In Lisa Genova’s extraordinary New York Times bestselling novel, an accomplished woman slowly loses her thoughts and memories to Alzheimer’s disease—only to discover that each day brings a new way of living and loving. Now a major motion picture starring Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin, Kate Bosworth, and Kristen Stewart!Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children and a house on the … a house on the Cape, is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. In turns heartbreaking, inspiring, and terrifying, Still Alice captures in remarkable detail what it’s like to literally lose your mind…
Reminiscent of A Beautiful Mind, Ordinary People, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Still Alice packs a powerful emotional punch and marks the arrival of a strong new voice in fiction.

Wonderfully written story about a disease that ruins lives.
I have loved every book Lisa Genova has written. This is the horrifying story of a brilliant young professor who has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s
and it is so beautifully written that I felt like crying.
This was a very personal story for me as my father also suffered from Alzheimer before he passed away. I did read it several years ago (so I’m leaving a review from memory) and I remember how wonderful Lisa Genova’s portrayal of what was happening to Alice to be very realistic, tragic, and heart wrenching. Beautifully written, I became an instant …
Powerful. Well written and impactful.
A well written explanation of the frightening disease of Alzheimers.
I found this book useful and meaningful due to a close relative who was experiencing mid-stage Alzheimer’s. It also provided guidance about medications available and life style changes that one could perform to help stop the advancement of this terrible disease which effects so many people and their loved ones.
Excellent!!
I listened to the audio version of this book and I absolutely loved it! I know we can’t KNOW exactly how it is or how an Alzheimer’s sufferer feels, but this author sure did a good job of presenting it to us as if she knows. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about Alzheimer’s or if you have someone in your family with …
One of my all-time favorite reads! A haunting depiction of what it would be like to lose your memory.
This was the first of Lisa Genova’s books that I read and I was hooked. I have read all of her books. She provides scientific information about neurological disorders, and also how these maladies effect the patient and their families. Her characters are well developed and her writing inspires empathy from her audience. I cannot wait for her …
Alice faced what I think everyone over 50 fears. She was a neuropsychiatrist and knew her eventual outcome and prepared herself for it. However dementia crept up and destroyed her life as she knew and misplaced her best laid plans.
I worked with the elderly for many years and experienced Alzheimer’s Dementia with my father. This novel tugged …
So sad, when you know ahead of time you are in a loosing battle. Especially when you are well educated and a valued member of society. READ IT.
So many people share this tragedy.
She writes about getting early Alzheimer’s disease and how it devastates Alice’s
Frightening for it portrays the cruelty of Alzheimer’s disease, yet in places light and lovely for the reaction and support of some characters.
A friend whose parents both died of Alzheimer’s recommended this book highly. Her name is Tracie Bevers and she wrote a book about being their caregiver. I read her book first, then this one to understand the disease better.
Lisa Genova provides a fascinating way to be in the mind of the afflicted. The fact that she and the main character are …
true tale of the Alzheimers thief.
A book that I still remember after I read it a few years ago. The mother daughter estrangement realistic. Her fast decline due to her illness all very realistic. An outstanding read.
Read this in one sitting several years ago and probably finished a whole box of tissues.
