In Lisa Genova’s extraordinary New York Times bestselling novel, an accomplished woman slowly loses her thoughts and memories to Alzheimer’s disease—only to discover that each day brings a new way of living and loving. Now a major motion picture starring Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin, Kate Bosworth, and Kristen Stewart!Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children and a house on the … a house on the Cape, is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. In turns heartbreaking, inspiring, and terrifying, Still Alice captures in remarkable detail what it’s like to literally lose your mind…
Reminiscent of A Beautiful Mind, Ordinary People, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Still Alice packs a powerful emotional punch and marks the arrival of a strong new voice in fiction.

One of the best books I’ve ever read. Intense, deep, sweet. It will put you to cry in many paragraphs. The author did a wonderful job putting the reader literally inside the mind of the protagonist. More than sometimes I would have liked to hug Alice and say to her: “Everything will be fine.” A masterpiece.
Lisa Genova takes the reader gently but honestly through this all-too-frequent journey.
Eye opener. Educational. Changed my life.
Because I had a mom with Alzheimer’s, the story was close to my heart. I wanted to know what was happening inside my mom. This book is beautifully written, with very good information about the disease and what can happen. Although every person’s path is different, I was glad to read about what one person might be feeling going through the rest …
l loved this book
Sorry I don’t remember books once finished but enjoyed it
This was a moving book, that try as I might, brought me to tears. Have tissues on hand. it is told from the viewpoint of Alice (unreliable narrator…) as she progresses with early-onset (age) dementia/Alzheimer’s. I read this for a book club and I am so glad I decided to read it (my initial thought was, “this is going to be a downer.”). I knew it …
For those looking to learn and be entertained at the same time, this is your answer. Ms. Genova has a brilliant way of using her neuroscience background to weave amazing family stories while sneaking in the science. A true inspiration!
This book disturbed me deeply since I have family with the disease. I cried so many times.
If you have someone with Alzheimer’s this book is powerfully helpful, as it’s written from the patient’s side and by someone who understands the neurological struggles and watched a loved one suffer through the disease. It is heart-wrenching to see this professor walk down the path of no return, never to be the person she once was. I know people …

A wonderful insight into the world of Alzheimer’s as she begins to notice the first signs and then follows her through the difficult journey. Having lived with a loved one with Alzheimer’s I found it to be so true oof the journey we also had.
Excellent book to read for persons with Alzheimer’s in family.
Do not suggest reading/listening while in public. Heartbreaking, emotional, and deeply moving.
My grandmother suffered from dementia at the end of her life. Her behavior was hard for me to understand. She went from loving children to hating, in particular, mine. It was heart-wrenching. I discovered this book a few years before she passed from this terrible disease and it helped me see through her eyes what was happening to her. She was …
I learned an awful lot. This is very well written, informative and honest
My Mother died from Alzheimers, so it gave me a more informed perspective of this tragic disease.
Very interesting read. Alice’s Alzheimer’s affected her life in less subtle ways. It was very engaging, funny and sad all wrapped up in one. Intriguing too. I found myself wondering how my life and the life of those around me would change if I or any of them had this disease. It has really been an enlightening and educational read.
This book informs of a subject we face through friends, family or personally. It is a must read that captures us and leaves us with memorable, informed understanding of memory loss.
The story of Alice builds a picture of what this disease does to your mind. Reading this fictional memoir shows how Alice’s family deals with her disease as well. Emotional, shattering and life-changing. I give it an A+
