Still Me is a third book in a trilogy. I hadn’t read the first two, but that didn’t matter. The story is so skilfully developed that I just dived into it and in no time felt like a little fish frolicking in a friendly pond. All the characters were fully fleshed out and multi-layered. They weren’t just cardboard cut-outs, but talking, feeling, walking people complete with their shadows, their past, their secrets and their quirks. Their stories flew and crossed with one another, and all of them were delivered to a satisfactory resolution. New beginnings, heart breaks, up and downs, injustices and small acts of kindness were assembled together to create a rich background to what, in essence, was a classic love story.
Heart-warming, life-affirming, sweet, uplifting and adorable are the kind of superlatives I wouldn’t hesitate to use to sum up Still Me, and that’s some compliment because I am not a romantic. I enjoyed it just like I sometimes enjoy a box of chocolates, which always takes me by surprise as chocolate isn’t my thing.
about what I expected based on the her other books
It was only ok compared to the first 2 in the series.
I enjoyed the whole series. JoJo is always interesting
Boring and not as good as first one. Didn’t even finish this one
Love the series. I cannot say enough brilliant things about it
From one of the best trilogies ever!
Still Me by Jojo Moyes is a wonderful contemporary novel about discovering who you are meant to be. It is the third book in the Me Before You series and could be read as a stand-alone. I would recommend reading the books in order to chart the character progression.
I loved meeting up with Lou Clarke again, with her sunny, unique personality and her huge heart for others. All her life she reaches out to others, spreading goodness and happiness wherever she goes. Will, in book one, encouraged her to live big. In this novel we follow Louisa to New York and watch with baited breath as she discovers the Louisa she was meant to be.
Life is for living. We have one life, we need to reach out and grab it. We must not be hemmed in by others low expectations of us.
Louisa has the gift of bringing out the best in people. Her cheery smile and sunny disposition even brings out the best in a grouchy dog!
Death leaves huge gaping holes in lives. “What use am I now?… Nobody needs me anymore.” We need to find our purpose in life when our raison d’etre is pulled from under us. Now is the time to stretch ourselves and try something new.
I have adored this Me Before You series. The leading lady is kindness personified. It has been a pure pleasure following Lou Clarke’s life. Now the novels have ended, it feels like a hole in my life. Lou Clarke was more than just a character on a page she took up residence in my heart. The ending of the novels feels like a goodbye to a dear friend.
Enjoyed this one but not as much as first two. A bit disappointed in the ending.
This book is outstanding. Great plot and interesting premise.
It is an excellent read so enjoyed how Louisa adapted to all the obstacles thrown at her but kept her kind personality always. Jojo Moyes is an excellent writer; kept me turning those pages!!!
Loved the way the story of the heroine ended.
This is the last book with Louisa Clark that JoJo Moyes is writing. I’m going to miss Louisa…I have thoroughly enjoyed this ride.
Nice to catch up with ‘old friends.’
I enjoyed the entire trilogy.
Easy read… enjoyable book
This was a great ending for this wonderful trilogy. I’ll be reading more from this author.
Was engrossed in the book. Thought provoking for women especially.
It took awhile to get started but once I hit a certain point, I couldn’t put it down! Loved Louisa’s story – her struggles and achievements – and found her very relate-able!
The third book in the acclaimed Me Before You series finds us once again in Jojo Moyes’s confident, capable hands as we reenter the infectious and thoroughly entertaining world of Louisa Clark as she embarks on employment in New York City. Vivid characters in the States as well as old favorites across the pond pull at readers’ heartstrings and keep the pages turning. An unexpected tearjerker with a satisfying finish.
