This book is a must for family and friends of individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia. If you know nothing about this horrid disease Alzheimer’s, or are have a loved one with the disease or are the least bit curious about the life-stealing disease please take thee time to read this beautifully and well written book. The “speech” the main character gives neat the end of the book is totally awe inspiring!!
Dementia is always sad and overwhelming to the family and to the patient. But the awareness of its overtaking of your life, especially for such a young and brilliant woman is beyond tragic. A must read for everyone
One of my all-time favorite books. SO much better than the movie.
I read mostly murder mysteries, but I fully enjoyed this book, if that’s the correct word to use. It was scary how fast things can happen, and wonderful how her family coped with it after getting used to it. Made me more informed about altzheimers.
I’m not sure I would like Alice if I was a colleague or acquaintance, and I did not particularly like her arrogance at the beginning. But, the author used this arrogance to amplify the frustration Alice felt as slipped further and further into Alzheimer.
I loved the realistic approach this book takes to a very serious condition. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up, but the writer does a wonderful job of capturing the human condition, creating characters you want to follow, and following a natural progression.
I think two things really worry me about middle age. Cancer and Alzheimer’s…if you live long enough, one or the other will probably get you. This was written with dignity, care and reality. I still worry.
Somber, yet well written tale of Alzheimer’s
Loved this book. Written from the perspective of a Harvard professor with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Most interesting and terrifying to be inside her mind. Author writes from personal experience with a grandmother who had the disease. // I especially liked the book club questions, author interview and other extras at back of book. Includes a …
Loved it. Real life
Excellent personal look at a tragic disease. Made me understand so much more.
After caring for a parent with dementia,I gained a new perspective about what she might have gone through.
Hard to read at times but so worth the journey.
Could not put this down.
