect mix of confident and insecure, trying to find herself. We could feel her love and her conflict. Salinas nails Cohen. The over protective dad and loving boyfriend, he brings us all the feels and makes us fall for him. Their voices complement each other and give an entertaining performance.

Loved it! I’ve volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading one of Charity Ferrell books. Stirred is the first book in the Twisted Fox series. This is Jamie and Cohen’s story. This was an emotional story filled with hope and so much love. Cohen is a single dad and Jamie a doctor. Jamie is also the sister of Cohen’s ex. This is a emotional and at times a touch stressful second chance at love. It’s a MUST HAVE!!!! I’m definitely going back and reading more from this author. I highly recommend this one. Keep up the great work.
sweet and chaotic!!
“Looks like it’s just you and me against the world, buddy.”
I’ve been waiting for Cohen’s book! There’s nothing sexier than a single father who has his sh!t together!! Add in a little forbidden romance and I’m a goner!! Jamie and Cohen have major chemistry!! I read this book in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down!!
“If anyone is off limits, it’s her.”
Jamie is the little sister of Cohen’s ex. She’s all grown up now and chased her dreams of being a doctor. So what do you do when you accidentally run into the nephew you’ve never met? You plead for a truce with his hot as sin father.
“My heart beats for my son, and I’ll stop anyone from hurting him.”
Cohen has a heart of gold, IF you are in his inner circle. Problem is, he doesn’t open that circle. EVER. (Everyone can thank his sh!tty ex for that.) His top priority is always Noah. *swoons* Letting Jamie back in shouldn’t be a problem, until it is. Will she hold up her end of the deal? Will her conscience get in the way breaking both their hearts??
Stirred is a fantastic Single Dad romance, it’s been a while since I’ve read one this good! Definitely falls right there under Ferrell’s Just one Night. I loved so much about this book! Ferrell is one of my favorite authors! She always gives a powerful, emotional read that leaves an everlasting mark on your heart! Stirred was a steamy one that was laugh-out-loud funny and full of sexual tension. We got a teaser of these characters in one on Ferrell’s other book series, Blue Beech book #5, I highly recommend this series. Anywho the teaser we get of these characters had me! Cohen and Jamie are Everything!!! Their situation is absolutely messy, as far as family and emotions go, you just know heartache is coming! I loved the history between Jamie and Cohen, it really makes you fall hard and ship these two! I swear to everything out there I could have throat punched Heather, like really Biotch! GTFA! AHHH! The angst is real and rough! Noah was the cutest and their group of friends was the best! I’m super excited for what is to come with the rest of this series, I just know I’m going to love it! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adore this author, and between that blurb and this gorgeous cover, I definitely couldn’t wait to get my hands on this beauty!
Cohen is a single dad to an adorable five year old boy, Noah. Cohen was betrayed in the absolute worst and heartbreaking way by his ex, and has spent the past years dedicated to his son. He is such an amazing father, and seeing Cohen’s bond with Noah melted my heart! However, his would is forever changed when during a hospital visit, Cohen comes face to face with the last person he ever expected to see.
Jamie is Heathers (Cohen’s ex girlfriends) sister. She has loved Cohen from afar during the entire time he was dating her sister, and never once agreed with all the horrible things she has done to this man. So when Noah is admitted into the hospital she works at (Jamie is a badass ER doctor!!) She can’t just walk away from the two of them. With much convincing, Cohen agrees to let Jamie into Noah’s life on one condition: Jamie’s family isn’t allowed near him.
The more that Jamie spends time with Noah, the more Cohen sees that she’s nothing like her sister, and he can’t help but fall in love with her. But will their forbidden relationship tear Jamie’s family apart? Or will they ever be able to have the life want?
I absolutely LOVED this book!! Forbidden romances are my absolute favorite, and this was executed so beautifully! The other characters that were introduced were absolutely fabulous — especially Georgia and Archer! I can’t wait for their book!
I will say, I don’t think I’ve ever hated a character as much as I hated Heather. I seriously just wanted to throat punch her and I’m so glad her story arc turned out the way it did. That lady needs a serious wake-up call.
You definitely don’t want to miss out on this book! This author is one of my absolute favorites, and I can’t wait for more in the series!!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
There is no easing in and getting comfortable first in Charity Ferrell’s Stirred. This author starts the story off with a very powerful, gut-wrenching intro.
Charity Ferrell doesn’t do easy with her stories, which is why I keep coming back for more. It’s never the same. This was such a complex, emotional story.
Cohen is a single dad. His ex didn’t want anything to do with him and their son and leaves him to raise the child on his own.
Fate brings Jamie, Cohen’s ex’s sister, into Cohen’s life. Cohen holds a grudge with that side of the family and their first meeting is somewhat hostile.
Soon Cohen is at the mercy of Jamie and a truce forms.
I really loved this story. The angst is EVERYTHING between these two!
It took me a moment to fully understand Jamie’s insecurities but when I did, I felt so incredibly bad for her. She has to make a decision that either way will leave her heart hurting. The author created Jamie as a complete opposite of her sister, so she can’t be selfish or not care what her decisions do to other people. It’s what makes her who she is.
If you are looking for an emotional, angsty read, look no further. This book is it and the author did a great job setting up the stories for the books that will follow.
It is always good news when you find you are on Book 1 of a new series. You get to know all the people from the beginning, and it’s like making new friends. Stirred is just such a book. Cohen is a focused guy; he’s got time for two things: his son and his bar. Let’s face it, the beginning of the book is pretty heart-wrenching, and the author does a fabulous job of putting us in the right head and heart space for the tone of the novel.
Cohen’s son is ill, and he ends up in the ER, where he meets up with his ex’s sister, who is now an ER doctor. Jamie is the polar opposite of her sister, but Cohen chooses not to see that. All he sees is the family behind the ex, who is a supremely, selfish, self-centered person. Jamie gets to know Cohen’s sister Georgia and begins to build a relationship with Noah Cohen’s son. That relationship helps build a relationship between Jamie and Cohen that blooms into love.
The author does a great job of building this relationship between people who have a history and not always having a good history. When he was dating her sister, Jamie had a crush on Cohen, but she was too young for Cohen to notice. Cohen has to get past the smoldering anger he has toward Jamie’s family and see them without looking through the lens of his ex. These realities force both Jamie and Cohen to deal with being who they need to be for each other and stop blaming the ex. I enjoyed reading how these two make their choices and move on with each other.
I also really enjoyed getting small scenes insights into the group of friends who will make up the other books in the series. I love the bar setting and all the interactions. I love the bromance between Cohen, Archer, and the rest of the guys. I also am looking forward to seeing all these relationships grow. Stirred had a beautiful and satisfying ending, and you could not help but be happy that Cohen and Jamie had found their happily ever after.
I loved this one. This one is a heart string puller and definitely a emotional roller coaster of a read. Cohen is a single dad to Noah and owns a bar. He’s a good guy even though he comes off as grumpy sometimes. He has his son’s best inters in mind when he does stuff. Heather his ex signed her right over to Noah and left right after he was born. Cohen has blocked Heather’s family from Noah’s life until there paths cross with Jamie (Heather’s sister). Jamie is nice. She is an ER doctor. Jamie starts just wanting to be able to hang out with Noah but then Feelings for Cohen creep up. I loved Cohen and Jamie’s connection. They have lot of obstacles to overcome and of course Heather cause problems. I really liked this one so recommend you one click this one.
I can’t express how much I loved this book!! I have been waiting on Cohen’s story since he was he was introduced in Just Roommates. This book is so good and the story line will keep you entralled while turning the pages. The chemisrty with these characters is so much more, it bleeds from the pages.
I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting, this book became my favorite!!
I highly recommend this book!!!!
I love the cameos of the other characters from the previous series. I have a massive love for books that have interconnected characters from different series. I can’t wait for more from this series…..
This was a really cute book. From the start you could feel the chemistry between Cohen and Jamie but also that they were fight it. I totally understood where both were coming from so it didn’t annoy me like some books have with the back and forth.
These two had quite a few obstacles to overcome. From family issues, to the hero’s trust issues we watch them both fight for what they want, fight because they don’t think it’s right, and finally come to the conclusion that they really do belong together.
I really loved the secondary characters. They were a great support to Cohen and Noah. They all had their owns lives but banded together to be there for him. I would really like to see some of them get books. Especially Cohen’s sister and business partner! There’s something there.
Overall it was a sweet read that made me smile. I love single parent books and this one hit the spot. It has some drama but not a lot so it didn’t take away from the overall feel good feel of the story. I’ve read a few books by this author but this one is hands down my favorite so far. 4 stars #2OCCJD
What a start to a new series. This book had so much to it and many elements I totally didn’t see coming at all. I enjoyed reading about how the characters developed their relationship and opened up to each other eventually. I was so happy with how the story developed and I can’t wait for the next one.
Charity, has a way to weave what are ordinary storylines and make them extraordinary. I love her reading her books, they are packed with all the feelings that makes them hard to put down.
Jamie & Cohen’s story is filled with angst, forbidden, and its addicting.
This was a great first book to this series.
I need all the others now, please. lol
A enemies to lovers romance that will melt your heart form the very beginning! Cohen and Jamie aren’t the real enemies but circumstances placed them on opposite sides. This steamy romance is really a friends to lovers romance. An amazing first book in Charity Ferrell’s newest series that gives us characters from the Blue Beech series with the beloved characters.
A complicated relationship that brings us a passionate and honest love that will bring you tears and warmth all at the same time.
Fun, tears and a kid that will melt your heart! Cohen and Noah a hot dada and his adorable son.
This is one emotional read. I was drawn to this because of the author and it’s a single dad romance. I’m so glad I read this one. I’m not gonna lie Cohen rubbed me the wrong way in the beginning. He did redeem himself because you can easily see how his past hurts have influenced him with good reason. My heart breaks for Jamie not getting have some type of relationship with Noah all these years, but fate has a funny way working out. This is a huge journey for both Jamie and Cohen. Things can get real complicated real fast, but you can’t deny what starts to bloom between them. There is one character I would like to bop one. She’s one piece of work. I know when I read a good book is when I get invested in the secondary characters just as much as the main ones. I can’t wait for more from this series.
This is by far one of the most incredible single parents book I’ve ever read! Miss Ferrell gave a sweet, but at the same time powerful story with these two amazing souls! I read it in one sitting because it was simply wonderful!
I am becoming a big fan of Ferrell. She writes detailed love stories that sweep you away into the fictional world. Stirred is a taboo romance where Jamie falls in love with her sister’s boyfriend. That’s not so bad, but her sister and Cohen have a child together. Her sister is selfish and leaves her family behind. The sister is written so well that I wanted to jump into the pages to slap her myself. Cohen has been burned in love and trust, not only with Jamie’s sister. So he keeps, Noah, away from Jamie and her parents. By doing this, he created a giant chasm between two families. Noah is the sweetest, energetic, little boy who has the biggest heart. He welcomes anybody with open arms, the opposite of his father. Jamie is a selfless, caring aunt, sister, and daughter. She represents all the good in the world. She sacrifices her happiness for everyone else, no matter how horrible they may be. The sexual tension in this book is off the charts and makes you just as frustrated! Cohen’s resistance, I understand, but he is so stubborn! I can not wait for the other characters’ books. I think I am more excited about the other couples than I was about Jamie and Cohen. I love that group of friends. A fantastic introduction to this new series!
I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
Stirred is the first book in the Twisted Fox series of interconnected standalones. It is a single dad, small town romance with a forbidden/taboo aspect to it. It has a great mix of sweet and heartfelt moments aswell as drama and angst.
Jamie is an ER doctor and hasn’t always had the best relationship with her sister which was made worse when her sister abbondend her new born son and boyfriend saying she didnt want anything to do with them. Jamie is a strong, kind, level headed, rational and independent woman and the complete opposite of her sister. One day while working she finds an unexpected patient in Noah, her nephew and his father Cohen.
Cohen didn’t have the best life growing up and after his girlfriend left him with their newborn son, Noah he decided that he would never let her or her family intervine in his son’s life and do everything he can to make sure Noah knows he is loved and wanted. Cohen is selfless, protective, loyal to those who deserve it but he is also cold, distant, gaurded, grumpy and not willing to let new people into his or his son’s life.
I really loved this story. It was sweet, funny, passionate, angsty, frustrating at times but oh so very addicting. I loved Jamie & Cohen together and loved ever scene with Noah in it as well as all of Cohen’s close friends and family. As much as I loved this book I do feel a lot of the drama and conflict was wrapped up a little to quickly but other than that I truly enjoyed it. I also loved all the mini crossovers from the characters of the Blue Beech series and the set up to the next book has me wanting it RIGHT NOW
This book does involve the trope of Sister’s Ex Boyfriend which I know a lot of people do not like but I would reccomend this to readers who like or don’t mind this trope.
What a start to a new series! Was definitely not expecting these characters but absolutely loved the storyline! Jamie and Cohen knew each other in the past, but after the damage that Jamie’s sister caused, they’ve been estranged. It all changes when Cohen’s son is in the ER and the doctor happens to be Jamie. Extremely unwilling and unhappy at first, Cohen finally comes around to Jamie treating his son, although he has no clue who Jamie actually is. Extending an olive branch of sorts by giving him her card in case something else happens, she never thinks he actually will call – until he does. As the pair continue to spend time together because of Cohen’s son, the more they talk through their past and work through the feelings they both had, although Jamie’s were the only ones somewhat known, and end up finally exploring those feelings. Until Jamie’s sister returns and makes it her mission to not only break them apart but also try to work her way back into Cohen’s life. I spent the majority of the book wanting to throat punch Jamie’s sister, and I was happy with how her part of the story ended. The twists and turns of Cohen and Jamie’s relationship kept me going back and forth and I was surprised yet excited and happy with the ending. I cannot wait for the next book though – the back and forth between Georgia and Archer in this book made the anticipation so high for me!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
