She’s right in the middle again. First Larklyn Davis is given an amazing horse to train making the previous train angry. Then she meets the handsome veterinarian and then of course Brecken shows back up into her life. Then her best friend has the FBI investigate her and finally the expensive horse dies on her. That’s a lot to sort out especially in the town of Barrow Bay with the fastest gossip mill around and getting into each other’s business is the main form of entertainment.
This is a hilarious mystery/romance that has you laughing out loud. The characters are absolutely wonderful, full of wit and personality. The interplay between the characters is fantastic and creatively done. The narrative is so funny and still gives more depth to the characters and describes the setting in detail. The emotional drama comes from the situations the characters are put through and how they deal with them. The mystery itself is well crafted and full of dead ends, misdirection, mysterious characters and twists, turns and surprises. I could not put down the book and can hardly wait until the next one comes out.

I really loved the snark and sarcasm that these characters had! Reminds me so much of some of my friends and myself. And the t-shirts…too funny! This town is a trip! Makes me want to visit…as long as I stayed off Lindsay’s blog, that is! Team Brecken all the way!

Larklyn Davis has a talented new horse in her stables and is concentrating all of her efforts on finding out why it has lost his mojo. This keeps her mind off of Detective Brecken Wilson who she is not sure if she is in a relationship with or not. Disaster strikes when the horse becomes ill with what appears to be colic and dies on route to the veterinary hospital. The blame is pointed at Lark and a suggestion of incompetence, but soon they discover the horse has been murdered leading Lark to jump on the case.
Can Lark discover why the horse was killed and who did it before she loses her reputation and possibly her own life? What is going on with Brecken and how is he tied to the case? Is it a love match or will the dashing new veterinarian town capture her heart?
With a little bit of romance, mystery, adventure, interesting characters, and some intrigue, this is the making for a perfect little cozy mystery.
