She is the one. I knew it then, and I know it now.It has been ten years since I first laid eyes on her, ten years since I’ve held her, ten years since I’ve been inside of her . . . and ten years since I broke her heart. Now she’s back. And when I look into the eyes of my first and only love, I know she is the one for me. She is still the most beautiful woman, and she can still make my body come … make my body come alive with just a glance.
If I feel this way, she must too . . . right? Wrong. According to her, the past is the past. Her life doesn’t consist of second chances, just the here and now. But guess what? I’m here, and it’s now. We aren’t meant to be apart—that was my mistake, and I will do whatever it takes to make her mine again.
She forgets I know what makes her blush. She forgets I know how to make her laugh and how to give her immense pleasure—but I am determined to remind her. And once I do, I will never let her go again.

This series is so very near and dear to my heart. Mainly, because I was there every step of the way, reading every wonderful word Joanne Schwehm wrote down, unfolding every remarkable page until Jack’s story was complete. Like his brothers and sister, before him, I was hooked at the very start. I can’t recommend this book, this series, enough. Stiffed is a heartwarming story between childhood sweethearts who have a second chance at happiness. Whether they achieve it or not is part of the fantastic journey. Add in the other Press-hots, I mean Prescott brothers, and you won’t stand a chance in making these Prescott Novels ones you’ll read over and over. Now bring on Hooked, Josh’s story. I’m ready to add him to my hashtag #AllThePrescottsAreAms. #SorryNotSorry
🙂
RELEASED TODAY!!!! I LOVEEEEEE JOSH, and I ADORE seeing all these hot brothers interact! GUYS’ STRIP TEASE???? YES PLEASE!!!!
With every word, every page, I fall more in love with the Prescott family. Joanne Schwehms’ telling of the life and love of Jack Prescott was a complete and utter surprise. Although featured in her other Prescott stories he was guarded emotionally. You knew there was something hidden down deep but when she opened him up in his story, I fell hard for him. I have to say for me, he gave older brother Drake a run for the money in the book boyfriend category. Jack and April met as children and it look like they would be destined to marry one day. Life, as always, can bring both beauty and tragedy. April’s family opted to move across the country separating the teen couple, destroying April’s heart. When these two are brought back together by fate a decade later, can the walls be torn down and relationships mended? You will not want to miss this next installment in the Prescott series and now I will sit and wait patiently for youngest brother, Josh.
Yes. Yes. YES!!! I am in love with the Prescott siblings and have been waiting for Jack’s story. And let me tell you Joanne Schwehm didn’t let me down at all. And seeing the rest of the clan didn’t hurt either (especially since they had a few surprises up their sleeves).
Jack was so swoony. And with a side of alpha that kept April (and me) on my toes. For as business savvy as he was, when it came to relationships, not so much. I loved seeing him work to woo her. But I liked that April pushed back even more. She fought Jack at every turn and she had her reasons. And when I learned what it was- my heart just hurt for her.
However, Jack would not be deterred. He wanted his future with April and he pulled out all the stops to make it happen. Especially when a blast from the past came a threatening. Out came alpha Jack and he wasn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer when it came to April’s safety. It was just what they needed to see that time and life and circumstance didn’t change how much they were written on each others hearts.
Stiffed gave me all the feels I want in a second-chance romance. Seeing Jack and April fall the people they were now not just the kids they once were was the right touch of sweetness. Because when they weren’t bickering about moving forward, they were steaming it up. And that ending! It gave me all the flutters. It was perfectly them- sigh.
J+A……A+J. Firsts and Lasts. Swoon. I read this as an arc and can’t believe I was lucky enough to get my hands on Jack and April’s story before the release date. This is my honest opinion of the book and exactly what I would have written if I had purchased it.
Jack and April met when she moved in to the house next door. She also moved into his heart and took up permanent residence there. My favorite scene was when 7 year old Jack knocked on his neighbor’s door. He was hoping they had kids – specifically boys he could play with. April answered and hoped he had sisters she could play with. From the second they got over the fact that this wasn’t the case, they were inseparable….until…..
Jack broke April’s heart into a million pieces. But they still belonged together no matter what life threw at them. 10 years later, the story of Jack fixing his mistake and breaking down the brick wall April built around her heart continues and you can’t help wishing for their HEA.
I loved this story. The family dynamics and April’s bond with Alan surround Jack and April with love and support. Obstacles big and small jump out along the way but the way the story is written, you picture these two as kids, then teens and now adults and you feel like you’ve been along for the whole ride. Beautiful story. Joanne gave us yet another winner.
5 Who Knew Pop Rocks Were Multi-Purpose Stars!!!
If that above doesn’t get you to read this book just so you can find out what I’m talking about, let me tell you all the reasons you MUST read Stiffed by Joanne Schwehm….
Jack and April truly are the ultimate second chance that is meant to be. When this book starts we get their first meeting and I was already swooning, he was so caught up in this sweet little girl with pigtails that moved next door. When we next see Jack it’s ten years after their hearts have been broken and he’s ready to get his girl back and boy does he do it in some would say grand style!
“She was my missing piece, and I hadn’t been whole since.”
Little does April know when she moves back to Virginia to run the newly opened division of her father’s company that not only will she most likely run into Jack, but she’ll be seeing him on a daily basis… I may have had quite a chuckle at this development! Oh and when they do see each other, the Jack is ready to get her back, but alas, April not so much….
“I know I broke us, but please let me put the pieces back in place. All I want is for us to be together … to be happy… to love… because that’s my purpose. You, April, are my purpose.”
The more I read this book, the more I loved it. Jack is in all his alpha glory proving that he’s the only man for her, but, the Prescott’s as a whole are fully involved in making this reunion successful! There were definitely some moments of angst and memories for them. I adored how Jack went about to break down April’s walls. There’s a friendship between them that while they haven’t seen in each other in so many years is still there and while he uses that to his advantage, seducing the only woman for him was so romantic and also laugh out loud funny at times.
There were quite a few surprises in this book too that I really didn’t see coming which I think made this book a much richer read. Getting to see the Prescott family interacting and the love they have for each other warmed my heart. I’ve always been a fan of this family and any time I can get a good dose of them I know I’ll be laughing and maybe shed a tear, but that’s okay!
What it all comes down to, is Ms. Schwehm has written a book that captured me from the very first page, brought me along for a love story with a couple that I think needed to be apart to appreciate what they have now. Their chemistry is through the roof but the love they share for each other is one that while may have been tested and could be tested again in the future, is one that will never waiver.

“Yᴏᴜ ɴᴇᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ʟᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ.”
It’s Jack Prescott’s time to get his happily ever after and he’s holding nothing back when it comes to the woman he let get away. , Joanne Schwehm’s latest SWOONY standalone romance, brings us back to the amazing family that I’ve come to absolutely ADORE!
Jack and April have quite the history together, and Jack is on a mission to claim the woman he has loved from the very start. April isn’t going to let him back in her heart so easily. There are things he doesn’t know about her and if she has it her way…she’ll be able to walk away at the end of this and he will never have to know. She can try and walk away, but Jack won’t let her get very far…he is a Prescott after all and he plans on never letting go of her again.
Sexy, romantic, charming, AND emotional, this love story will have you feeling all the feels in no time! I LOVE THIS FAMILY and if you give them a chance, I know YOU will too!

I LOVED this book. I’ve been waiting for Jack’s story since the very beginning and it didn’t disappoint. As always, I flew through it…I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for Josh’s story! The Prescotts are my favorite family to read about!
4.5 Second Chance Stars!
I loved this beautiful story of friendship, love, and redemption! It is a sweet and emotional second chance romance that captured my heart from the very beginning! Jack and April have been best friends since they were kids. That close bond turned into a love that would never die. Unfortunate circumstances tore them apart and Jack didn’t handle it well, breaking both their hearts. Now years later, Jack has his second chance to make things right, to prove to April he will never hurt her again, and he won’t let anything stand in his way. I loved watching them rediscover each other again, it wasn’t easy for them, but so worth the journey. It is told in past and present sequence, revealing the depth of their connection and who they are, which I loved. Jack is so swoony, as well as all his brothers, I can’t wait for Josh’s story! Ms. Schwehm’s writing is so beautiful, and moving, and her characters are genuine and easy to relate to. I loved everything about this second chance love story of hope, and forgiveness.
Stiffed had a couple of my go-to genres:
Friends to lovers and Second Chance…oh wait and one HOT ALPHA man!!!!
First, Chapter 1 had me hooked!!!! I just loved how Ms. Schwehm grabbed my attention and emotions right from page one.
Stiffed is all about Jack and April….so let me begin…
Jack…oh Jack! He knew what he wanted and he wanted April and he wasn’t going to stop trying until he had her…..completely!!! April was determined too, to not fall for Jack and his ways. But we all know how us women try to do things but when it comes to our men…….
I highly recommend!!!!
With every word, every page, I fall more in love with the Prescott family. Joanne Schwehms’ telling of the life and love of Jack Prescott was a complete and utter surprise. Maybe my most favorite Prescott Novel yet. It was warm and funny. Hot and sexy. Sweet and naughty and oh so romantic.
Jack fell in love with April the day she moved in next door when they were 7. He brought brownies and asked her to play in his back yard with him and they’ve been inseparable ever since until she moved and he broke up with her when they were 18. The biggest mistake Jack ever made.
Fast forward 10 years…. He’s a mega millionaire and she’s back in town to open a branch of her dad’s company.
This story was so much fun to read. Joanne Schwehm can sure weave a tale that will keep you glued to your reading spot until you finish. I loved all the Prescott Novels but I think Jack holds a special place in my heart. A well written, fast moving, love you forever love story. Totally worth the read.
This is the perfection of second chance romances. Joanne Schwehm has outdone herself. She has written a truly heartfelt romance.
Can I get a Jack Prescott? Y’all are going to fall in love with him even more than you already do. He’s made lots of appearances in the other books and when we finally get a chance to get into his mind, and see his love for April your heart will be full.
We follow as Jack pounces on a chance to get April back home in Virginia. He wants a second chance to right his wrongs. Once she’s back he doesn’t stop fighting for them. April has a brick wall built around her heart when it comes to Jack Prescott. But he’s not backing down on getting his woman. We watch has April tries her best to not fall for him again but the love these two have outweighs everything else.
Joanne has written the most perfect book boyfriend with Jack. He will have you swoony your bottom off.
I would highly recommend this book to any romance lover!
*I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.*
I highly recommend you read this book.
Meet Jack Prescott a successful and wealthy business man, but the only thing he wants in his life is the women that he lost, his first love from the age of seven Jack met his next door neighbour April they become best friends then lovers they was inseparable, but all things changed when April had to move away Jack thought it best to let her go, but from building his fortune the only person he thought about was his first love April he needs to win her back, do you believe in second chances as Jack does after ten years they finally meet again the spark is still there will they be able to forgive and forget, they both had all of their firsts but will they have all of their lasts, you need to read it to find out. fantastic book page turner for me.
Eeeekkkk!!! I’ve waited so long for Jack’s book and it was everything!!!
Jack and April meet when they are kids. They started out as friends and ended up being teenagers in love. Unfortunately they get split up and ultimately live their own lives before reuniting. The chemistry between the two leaps off the pages!!! Jack is such a great and romantic guy! April is a head strong woman with a heart of gold. The banter between them is easy going and I found myself literally laughing out loud!
Of course the other Prescott’s make appearances in this book. I absolutely adore this whole family and it’s by far one of my favorite series!!
What an awesome story this was! Jack and April had a young love. Now, it’s time to see if they get a second chance. The characters are very likable. We met Jack in the other Prescott books. Now, if you haven’t read the other books, you may get a bit confused on the other characters’ storylines, but it is ok if you do. That doesn’t take away from this storyline. Jack is alpha male, but a patient alpha. He knows what he wants and who he wants and will let nothing stop him, not even April. That is an awesome male lead. The storyline is very engaging and you keep wanting to read to see what is really going on with these 2. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
Joanne Schwehm is absolutely a one-click author for me (I always like to disclose upfront because I never want to come off as a “biased” reviewer). I like the way she writes and I have absolutely enjoyed the Prescott Family.
STIFFED is the 4th story in the Prescott Series AND IS ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE!!! It can be read as a stand-alone as long as you know that the Prescott Family is everything you would think an “All-American” family is.
I crushed on Jack from the very first time he was mentioned way back when because he checks all of my boxes. Looks good in a suit – check Is kind and empathetic – check Looks good in jeans and rolled up sleeves – check Is business savvy – check This man can do no wrong in my book.
STIFFED is a fast and fabulous read. It has humor, romance, sexy times, and Pop Rocks (seriously, Pop Rocks are an under appreciated candy). It is everything I wanted it to be and so much more. It is right in my wheelhouse and is a book that I will absolutely be reading again in the future.
JACK,JACK,JACK!!!
Jack—swoony romantic for some, too much creepy stalker for me
I hesitated about leaving this review because I’ve really liked the previous books I’ve read in this series, and I dislike leaving reviews as negative as this. But I was looking forward to reading Jack’s story, and I found it troubling, to say the least. Be warned this may contain some mild spoilers.
Unfortunately, particularly because I had liked Jack in the previous books, I hated him for most of this; I’m glad I read Josh’s book before this one because I really liked it, and I’m not sure I would have bothered going on with the series if I’d read this first. I know Jack was supposed to come across as alpha and determined, and yes, there were plenty of examples of him being generous and caring towards other people, but that didn’t make up for all the times I found him to be a manipulative, condescending a$$hole towards April. His behavior crossed the line for me.
If this was romantic suspense instead of rom com, and—here come the possible spoilers—an ex bought majority ownership in April’s father’s company, the new office April moved across the country to run is in the ex’s hometown, the ex moves April’s business offices from their original building overnight into the building he owns without any kind of warning ahead of time, and, oh yeah, he then puts her office right next to his? That’s creepy stalker territory for me, not romantic, and not funny, either. And that’s not even going into the power dynamic of him basically being her boss and continuing to pursue her after she tells him she doesn’t want to be more than friends. If this had been a dark romance, I would have blown it off as expected for the genre, but in a rom com? Actually April was treated badly by her father as well. I get selling a majority interest to Jack was probably a necessary business decision, but he couldn’t be bothered to warn April that the new owner is the ex that basically threw her away? I wanted April to tell them both to eff right off. So I was actually rooting for April to say no to Jack, and I lost respect for her when she didn’t, and got all swoony instead. Blech.
I was pretty well done with them both by halfway through , and actually put the book down for a while at about the 65% mark. I only finished reading because of how much I did like the rest of the series, because I hate leaving books and series unfinished, and because I was mildly curious as to whether April’s big secret would provide any kind of redemption for SOMEONE’s behavior, whether that was April, her father, or Jack himself.
With a little time and space to buffer my unhappiness, I liked the last part of the book much better, where Jack’s protectiveness and caring really kicked in towards April. He still had major a-hole tendencies that made me roll my eyes, and I still wanted April to grow a spine instead of just thinking about, but I was able to laugh at the ridiculousness instead of fuming and wanting to throw my e-reader.
So, if you’re a fan of the series, and fairly forgiving towards behavior in harassment/stalker territory as long as it’s in the name of love, go ahead and give this a try. In spite of liking the last section, it wasn’t enough to redeem the bad taste I had for so much of the book. The reason it’s getting the stars it does is that the writing is technically good, I enjoyed the glimpses we got of the rest of the Prescott family, and I did like the last section. 2.5 to 3 stars

By: Joanne Schwehm
Narrated by: Aaron Shedlock, Mackenzie Cartwright
Series: The Prescott Series, Book 4
Just when I needed a great, easy and entertaining listen, this book fell into my lap. Jack and April met at the age of 7, and even then the sparks flew. Growing up as best friends to a couple was the natural progression. But when Jack broke things off to go to college, life for both of them changed. Now years later, they meet up again. Is it by chance? Maybe. Is there still a flame? Could be. But will April let herself back into the fire? This is a great second chance love story. It’s not only about the two of them, but the family dynamic of both April and Jack. We get a glimpse of the Prescott men and their women as they are with Jack, but it’s even more fun when they get to see April for the first time in years. April’s dad plays a small part in the story as well. The best relationship though is that of April and her best friend Alan. Their bond is one that will not be broken, but will their secret be the thing to keep Jack from April? Schwehm writes with passion and care. She hits on a subject that is important and brings it to the forefront with pertinent information and in a way that is realistic. I loved getting to know Jack and April!
Narration for this book by Aaron Shedlock and MacKenzie Cartwright is spot on. Shedlock has a voice able to portray any character, and for Jack, he gives him just enough punch to make him the strong, confident man he is. I love his way of changing up the boardroom to the bedroom, and even showing vulnerability just with inflections of his voice. Cartwright shows us April with her past hurts, concerns for the future and uncertainties. Her voice gives us all of that plus the underlying love she has for Jack. It’s wonderful to be able to feel the character’s emotional pull through the performer and these two bring it on.

There are so many emotions running through my head right now trying to explain what is so great about this book. This is the ultimate second chance at love story that will make you swoon, break your heart and put it back together. Along with that is a very well written suspense section that will have your heart racing until it is over. This was my first book in this series and after listening to all the other characters in this book I can’t wait to go back and meet them in their own stories.
