Phoebe and Ryder are divorced, but have not moved and gotten over each other. They both own a run down cottage and when Ryder takes it upon himself to fix it up after Phoebe breaks her leg, they start to remember how it was between them. But can Phoebe trust him not to cheat on her again? There were a lot of funny moments in this story, but both characters acted juvenile: Phoebe with her games and flirting and Ryder thinking he could keep his bachelor ways while married.
Still Not Over You should be Ms. Lohr’s calling card. Phoebe and Ryder’s tale is one of love, lost and found. Like only she can, Barbara Lohr sets about seducing readers with a romance destined to speak to the hidden romantic in every dreamer. Ryder and Phoebe’s journey is practically written in the stars. From young love to broken hearts and new beginnings, these soulmates navigate some tricky twists and emotional turns, but as always love finds a way. If everything happens for a reason, Ms. Lohr was the perfect person to explain to us why and how love can conquer all.
I absolutely loved this story of second chance romance. Barbara Lohr writes such wonderful, believable characters with heart warming plots. The book works perfectly as a stand alone but is also the fifth book in the Man From Yesterday series. If you have read the previous books, it is a great opportunity to catch up on some Gull Harbor residents. Fernando, Phoebe’s therapist, is a hoot! This series gets better with each new story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book (and I purchased a copy) and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was an adorable book. I felt conflicted about Ryder at the beginning but he did grow on me. This was such a charming story. I am glad to see some old friends from previous Gull Harbor books make an appearance here. I did thoroughly enjoy this story and highly recommend this to anyone who loves second chance romances.
I’ve read the Man From Yesterday series and have always found Phoebe an enigma – makes sense as she was “another character” in each of the stories. It wasn’t until I read SNOY that I realized just how young, age-wise, she was. Don’t get me wrong, though. She is wise beyond her years, in most ways, even if she does seek ‘advice’ from her flamingo lawn ornament! Okay, that always makes me laugh. (I really liked Fernando. Her conversations with him are hilarious.)
At its heart, Phoebe and her ex, Ryder, need to open up and grow up in this story. I think both of them need to learn how to deal with deep feelings that come with being in a relationship before they can move on. And their story about moving on? Hilarious! When Phoebe…let’s call it ‘challenges’…Ryder about painting her/their house pink, this guy’s-guy rises to that challenge and does it – with minimal complaining. Sort of. Ryder uses the opportunity of helping Phoebe (no spoilers to tell you why) to win her back. In the process, they both learn that life isn’t always black or white. Sometimes it is pink and turquoise!
Funny story about how to ‘fix’ a broken marriage. Ryder’s dad adds some great craziness, the ocean setting makes you want to dip your toes in the water, and I think Fernando is the only sane one.
Still Not Over You (Man from Yesterday Book 5) by Barbara Lohr
This is Phoebe and Ryder’s story.
This was a great story of two people rediscovering their love and trust in each other. Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down.
I could feel the characters’ emotions as they struggled through this journey. The love and passion was still there but they had to learn to trust again.
At times I laughed and cried. I really enjoyed this book. A perfect book to escape from real life struggles.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
